Teething promblems.?
if you are in the UK,try Ashton and Parsons powders, after suffering with sleepless nights with my 3 children,i thought surely there's got to be something that helps, with my 4th child i used the powders,it soothes the toothache, stomach upset, fever etc,and worked brilliantly i'd recommend them to anyone.with my first 3 children bonjela was the main thing i used but all that does is numb the gum.my 13mth old son cut 6 teeth last week altogether,he was a bit mard than usual but he's now got 11 teeth altogether, and all have come through without any real trouble.hope this helps.good luck, and yes, cant wait for monday when they're back at school.had enough of the bickering aaaaaarrgh!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Tell me about it!!

I had no probs with my eldest son....a tooth just appeared out of nowhere sometimes, no nappy rash, no whinging....

with my youngest it was exactly the opposite...he kept me up most of the night, screamed from dawn till dusk....nappy rash all the time!1

Strange aint it!
Reply:Popsicles, ambesol, there are these cool water teethers that freeze and my daughter liked those. My mom rubbed brandy on my gums as a child she says. Yard work will tire any kid out ! Also try frozen fruit !
Reply:tell me about it my 2nd child has really good healthy big teeth!! the only thing that i could find was ambasol witch you can get from your local chemist or boots. its in a glass jar its about £3 usually they keep it behind the counter just ask for it. i hope you take my advice as this product is worth it. good luck

Need Help With Teething?

My 6 month old is teething I have tried tylenol, teething tablets and baby oragel what else can i do for him he has turned into a little bear. I have also tried cold rags, teethers, ice cubes, any help would be helpful thanks

Need Help With Teething?
This is just something they have to go through. Maya was a terrible teether. She still is. Her 2 year molars are coming in now and she will come in our room at 3am crying saying "my teeth mommy". It breaks my heart.

Also, Tylenol is a very powerful drug to a 6 month old. It isn't like us popping a couple of Tylenol. If it isn't killing the pain, then talk to your doctor to make sure you are giving enough or switch to Motrin which may be better since it is an antiinflammatory.
Reply:it mite help if u put i little bit of rum or which ever u choose on the bottem gums
Reply:I asked the same question last night about my two and a half month old...sounds like you have tried everything...but did you try just rubbing his gums?...good luck to you!!
Reply:My son liked ice pops (unopened).
Reply:MMMM, well they have these little food net chewer things at Babies r us. You put ice, veggies, and fruit in them and it prevents the seeds and skins from coming off. You could try one of those and put frozen grapes in it.

Reply:I found that children's Motrin work better on teething for my babies. That and my massage their gums with my finger
Reply:you can rub the panadol or nurofen on the child's gums to relieve the pain also you can burn some lavender oil in the child's room this helps i did it with my son also give a carrot to break the skin plus he has something to chew on or a rusks stick your choice good luck
Reply:I also gave my son blueberry waffles to chew on. It tastes good and it soothes the gums and it gets soft. My son hated teething rings and baby oragel. The teething tablets worked well on him too but you already said they weren't working. I hope this helps. best wishes.
Reply:Babies like to chew on something firm and cold when they are teething. Have you tried the teethers that you can refrigerate? Try a combo of the cold teethers, tylenol and orajel. Be sure not to go over the recommended amounts for each medication daily. Good luck and hang in there! : )
Reply:I use Gentle Naturals homeopathic teething drops they work wonders and I have gone through 2 bottles since he was born you can get then at target or walgreens.I hope that they work for you
Reply:Try giving the baby tiny, tiny slivers of ice. The ice is so tiny that it melts almost as soon as it hits the gums, but babies love it.

Of course, you have to make sure that it's small and thin.
Reply:Your little one sounds similar to my son, who is now 13 months old. He started his teething at 5 1/2 mos and was just miserable through it all. Some little ones take it harder then others. The only thing that comforted my son was tylenol prior to bedtime and his pacifier. He didnt want to have anything to do with teethers and such which made it hard. We even had a hard time putting our finger in his mouth to massage his gums for him. One thing that he did and still enjoys as his molars are coming in is chewing on a toothbrush. Crazy I know! We now know a battery operated toothbrush for him that has a detachable head that is a massager and it's been great for him as his molars are coming in.

I know that this is a very difficult time for you and your little one. Just remain patient. Offer lots of loves and hugs and cuddles. A break will come and you will forget all about this time..until the next time:-) Good Luck and hang in there.

4 month old teething symptoms? Dr. said no.?

Dr. said he's not teething, but he is rubbing ears and side of face hard. No ear infection yet they won't tell me that he may be feeling his teeth under the gums begin to hurt. Isn't the rubbing of ears and side of face a sign of teething as well?

4 month old teething symptoms? Dr. said no.?
I would say he is teething. With my first 2 children every time I even attempted to suggest that anything was from teething I was blown off. I am on my 3rd baby and we have a different doctor now. We went to his 4 month check up and it was the doctor that pointed out that he was teething when I had been blowing it all off because of my experience with the other 2. I told the new doctor about what had happened with the other 2 children when they were babies and she said that many doctors don't just want to blame stuff on teething just in case something else is going that needs to be looked at. Some babies are very sensitive to the whole teething process while others aren't. Some of the symptoms of teething are also the symptoms of colds and infections and other childhood aliments. Many doctors want to look every thing else just in case it is something else.

I also feel that lots of things that babies do can't be scientifically tested and from the science point of view if it can't be proven with solid results and evidence, then it isn't true. However, every mother from any generation will be able to tell you what babies do when they teeth, when they go through growth spurts, when they do the things they do. Like babies like rattles. This isn't anything new to anyone. Humans have known this for generations and centuries. It is one of those things that have been passed down from generation to generation for a long time. Well the same holds true for teething. Any great grandma out there will be able to tell you when the baby is teething, even when the doctors say no.

My first son got his first tooth at 3 1/2 months. At his 2month check up I told the doctor that I thought he was starting to teeth and I could see the little tooth right under the gums. The doctor looked in his mouth and said that no he wasn't teething and that he was too young still. He told me that about a month before a tooth comes in he will slobber more and really it shouldn't be that bothersome to my son but it was too early and not to worry about it yet, he might be starting by the 4 month check up but not now. Well a month and half later my son had his first tooth and a week after that he had his 2nd tooth.

Doctors know many things, but they don't know everything. They aren't right 100% of the time. If that was true, there wouldn't be as many lawsuits as there are. You are mom and you know your baby better then anyone else. Trust your instincts
Reply:He's teething. Doctors know a lot, but not everything. My son started teething at 4 months, even though no teeth showed up until he was 7 months. But those suckers start to hurt early on. If they're really bugging him, try giving a very small amount of infant Tylenol to take the edge off the pain. It worked for my baby.
Reply:YEA TRY GIVING HIM SOME TLENOL OR BABY ORAGEL OR WAHT REALLY WORKS BUY ONE OF THOSE THINGS U STICK IN THE FRIDGE THAT THEY CAN CHEW ON BUT YEA I DONT THINK THE EAR INFECTION WILL HAPPEN UNTIL THE TEETH COME OUT MAYBE WHEN HES LIKE 6 OR 7 MONTHS OLD
Reply:I've never heard of ear-rubbing as a sign of teething.

