Teething ???????

a small pin prick of blood on 7 1/2 month olds gums is it a tooth coming if it is how long should it take

Teething ???????
Poor little girl! My daughter is going through the same thing (8 months.) It is most likely the tooth is breaking the skin and should be visibly white in a day or two. Keep her mouth clean with drinks after every meal (no sugary drinks - just water if you can get away with it) and keep checking the area.

If she's drooly and grumpy that's fine - so long as she's happy chewing things. If the area gets infected she will let you know (very loudly) when she tries to bite down. If so take her to the doctor - who'll give her a mild antiboitic and you some cotton wool - for your ears.
Reply:a day or 2 before you will be able to see it. Get a metal tea spoon and tap it onto the gums and you might be able to hear the tooth
Reply:You can't tell from just that if it is teething or not. Are they drooling more than usual? Are they putting their fingers in their mouth and chewing on everything in sight? If so, that's probably teething.
Reply:don't have any idea with that cause my little one he's just 4 months and just start feeling his gums, better see your doctor or have a word with your health visitor.
Reply:more than likely, and while im here, a handy tip, ice pops are good! good luck
Reply:It could be, why not rub a clean finger across the gum where the blood was and see if you can feel a slight sharp edge. If not, the baby may have knocked its' gum. Baby's first teeth start to come through from about 4 months to a 1year. The average age is around 6 months so it is very likely it is Baby's first tooth.
Reply:ok
Reply:yes its the tooth coming once the gum has been split it wont take long at all for the tooth to come through
Reply:First let me wish you good luck...the teething process can actually take a few months..lol For both of my kids I picked up lots of small bibs, and kept them in them while they were drooling 24/7. They have great rubber toys that you can toss in the freezer so they have something cold to gnaw on. The harder rubber toys are not as soothing. Just remember if they get really fussy you can always give them Tylenol, my pediatrician assured me it was not addictive and it helped with their aches and pains. It also helped me sleep better. I even got in the habit of putting the dropper in their mouth when they were sleeping...automatic relfex is to suck - so it works great.
Reply:sound's like it is teething, keep plenty of teethers in the fridge and get yourself some calgel.
Reply:sounds like it to me! dont be afraid to give her a little calpol or nurofen (can you imagine how painful it is!) it should be through within the next few days.

a good tips is to make some carrot battons and put them in the freezer it soothes as well as the hardness encouraging the tooth.

boots sell a herbal teething remedy sorry i can't remember what it is called but i found it by far the best, it comes in a powder form in sachets good luck x
Reply:Try rubbing it with a clean finger you should be able to feel the tooth, if you can feel a tooth it will start to break through the gum in a few days! Give your baby a teething toy and it will probably break through quicker!!