A baby of four months old could be teething, but its also entirely possible he won't get any teeth for months. (My daughter had no teeth until around her first birthday.) Babies generally get the two bottom/front teeth first and then the two top/front teeth. It seems to me rubbing the side of his face wouldn't seen to be connected with getting those first two or four teeth.

I'm wondering if he has some ear problem that may not yet be an infection. Congestion can cause ear discomfort. Also, is there any chance the skin on his face and ear could be slightly irritated (maybe by a fabric he's been near) and causing him enough discomfort to call his attention to it?
Reply:He is teething. If you do not feel comfortable giving him Tylenol then you can use baby orajel. He may not like the taste but it does help. Doctors don't always know what they are talking about, believe I know. I almost always ask for a second opinion if I feel there is more to it.
Reply:My sister used frozen waffles to ease the pain, her kids LOVED them! If a Doc has examined your son and found no ear infection or anything else wrong, try it. Cut the Eggo into 1/4 sized pieces, keep them frozen and see if it helps. Kids go through phases on thier own time, some sooner, some later. He'll just knaw on it, it couldn't hurt!
Reply:he's teething, all 3 of my kids started early and all had teeth by 5 months.
Reply:It could be anything but my son used to pull his ears %26amp; his face would start to go red when he was getting teeth. My son was around 5 months when he got his first tooth so it could well be. If he is in discomfort try these tablets they are the best thing for teething - HYLANDS Teething Relief - Purchased from the chemist. Good luck and if it doesn't get any better then take him to the chemist and ask them what they think, they can usually tell if it's anything to serious.
Reply:My son did this a lot! It was always the same ear and everything! The doctor told me not to worry about it because he never had anything wrong. It could be that he found his ear like mine did! He played with that thing all day long and I swore he had an infection or a problem but it never happened. Sometimes they find something new and just play with it constantly. As long as he doesn't like hes in any pain and is doing just fine, i would say just let it go.
Reply:Dr's always think of teething as "a tooth will be popping through any day now." But teething is a process and a very long and painful one at that. I would bet his teeth are shifting around, moving into position for when the first ones start to emerge.

So even if he doesn't get any teeth for a couple months, don't think you were wrong.

Teething and cut on upper gum?

my son has two teeth coming in on the bottom they are not fully out but the tips are there. this morning while looking at my sons mouth i saw what looks like a cut on his top gums.

my question is, is he teething on the top also or is the bottom teeth sharp enough to cut his gums.

he is 8 months old

Teething and cut on upper gum?
They usually get the front bottom 2 and front top 2 around the same time so he may be cutting all 4 at the same time. He may be biting down because his bottom teeth are hurting and the sharp points are scratching the top...
Reply:My daughter is 8 1/2 months old and around 7 1/2 months she got her first 2 teeth, i didnt noticed a cut on her top ones at all, BUT, just about a week or 2 ago she got her third one, top left, so it might be a third tooth. Can you see any white at all on the top? Sounds to me like its another tooth. But im not a professional or anything.

Teething early....is it possible?

I have a 3 month old daughter and i was wondering if it is normal for her to be teething already. i know they won't come through for a while i was just wondering if it was even possible at that age and she has all the symptoms. All answers will be greatly appriciated!

Teething early....is it possible?
yep eyp yep ...my baby started at 3 months also..but it was 3 more months till she got a tooth...
Reply:yep its normal - my son started teething about the same age - stock up on baby oral jel.
Reply:Very possible! Some babies are BORN with teeth, or start teething right away and get teeth days or weeks later.

If she has the signs, she probably is.
Reply:Yes, get ready for months of drooling :-) My kid really liked the teething rings you could freeze, I think it felt good on his gums. There is some organic homopathic teething medication that you can get in an organic grocery store if you are concerned about the chemicals in baby oraljel. My sister used it on her little one, and it seemed to help just as much as the chemical stuff.
Reply:yea, along wid the rest of the responses, its normal. and true, i knew a lady, who's child was born wid like teeth already. its odd but nothing to be worried bout.
Reply:my son started teething that early...everyone started calling him X-Files...(the tooth is out there)yeah, I know it's kinda gay...:)
Reply:yes, it is possible for you baby to be teething right now sometime baby's are born with all or some of their teeth and they're pulled right out of the mouth. don't worrier to much about it give her 5 to 6 months and you'll see them breaking through the gums
Reply:no absolute in this world. consult a doctor if you are not certain. Teething normally will have symptons such as fever - ask the doc about the signs
Reply:glad someone else asked this, I have a 3 month old and i thunk she may be teething too, she is really cranky, not sleeping well, drooling HEAPS and shoving everything she can in her gob - then cries once its in there like it is causing her pain. Good luck with it, doesnt look like this stage is going to be much fun!
Reply:My son popped his first tooth at three months. Now at 8 months he has 5 teeth. Just let her chew on CLEAN teethers. I really didn't find anything that worked for my son, but he is just like me, hard to please.

Teething Symptoms????

My son is 11 months old and he has vomitted 4 times since morning. He had a fever yesterday for sometime, but today he does not have a fever. He is also coughing and when he cough's it seems his chest is full of cold, is this a sign of teething??

Teething Symptoms????
Sounds more like a cold or respiratory problem. You should consult a doctor if a child is vomiting.
Reply:sounds more like a cold or the flu take him to the doctors
Reply:I think he has some kind of flu virus. The only thing that usually happens when teething is a low grade fever and a lot of slobbering.
Reply:ok my mom, a mother of 4 children just said it is a sign! Try to give him some baby aspirin and some catnip tea to break the fever! Try some chamomile tea also just make sure it's room temperature you don't want him to throw it up! start looking or a teething ring ir try putting the tea as a soft ice pop form! or make some ice tea cubes! just keep holding him because he's going through alot. make sure he gets plenty of hugs and hold him!
Reply:Probably a chest cold. Take him to the doctor!
Reply:you don't need this board. You need a pediatrician. Please take him in. My daughter never vomited, had diahrea when teething. She did have a rattling in her chest when she had croup! Take him in tomorrow.

High fevers and teething???

i have a 10 month old...who just today at around noon sprung a 101.5 degree fever....I gave him infants motrin and it went away...after his nap when he woke up he was so hot....his temp was 103.5. I rushed him to the doctor he said that teething doesnt cause those kind of temps. But he has no other signs and symptoms. they gave him childrens tylenol in the office and his fever dropped to 101.9 but within 1 1/2 hours it was back up to 102.8. i was advised to alternate between motrin and tylenol every 3 hours but the fever hasnt dropped below 100.8...... Is it possible that the fever is from teething?

High fevers and teething???
A "low grade" fever is normal during teething as well as a little runny nose and diarreha. His fever is much to high to be due to teething. He probably has a little virus or something. I would suggest keep alternating tylenol and motrin every 4 hours and if the fever is still present after 2 days, he should be seen again by the doctor. Sometimes an ear infection can cause this and not be recognized right away if the fluid is behind the ear drum....Just watch him and see if he shows any other symptoms other than the teething. HTH, and good luck, hope he feels better soon.
Reply:I would guess your son probably has some type of virus. My children have had just fevers with no other symptoms too. Hopefully he'll be feeling better in the next day or so. Good luck. I know it is awful to see your child sick.
Reply:Most likely if he doesn't have any other symptoms or signs as you say. My daughter is going through the same thing as well (she is also 10 months old). Teething affects every baby differently. I would keep alternating between the Tylenol and Motrin, that always seems to work the best. However if the fever is there for another day or so I would call the doc again. Have him suck/chew on a cold washcloth, it relieves the pain of teething and will also help his temp go down a little.
Reply:It is generally accepted that teething may cause low grade fevers. High grade fevers, such as your child's, is probably due to a virus. Give plenty of fluids and keep her comfortable.
Reply:My daughter...who is about to be 2...had a few fevers that got pretty high when she was teething. However my son never got fevers...he was just really fussy. Follow your gut...if you feel that it is something else..take him back to the doctor's. It is better to be safe than sorry...and that is what the doctor's are there for! I hope he feels better soon :)
Reply:If your doctor said that teething doesn't cause those kinds of temps, you need to call him or go to the ER. Excessive and long fevers can cause seizures! Good luck to you and the little guy!
Reply:Is he drooling a lot? Does he have rash on his bottom? Those two things were always present and lack of appetite and fever too. I know everyone says no fever but Im sorry I think its part of it. Or it can be teething lowers immunity so a concurrent virus attacks. Either way, ss long as fever is below 103 its ok. Try to replace the fluids though, lost through the fever. 100.8 is fine now. Usually they spike late afternoons just as yours did. Then you age so much and in a few days all is well ! Sorry
Reply:Hun, you need to up his fluid intake. But personally, I would take him to Clear Lake Regional ER asap!!
Reply:No teething does not cause fevers that high. My 16 month old just got over a nasty virus. High fevers spiking to 104 and 105 at night. The only way I could control them was to alternate Tylenol and Motrin. She had a cough and several days later had a runny nose. I took her to the doctor 2 times during the week she was sick and she even had a chest x-ray. She is fine now. When she is teething, which she is, she maybe get a temp right around 100, but not really high. I hope your baby feels better.
Reply:my 10 month old recently did the same thing and we took her to the doc. i though it was from teething but she actually had an ear infection, you may want the doc. the check the babys ears just in case

Teething trouble?

My babys 4 months and starting teething, i cant see any yet but she has all the tell tell signs, i have calpol and also bonjela for her, but please how long will this crying go on for? i feel helpless anything else i can do, from a mother to a mother!

Teething trouble?
damp washcloth to chew on....from fridge/freezer

I used the holistic teething pills for my kids and orajel. tylenol is the only pain reliever you can use right now....but after 6 months, motrin is best!
Reply:this is just something she has to go through I'm afraid. It will probably be on and off for 3 or 4 months, but you'll both get through it- it does stop eventually.

Good luck, don't get down
Reply:Best thing i ever used.......cut a bagel in half and put it in the freezer.

the cold soothes.....the biting helps ease the soreness and they actually get a little bit out of the bagel.
Reply:try some baby orajel
Reply:There are products out now that are little mesh bags with a handle like a frozen pop. (I know you can get them at www.target.com) In this mesh bag you can place frozen fruits or veggies. This has helped several of my families children with teething. They love the "special" snack and the cold helps numb their pain.

Good luck!
Reply:My son had all of the tell tale signs of teething from 3 or 4 months on...and never got a tooth until his 9 mo.birthday! Humphries are holistic pills that are supposed to help the discomfort, and now that he's older, we give him frozen bagels to clamp down on, but 4 mos. is a bit early for that.A frozen washcloth might help, but basically you have to ride it out.She might have some rough nights, and then may go weeks where she's fine...hang in there and good luck!
Reply:get some teething granules from homeopathic shop - they are natural and disolve immediatley and provide relief - infant granules even work on adults - believe me i know.

start massaging the gums, get a finger baby toothbrush - and use it to gently massage the gums

give them something warm to suck on - however most babies wont suck on cold items cause its uncomfortable - have you tried having a cold item when you have toothache - maybe get a warm flannel and let your baby nibble on it
Reply:Once her tooth or teeth pop in she will be fine! The pain is not always easy on a little one! Look to see if a white spot on her gums is showing! That will show where the tooth is comming in! Usually it is the bottom teeth that come in first.
Reply:dont use the gel for teething to much or it makes the gums even more raw ... its a big mistake alot of mothers do... best thing to do for teething is to give your baby tempra or tylonal for babies ... im not sure if advil makes it for babies but you might want to check that out... just use as recommended theres not much else you can do other then that and give alot of hugs and kisses. not to worry it passes.....good luck

Teething Symptoms?

My 5 month old son has been getting little fevers that will come and then go within a cuople of hours. He has been very irratable lately for about a week. My spouse says that I should take him to the doctor to see what is wrong, but I have this feeling that he may just be experiencing symptoms of his first tooth coming thru! Anyone dealing with the same problems right now? What do you do to calm them down when they are like this? I have given him cold teething rings (does not like)!

Teething Symptoms?
My son has been teething foreverit seems. last night his favorite thing to start chewing on was a new clean nose surenge (sp) I found that anything he wants to chew on works. As for the pain at night. I smear a little of the baby orjel on his binky and then let him put it back in his mouth...that way I dont have to fight with him to get it on his gums. Something that I have found that sooths the swelling a little is: making apot of camimile tea and soaking a wash cloth in it. I put the wash cloth in a baggie and stick it in the fridge to cool. he walks around the house chewing on that all evening long.
Reply:You can let him chew on a frozen waffle. Just be careful . When it starts to thaw, take it from him. When he really seems like he is in pain, a little Tylenol goes a long way.
Reply:Yes, probably teething. Try some Tylenol, you will have to call the doctor for the correct dosage because it goes by weight and at that age the dosage is not on the bottle. Also, try rubbing a bit of orajel on his sore gums. Is there a lot of drool? That is a sure sign a tooth is coming. If you look at his gums you may be able to see the white of the tooth coming in or it may be swollen.
Reply:My baby just chewed on everything especially his fingers when his first two teeth were coming through. Some babies respond well to the gels you can put on their gums and a little baby panadol or whatever the brand is where you are is not a bad idea if they are really distressed. You can feel their gums and you'll be able to feel the teeth coming through and you'll know for sure whether he is teething.
Reply:Babies do get mild fevers when they are teething. Nothing to worry about but if it gets too high then take him to the hospital. Also, they grab their ears when they teeth. I took my baby to the doctors because I thought she might have an ear infection and it turned out to be just teething. They can feel it in their jaws and the jaw is close to the ear so they end up grabbing those. My daughter didnt like the teething rings either so we stuck a damp washcloth in the freezer for a few minutes and let her suck on that and it did the trick. You can also put a pacifier in the freezer for a little bit. Tylenol infant drops also worked. I would give my daughter half a dose to take the edge off her pain. A full dose would knock her out.
Reply:symptoms: fever, aching gum, crying, rubbing the gums

you can give the baby something cold to suck on to soothe his mouth. there are also medicines he can take to get rid of the pain completely. talk to your doctor.

Teething question...?

How old did your child start showing signs of teething? How long after they showed the signs did you see the white?

Teething question...?
My daughter started teething at 10 months. You could see her gums were red and swollen. It took about 3 months to actually see the white and it seemed like overnight, it broke through. My middle son was so different. He didn't start teething until he was about 16 months old. He just wanted cool things in his mouth. He loved me to put his crackers and other snacks in the freezer. It took about 1 month to see white but another 4 months for the tooth to come all the way in. My last son started teething around his first birthday. He wanted to chew on food like pizza crust. He loved pizza and could gum-chew an entire piece of pizza from the time he was about 6 months old. His tooth came in about 1 month after he started teething. It just showed up one day! There is not an actual age that they should start teething. If you are concerned about your child, talk to your doctor or take your baby to a dentist whose specialty is dealing with children. He/She can take an exray and see if the teeth are close to coming in.
Reply:My daughter started teething at 4 months and within 2 months you could see the white in her gums but the tooth did not pop through until she was 8 1/2 months old.
Reply:My friends son was 4months and he had signs of teething.
Reply:My daughter had all the normal signs of teething, as in the drooling and all, around 3 months. However, she didn't actually get any teeth in until around 14 months! Things went well, when she got the first bottom two she woke up two nights, but would just lay with her father for a couple hours then go back to sleep. Getting her other ones in hasn't been any bother at all, you just know it cuz she has her hand and everything else shoved in her mouth! She's had the other signs, like different bowel movements, slight fever, runny nose with the other teeth, but nothing that bothered her at all.
Reply:None of my children got teeth until they were well over 8 months
Reply:my baby was 5 months old.I saw the white part coming up about 2-3 weeks later.
Reply:My son starting showing signs at 2 in a half months. At 4 months we saw a tooth.
Reply:My son is 7 months old and has his two bottom from teeth. He began showing signs of teething (ie: swollen gums, low grade fever and drooling) at around 3 months and by month 5 there they were. They came in within a day of eachother. Now, at 7 months, he continues to drool like a St. Bernard, and his top gums are super swollen, and the Dr. says they're on their way, but I cant see or feel them yet. Remember though---all babies are different and develop at different rates with milestones at different times/ages.
Reply:I've read it varies from child to child. However, my son started teething at 3.5 months of age approximately. He just turned 6 months a couple of days ago, and just cut through a week ago. It still hasn't grown all the way through, you can feel the sharp ridge.

Signs of teething:

increased saliva, drooling, anxious to chew and bite things, swollen gum-line, at least 3 months of age, it can also be accompanied with fever or diarhea.

How to soothe:

oral-gel, cold teething chew toys, rub his gum with a cool rag, give recommended dosage of Tylenol for pain relief, breast-feed for soothing. I personally feed him cool baby food (i.e: carrots, applesauce, etc.) and it calms him down, then I let him hold his rubber spoon to chew on. He loves this!

Hope this helps!

Teething tablets?

I know this girl that gave her 6 month old baby teething tablets, and now she has hives.

HOw could she get hives from that?

What can she do to make her more comfortable?

Teething tablets?
She's most likely allergic to an ingredient in the teething tablets. Have her talk to a pediatrician to determine which ingredient it is.

Have her take an oatmeal bath and just make sure she doesn't irritate the hives.
Reply:call the doctor or ask the pharmacist. maybe a small dose of childrens benedryl if they don't make infants.
Reply:You can get hives from anything. Teething tablets contain many ingredients and if the baby is allergic to one of them, hives could occur. She needs to call the baby's pediatrician and find out the appropriate dosage of baby/children's benadryl for her baby's weight. The ped may also tell her to take a cool bath or something like that - I'm not sure.

Teething at 5 months?

my first baby never cried when he was teething...do babies teeth at 5 months..whats the best thing for it he was up all night and he had a little fever

Teething at 5 months?
Yes, babies can cut teeth at 5 months old. Yes, it is painful for them. Teething tablets are my suggestion. Make sure your hands are clean, take one tablet and place on your finger. Rub your finger on the babies gums till the tablet disappears. This should give temporary relief.

Orajel is ok, but easy for the baby to wipe out (on blanket or sucking on hands).

Froze carrot sticks may cool treats (with supervision). Frozen teethers are great. So are cold wet washcloth.

Tylenol is good for a fever, but not continuously. Using Tylenol for every little pain is not good for the kidneys of a baby or young child.
Reply:Sounds like teething. And baby's tend to cry when they teeth. It will help if you give them some baby Tylenol and baby Ora gel. Frozen teething rings also help. Good luck
Reply:Baby's can teeth at any age i gave mine Aston and parsons teething powder i think its spelt like that you can get it from chemists hope it helps.
Reply:My babies both got their first teeth at 5 monthes.

Give them a teething ring to chew on.

Check with the doctor about giving the baby a tyenol type medication. There is a special doseage for babies.
Reply:My twins both had their first 2 teeth by 4 1/2 months. Neither of them really cried either. They were more irritable than normal , and slight fever but nothing else. Our pediatrician prescribed Ibuprofen and the use baby orajel. Both seemed to help.
Reply:You can usually use any children's fever reducer but if you are in doubt ask your child's doctor.
Reply:The average is about 6 months. Some babies teeth earlier, my son was teething at 2 months, others don't until they are a year old, so yes, babies do teeth at 5 months. I found the best for late night teething was to give him tylonal or motrin. The motrin seemed to last longer than tylonal and to relieve the pain before the motrin or tylonal kicked in I would rub on infant oragel. He would complain that I was touching his sore gums but as soon as I applied it he would calm down and fall right to sleep. My son complained most at night so it makes it tough on your sleep but the steps above would help us get more sleep and it will pass, I promise. Good luck.
Reply:you can put Orajel on his gums or give him some baby Tylenol (one dropperful of the infant stuff). The Orajel helps with the topical pain and the Tylenol with the fever and the pain, too. During the day, give him something to chew on (pacifier or teething ring). My one is almost 5 months and drools like a leaky faucet. Good luck!

Teething again sorry!!!!?

my daughter is now refusing food or eating little not drinking milk just 7-9oz is this normal when teething it seams like sucking juice and milk hurts and shes very grumpy having almost tantrums any advice please!!!!

Teething again sorry!!!!?
Try giving her baby tylenol about 1/2 hour before a feeding, baby orajel about 2-3 minutes before feeding. Follow proper dosing, and call your pediatrician if you're not sure about dosage (even if they're closed on the weekend, there's usually a nurse or doctor on call). Our pediatrician said I could do the baby tylenol up to twice a day if she was really having trouble eating, even if there were no other problems.

My baby had this problem, as well. She ended up moving to larger, less frequent feedings. She also wants to eat more SOLID foods when teething. I think it's because she doesn't have to suck, and she can bite down on the rubber spoon. I don't know if your daughter has started foods yet, but you could try this.

If she won't do solids, either, try getting a dropper, like the ones you use to administer medication. Put the milk in that and you can squirt the milk into her mouth (aim for the side of a cheek). That way, she won't have to suck. It will be slower going, but she might get some satisfaction that way.

Depending on how old your baby is (I'm assuming at least 4 mos if she's teething?), you could try feeding her from a cup as well. My girl is almost 5 mos, and she can drink from a cup if I hold it for her. Use a flexible one where you can pinch it together a bit to make a "spout" - it will be a VERY messy process. :-)
Reply:get a teething ring and some baby ambesol
Reply:give her some popsicles. that will numb the pain, plus they taste good!
Reply:If she wont eat, try giving her milk in a regular cup. It will take a lot more time but it wont hurt as much as sucking.
Reply:this is very normal, and we all still worry about them when it happens. soak a baby wash cloth in cold water and stick it in the freezer for a few moments to let it get a little icy, then let her chew on it...also depending on age, get her some gerber biter biscuits to chew on, she'll be getting a little something in her tummy, and satisfying her need to chew on things..not reccommended on babies under 6 months
Reply:Tylenol- that's the only advice I have for you- that is the only thing that helps some for my son- who is 13 months now- he has always been very fussy during teething. Other things to help calm him down some are going outside, baths, reading a book to him, singing to him and holding him. Goodluck! Our son still has those moments like that.
Reply:Chamomile and Hylands teething tables are great for teething issues. Gripewater is also very good to help babies with teething pain.

Teething biscuits...?

What brand of teething biscuits do you buy or have you bought?

Why?

Teething biscuits...?
Gerber biter biscuits are awesome! They taste like cookies and they dont break apart like other brands. When the baby slobbers all over them, they kind of melt in layers so that there is no choking!! Although I recommend keeping an eye on the child because once the biscuits get so small, they can be swallowed!
Reply:I strongly prefer the Gerber ones. The other brand (Beech Nut) fell apart in large chunks in his mouth, which is a choking hazard.
Reply:I have some gerber banana cookies right now.

BUT .. have you seen the little things that have a mesh bag so you can put solid foods in them and you baby can get all the flavor but not big bits that can choke them? I love it! You can put bananas, apples, anything in them and there is no choking risk. I have used it with all three of my kids, and I highly reccomend you try it, most importantly when you are first introducing your baby to "real" foods. You can find them by the other feeding supplies .. the names vary by brand, of course, but the one I just bought is a "Munchkin" brand. My youngest is almost 5 months and has been chewing so much I went ahead and started using it with her.
Reply:I used the arrowroot crackers cuz they stay firm longer, and are not half as messy as some of the other teething bisquits. The others seem to dissolve really fast, and scared me as I thought my sons may choke on some of the small pieces. In reality, they don't really need them. Just give them a warm or cool washcloth to chew on. My boys seemed to enjoy that. Plus, they can't choke on it, its reusable, and it is self cleaning, as it mops up the drool as they chew!!
Reply:I have used Gerber. The biter biscuits. They are great, my son loves them. I've eaten some before, and they are nice and tasty.

I dont like the beach nut banana ones. They get soggy real quick, and my son has kinda gagged on them.
Reply:My daughter used to chow down on the Gerber teething biscuits. They are a lot harder than the other brands, in my opinion.

However, once my daughter got her top and bottom teeth, she would simply bite off huge chunks, so I haven't botten those in a while.
Reply:Gerber Biter Biscuits, Beechnut....anything that is specified for teething babies is fine... personally I prefer the gerber one's...
Reply:i use gerber graduates biter biscuits. my son loves them. and the only thing with the teething biscuits is that they are VERY messy, so be prepared when you give them.

Teething signs?

what are some signs/symtoms that your baby is teething?

Teething signs?
The biggest signs of teething for our daughter are:

- rosy cheeks and sometimes chin

- drooling

- chewing on EVERYTHING

- pulling at her gums with her fingers

- irritable

- wants to cuddle ALL the TIME!

Our little one already has 4 teeth at 8 months old. It is starting to look like she might be teething again too! She has been showing 3 of the above signs the last three days!
Reply:Drooling, sucking/gnawing on fingers, fist, anything within reach...irritable, chewing on the nipple/pacifier instead of sucking, slight fever, change in sleep pattern, not as interested in eating...there are a lot.
Reply:drooling, putting anything and everything in their mouth (hands etc...) really bad diapers (runny) sometimes a fever, cranky, sleep pattern is off and not eating very well
Reply:drools, putting everything in mouth, chewing on you fingers, chin,or everything else too! fevers, runny noses! lots of things , earaches!
Reply:gets cranky, vomiting, diarhea, feels his gums constantly.

Teething tablets?

I keep seeing people use the name Hylands teething tablets. What are they and where can you buy them?

Teething tablets?
I get mine at Walmart in the vitamin aisle...ask the pharmacist if you can't find them. My kids loved them! I still have to hide them my 2 yr old thinks they're candy and the 7 wants them because her perm teeth are coming in! They are also great for a colicky baby, just dissolve in a bit of water first an use a med dropper! They are tiny and melt fast so you may end up with some on your fingers if you have a drooler! It tastes like coffee creamer...I always taste my kids' meds and baby food (just not the breast milk :} )

BTW children's Motrin made my throat burn. I don't recommend it... but the chewables are okay later.
Reply:They are a good alternative for teething from Tylenol..so dangerous. My son does well with the Hylans. They have chamomile in them which helps calm him when he's upset from his teeth:(

I got mine at Walgreens, and I've seen them at Target. It's a tiny little white bottle.
Reply:You can buy them just about anywhere. If I were you I would be the Hyland Tablets and then have another method for teething. These tablets don't work for every baby.
Reply:They are a homeopathic teething wonder! They melt under baby's tongue (although sometimes we just shoved them in our sons' mouths LOL) and when they melt they offer pain relief.

I found it was sort of spotty to find them - look with the other teething ointments and gels at your local drug store or grocery store. I ordered a bottle from www.drugstore.com once as well.
Reply:I found mine at Walmart in the vitamin section.
Reply:I was just told about these myself, and you can find them at most major retailers, ie Walmart and Walgreens.
Reply:We got ours at CVS and they are great. my son thinks they are candy too. They really melt fast.
Reply:We got ours at Wal-mart. But, beware, they don't always work. We got them for our daughter, and she loved to eat them, but she still had enough pain to still be quite uncomfortable and whiny. Best bet is cold wash clothes and popsicles.....worked wonders.
Reply:I bought some for my daughter at walgreens and at cvs but warning before you buy them... they don't always work and when they do not very long.
Reply:They are tablets that melt in baby's mouth. They help ease the pain caused by teething. I got my daughters at Wal-Mart %26amp; Walgreens

Teething Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

6 month old who I think is teething. My son is a nightmare. Clingy, screaming, chewing on everything, not as much drool now, no diarrhea, not sleeping well, eating fine, just plain miserable!

I see nothing coming thru his gums. His ears have been checked also. I don't know what to look for in the gums. It has been a week of total misery. Does the process go on and on for a while?

Teething Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
My son is teething too! My peditrician recommended NOT using Orajel, because it numbs the entire mouth, and confuses them. I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and got some Hylands Teething Tablets. They are tiny little homeopathic tablets that disolve in his mouth. They have natural ingrediants to help with the swelling, irratibility, pain and helps the teeth break through. They were like $5.99 for 250 and you use like 2 or 3 at a time, as needed.

You can also dip a clean washcloth in apple juice, and freeze it until its slushy. If you only dip one corner, it won't get too cold for him to hold, because the cloth will be dry. You can do this with water too, but the water freezes solid, and juice will usually only get slushy.
Reply:Glad I could help! Report It

Reply:You can tell if his teeth are coming through, by if you see any whiteness on the bottom or top of his gums. Have you tried the baby orajel? That worked for my son. It is just a process you have to go through. You can also try some infant tylenol for his pain. Good Luck!
Reply:unfortunately...yes. you will eventually feel small bumps on his gums that is when the pain really starts. if your son is healthy otherwise try baby oragel it really does help. also a teething ring with gel in that you put in the freezer helps a lot. good luck.
Reply:Yes, it does go on for awhile. The tooth has to break through the gum first and you won't notice any physical sign of a tooth for awhile. Teeth can come in, and then disappear again. But, just FYI, diarrhea is NOT a sign of teething. Teething is all in the mouth.. therefore it is not an infection. A fever is also NOT a sign of teething..ignore anyone who tells you that. If your child gets a fever, they are getting sick, not gettng a tooth.

If he's eating fine, but chewing everything, give him some oragel when he starts screaming. He's in pain and oragel will soothe that well. Nighttime oragel is best at night because it helps them sleep, as well as taking the pain away. Good Luck
Reply:first i hae to say i feel for you i am going thru the ssame thing with my 1 yr old right now 4 of his back teeth at once all broke thru finally. i wet a washcloth and rolled it and put like 2 or 3 drops of baby pain reliever on it and it sort of numbed it and made it stop hurting for awhile i also gave him frozen french frys and a vibrating teething ring. once the teeth come thru he wont be fusy anymore. as far as what to look for you want to feel his gums for little hard spots or it you touch it and he acts like it hurts or crys then it is deff. his teeth. hope this helps.

When will the teething pain stop???

my 4 month old has started teething. you can kinda see the outline of the teeth underneath the gums. i wanna know how long i should expect her to go threw all that pain. any tips on dealing with teething would be wonderful, thx

When will the teething pain stop???
My daughter started teething at 3 months and at 7 still has no teeth. It can take awhile, even when you can feel the teeth, sometimes they will go back in. My daughter's teeth have almost come in 3-4 times already. I've noticed it tends to be bad for a few days, then they will have a stretch of time where it doesn't seem so painful that they can't ignore it. Here are some suggestions to help

Infant tylenol or motrin(talk to doc 1st)

Hylands homeopathic teething tablets, available at Wal-mart

Refrigerated rubber teething rings

Freeze a clean damp washcloth and let her chew it

let her gnaw on a cold carrot(once she has teeth it can break and become a choking hazard

Baby orajel

Rub pure vanilla extract on their gums, it has a minimal amount of alcohol that will help sooth them

Simply rub gums firmly, using your finger or an infant toothbrush(one of those rubber caps for your index finger with bristles)

Try a teething blanket, it has rubberized corners, my daughter loves hers

Buy a fresh food feeder(wal-mart) and put ice cubes in it

I also let my daughter chew on an unopened freezer pop and will let her drink a little of it sometimes to, lol

Keep in mind that the teething pain is worst until the 1st tooth comes in, then baby learns to adjust and it won't bug her as much.

Good luck!
Reply:be prepared for a bit of a long deal because as soon as one comes through and feels better it seems as if there's always another right behind to start again. i found a secret weapon though it is in a little bottle that looks like lip gloss , clear with a black lid, and the stuff inside is like hot pink ,and i can only find it at one store where i live which is CVS pharmacy , it cost a little more than oragel or stuff like that but it is WORTH IT! also if you get teething rings like the kind with water in them DON"T freeze them just put them in fridge, it bruises the babies gums because they get to hard. hope this helps and good luck!!!!!
Reply:It usually takes a month or two for a tooth to completely come through. Try getting her one of those teething rings that can be frozen and freeze it enough that it's slushy inside but not completely frozen. It will give her something to chew on and the coldness will help to numb her gums so they won't hurt her as much. You can also find baby Orajel if she seems to be hurting a lot.
Reply:Expect teething pain to continue as long as teeth are coming in (through the second year molars). I am a big proponate of baby Tylenol, and giving the child something rubbery to chew on. If you have ever had tooth pain, then you can understand the frustrating pain that is associated with it. Thank goodness for baby Tylenol!!
Reply:I don't mean to scare you but my third baby is 21 months and still teething, he has been unfortunate unlike his sisters he has not had a break as much in-between.

We got him a lot of chew toys, the gel ones that you could freeze seem to work best, some medication once in a while like infant Tylenol helps too. If its at night we used the numbs it stuff as they call it, i think its lidocane but not sure.

Anyway it seems the pain varies and when they drool tends to be the times they are experiencing or about to experience the painful stages.

be assured it will all be alright.
Reply:When the tooth breaks through, the pain will stop. Then there will be pain again as the next tooth prepares to emerge. This will occur off and on until all the teeth are in....
Reply:my neice is 9 mon. old. she is teething and has been for the past few months. but all babies are different. when she is teething we just put put orijel on her binki and it gets in her mouth... that helps a lot... and then we put to wash rags in the freezer (we wet them first) and when they are frozen we take one out and give them to her so that she can chew on it... when it isn't frozen anymore we put it back in the freezer and give her the other one..... try it... it works for my neice... maybe it will work for ur 4 moth old. good luck!

Teething or just oral exploration?

My 13 week old daughter is grabbing anything she can and shoving it in her mouth, she's not wanting her bottle - only drinking about half of what she should be - and is as crabby as anything. She is dribbling a lot more than normal, but I'm not sure if its from chomping on everything, her gums are only slightly swollen. I was extremely lucky with my other kids I didn't even know they were teething until they bit me lol so I'm really not sure what to be looking for

Teething or just oral exploration?
Sounds like she is teething.

The best thing I found when I was in that boat was offering my daughter a wet cloth to chomp on - its cooling and cant hurt her and bonjella (teething gel) was also a life saver when I couldnt get her to settle.

Talk to ur chemist about pain relief and keep an eye on her temperature as well coz this can increase during teething and also be making her crabby.

Good Luck! :o)
Reply:Some babies start drooling a lot a couple of months before the teeth actually come in. Good luck!
Reply:she could be teething buy some of the teething gel and rub it on her gums and see if that will help her.
Reply:i haven't tried this yet as my bubs are only 3 weeks old but I've been told that corn on the cob is great for teething bubs. You eat most of the corn off the cob, leaving little bits on and make sure the cob's still warm. Then give to your bub to go to town on. Also, cold metal spoons help soothe aching little gums. I used to babysit for a woman who used the last trick with her two daughters. Worked like a charm for them!!

Teething Medications??

So, my daughter is almost 4.5 months old now and she is starting to cut her first tooth. We noticed it this weekend when she was whining (not actually crying) constantly. She seems to do alright as long as something is in her mouth, plastic ring, pacifier, her fingers, a stuffed animal, etc., but she doesn't have the best coordination to hold something in her mouth constantly. She woke up SIX times last night and as soon as I'd give her the pacifier back she'd go right back to sleep (she usually does not require the pacifier to sleep at night), so I'm just curious, from personal experience, what medications do you other mothers/babysitters/etc. use for your children? I've read that too much oragel can make their gums tough and make teething more difficult and also if you use too much it can numb the back of their throats and make them choke. I also do not want to give her tylenol constantly, I try to only use that when she really needs it...

Teething Medications??
We use a dose of tylenol and orajel nighttime before bed. I have never heard of the Orajel making the gums tough. During the day I would give our son frozen waffles, bagels, frozen yogurt in the tube. Also if you soak a washcloth in water and freeze it, it makes a great teether. I also felt like I was giving too much tylenol but for nighttime it was best so all of us could get some sleep. I do agree with the other person on here that said if everyone was rested it was easier to deal with. Good luck!
Reply:Just give her one dose of baby tylenol before bed if she's teething, and through the day one application of oralgel if it's bad with lost of cold teething rings.
Reply:Hylands Teething tablets, and tylenol when she seems really miserable and before she goes to bed at night to help her feel more comfortable so that you all can sleep. Teething is much better to deal with when you and baby aren't so overtired.

When my daughter got older and started get her I-teeth she like to eat fozen asparagus of all things. She was a late teether though so she was 18 months before she got her I-teeth.

I have also heard of frozen bagel and frozen waffles making excellent teethers.
Reply:I used a powder called ashton and parsons it's a natural herb powder it does no harm and can use it as often as your child needs it.
Reply:If someone used enough orajel to numb a babys throat they aren't too bright. Use a pea sized ammount on her gums.

Help with teething ferrets??

The newest addition to our fur family are 2 11 week old male kits. They are still nippy, which isnt the problem, but im wondering what is good to buy for them to chew on? Im pretty sure they are teething, chewing way more than ferrets i have knowing of an older age and surely the metal bits on the cage wouldnt do any good for their teeth... I was just wondering if baby teething rusks would be any good, but then they have vegetable content... i have their basic diet down to pat, but just not sure about treats they can eat and stuff they can chew on and all that. Im in OZ and we are unable to order ferret treats online, as our customs wont let them in due to the meat product. Any other ideas? thanks so much

Help with teething ferrets??
Hi have you heard of the dog toys called 'Kong'? They look like a big rubber beehive......well anyway they make 'bird kongs' and have recently brought out a new 'ferret teething Kong'. I bought one off of the internet from a vet clinic in WA (i too live on Aus) It was about $15 plus postage and they LUUUVVVVV it!!!! Vet clinic address is www.balcattavet.com.au then you click on the small pets (in shopping) button up the top or if this works try : http://www.balcattavet.com.au/small%5Fpe... Maybe see if there is somewhere nearer you that sells them.

Good luck!!!!! hope this helps.
Reply:I would try soft rubber or latex chew toys that a toy puppy would chew on for teething. A small chew rope might also be good. Part of the problem is with two that age they are competing and playing and nipping each other. Separating them for a while might help.
Reply:Get some teething toys that babies use. They're safe and don't have any removable parts.

Son is teething?

my 3 month old has been teething for the past 3 or 4 weeks, there is the white bump on his gum and drool and red cheeks and gross poo and all that stuff. I ws rubbing teething gel onto his gum and it feels really rough, not smooth like it was. How much longer will it be now that its rough?

Son is teething?
Unfortunately, it could be a while. My daughter's teeth have come close to coming in 3-4 times, I could see it and everything, then a few days later she's not so irritable and it's not there anymore. My friend had it happen w/ all 4 of her kids. My brat is 7 mo now and still has no teeth. The drooling is usually pretty constant starting around that age and will really increase when teething is worst. I know how you feel, maybe you'll be lucky and he'll get one sooner instead of later :) Good luck!
Reply:My oldest got his bottom 2 teeth when he was 2 months old, but my younger two kids didn't get theirs till they were 9 and 10 months old, yet showed signs of teething for months. It's hard to tell, each baby is different. I wouldn't get him too used to teething gel though... he can build a resistance to it. Try letting him chew on a wet washcloth... that worked for my babies better than any teethers or gels.
Reply:3 MONTHS OLD.. it might not be a tooth

It might be something called a milk pearl

I'd take him into your Ped and ask. Milk pearls will go away on there own and they do the same thing as teething.. It's like a HARD white head on his gums..

Uncomfortable and annoying but will go away in a week or so.
Reply:It shouldn't take too long. My son was teething when he was 3-4 months old. I think it took him almost a 2 months just to get the bottom ones out.

Tips for Teething..... HELP!!!?

My 8 month old is teething he already has 2 on the bottom and is gettin 2 at the same time from the top... he didnt even act different for the ones on the bottom.. He usually only fusses right before he takes his naps and goes to bed at night.. i have teething tablets and tylenol.. he chews on a frozen rag... what else can i do..??? i just feel so bad for my little man

Tips for Teething..... HELP!!!?
I remember those days. The only other thing I can think of is baby oragel and teething rings.
Reply:You might want to try Baby Orajel.
Reply:My daughter liked the teethers you can freeze. I would also put her pacifiers in the fridge before I gave them to her. That seemed to help.

Good Luck!
Reply:'you are already doing just fine, the only other thing i can suggest would be baby oragel to put on his gums, when he seems to be having a bad time, I wouldn"t reccomend using it all of the time
Reply:nothing else really. you are doing everything right. just give him a big hug and kiss that calmed my son down as he knew i was there and when he fell asleep i gave him a teddy that smelt like me which helped him relax, also there are books on baby massage. there are some techniques for teething babies i do it with my 5 month and he loves it
Reply:My son is 6 months and his doc said it was okay if I put frozen or cold fruit in a mesh bag. My son has 1 tooth and getting his second one in and he loves it.

Hope this helps.
Reply:You could feed him popsicles if he's extra fussy, this will help keep him hydrated too.

Four month old with teething pain?

My four month old daughter is teething. She is normally so happy and smily, however no she just crys and fusses and wants to nurse day and night. I have tried teething gel- she hates it and screams (I think she doesn't like the numbing effect) I've given her tylenol- no effect, cold teething rings- she pushes them away. The only thing that will some times work- I have her bassinet (which she is to big for) set up in her room with toys in it, next to it is the rocker. She will sit on my lap, lean forward and grab the top rim of the bassinet and chew on it. Sometimes she will do this for 20 min. at a time.

Does anyone else have any other ideas to help ease her pain?

Four month old with teething pain?
Our son was like that. Teething stinks. Here's what worked for us, http://www.munchkin.com/products/detail.... We added frozen berries and bananas to it, even ice cubes. He would suck on that thing forever and loved the flavors of different foods. He got some nutrition, and it numbed his gums. Hope that helps!
Reply:i like all of the other answers but my daughters peditrician recomended teething drops they works instantly they are great! They are exspecially great for children like mine she is two months two weeks old and already teething! Report It

Reply:Exactly what you are doing. She will let you know what feels the best. ANd it looks like she found it. I would take that piece off, so she can teeth with it in a more comfortable position (as long as their aren't chokable parts).
Reply:They make a vibrating teether that my 4 month old son likes. It's funny because he makes funny faces when I first give it to him, but then he enjoys it. It's heavy and he can't hold it yet, so I hold it for him.

he also enjoys to chew on a clean burp rag or a bib he has on.
Reply:my son loved a cold wet wash cloth. I would just wet it and ring it out and stick it in the freezer for a few minutes and hand it to him, He would chew on it till he was tired of it.
Reply:If you have some rum or coniac in the house, dip your finger into the liquid and rub it on her gum. This helpsto mildly numb her gum, and relaxes her a bit.

I know it sounds bad, but my baby's Pediatric told me to do it and it worked for my baby.
Reply:I am in the exact same situation with my little boy, he is 4 months and two weeks. He will not even nurse sometimes, he gets fussy, red and squirms away. He puts everything in his mouth except for the teething ring, pacifier and whatever else he is supposed to be using along those lines. My doctor told me to use Orajel but that is only temporary and to use Tylenol but I do not want to drug him everyday. I have tried ouzo/raki (alcohol) but that will only burn. The doctor said to definately not do that, it is only for grown up toothaches, it burns the baby more then relax/numb it. Sometimes I rub my finger along his gums and that seems to settle him for a bit.

Symptoms when teething?

I think my 19 month old son is getting his eye teeth. What arre common symptoms of that. He has had a nasty runny nose for about 4 days, and yesterday his eyes started watering pretty bad now he has a mid grade fever. Are these all common with teething or is he sick on top of teething. please.

Symptoms when teething?
sounds like allergies that have turned into a cold to me. My kids have mild allergies but then it ends up turing into a cold everytime.
Reply:could be otherwise there is a nasty cold going around
Reply:My son went through exactly the same thing recently. It is quite normal.

My son really started having sever pains and fevers though. We took him down A%26amp;E one night and they recommended double dosing him with paracetamol, and giving him Piraton (analgesic to help him sleep).

Please please, do not do the same without checking with your GP/ Doctor first, every child is different...

Good luck, and don't worry too much, that's the joy of growing up....
Reply:my daughter is going through the same thing. Shes cutting both her bottom 2 eye teeth and 1 tooth beside the eye tooth together. She has been running a fever up to 102F, runny nose, and a cough for the last week. I thought it was due to teething but took her to her doctor on friday that said it was a virus.

My baby teething?

ok so my baby girl is 4 months old and i dont kno but i think she might be starting to teeth..im not sure though..she is chewing on her fingers alot and drooling more than usual..shes really cranky and irritable and i kno she doesnt have a fever or anything..shes been like this for 3 days now..could she be teething? if so what can i do to calm her down she wont take a teething ring...any advice? thank you

My baby teething?
sounds like teething to me, try baby oregel(did spell that right lol) or teething tablets. if u can ease her pain she might take the teething ring which will help cut the teeth faster.
Reply:Yes it's teething. You can give the cool but not frozen teethers, baby orajel the over night formula works best, and also try a clean wet washcloth to chew on. Talk to your doctor about pain management.
Reply:"breastfeeding is a great way to help soothe the baby. The sucking seems to massage the gums while calming the baby. Another trick to try is a frozen washcloth. Just soak a washcloth with drinking water and place in the freezer. Babies love it as it is cold and moulds itself around their gums. I haven’t mentioned teething rings yet because I have found them to only be effective for short periods of time. It is cheaper and perhaps more effective to clean some of the baby’s plastic toys so that he/she can gnaw on it. Select toys with no sharp edges and no parts that can be pulled off. "

" You can help soothe teething pain in a number of ways:

* Biting hard objects, such as teething rings, can provide some comfort to the child during the teething process.

* Cold. A frozen banana or popsicle may also soothe the gums during teething.

* Numbing. Teething gels like Baby Orajel or Baby Ambesol, can be applied. Some of these gels contain sugar so they should be used judiciously.

* Baby ibuprofen. This analgesic can be given to your baby during a particularly difficult episode."

Here is another website with suggestions: http://www.healthmad.com/Children/How-to...
Reply:give her a cold, whole pickle to gum on; she sure could be teething. I had a doc tell me that the most pain is before the teeth actually cut and that it can take a while before they actually do cut through so be patient. Other ideas for teether relief; peeled, washed, whole large carrots w/ thin end broken off so it doesn't break off in babys mouth; your clean fingers, if it is really bad tylenol or baby orajel
Reply:Yep. It sounds like she's teething sure enough. Even though she's teething, don't be surprised if you don't see the teeth break through for awhile. It can take awhile.

When my daughters were teething, there were a few things that really seemed to help them. Some of these might help with your daughter:

1. Freeze one of her pacifiers (if she uses them).

2. Freeze some string cheese or a banana. If she's not taking the teething ring, she might like these. They're cold, they taste good, and they're the right shape.

3. Use your finger to gently rub her gums.

4. If she'll let you rub her gums, try it with a little baby oragel on your finger.

Good luck!
Reply:my son is the same age and just cut his first tooth!

he really liked sucking on a warm, damp (clean!) rag and i got some soothing chamomile drops (no tyelnol or anything like that.... all natural) that really seemed to soothe him.

my son didn't run a fever, but he was (and still is- i think he's trying to get another one already!) drooling buckets, let me tell you!

are the teething rings you are trying to give your daughter chilled? if they are, try to introduce them to her again after getting them back to room temperature. my son didn't like teething rings that were chilled at all and he wanted one that he could hold onto himself, so maybe finding something smaller would help.

anyway, good luck!!! the minute that tooth breaks the skin, though, she'll be back to her old self!!!

Reply:she is most likely teething, my advice is teething tabs, they're homeopathic. also, boil some old keys and put them in the fridge, it helps cut the gums a little and make it easier for the teeth to come in. i've raised 2 kids and am starting on my grandson. it's worked like a charm. you should also give her tylenol if she gets too fussy because it does hurt.

What does teething mean(for cats)? i think mine mite be teething, what are the sighns?

my cat is young and is drooling. and hasnt lost her baby teeth yet. what are other sighnes of teething. and what does it meen to teeth? thankyou to everyone for the help.

What does teething mean(for cats)? i think mine mite be teething, what are the sighns?
same as people. they chew things to relieve pressure.

when they are chewing, theyre losing their teeth
Reply:hehe, she will be biting on your hand and the ends of the couch soon, all kittens do this, its part of exploring and growing up, she will grow outta it, but it just takes time, try buying some rubber small doggie toys, just so she wont ruin the coffee table like mine did:) good luck!
Reply:Kittens usually begin teething at around 4 months old and should have all their adult teeth by the time they are around 6 months old.

Teething is painful because the new teeth have to push through their gums. As a result, kittens often begin chewing on hard or rubbery things as a way of coping with the pain. There are soft rubber toys that you can buy for teething kittens to chew. Alternatively, take a clean face cloth, knot it, dampen it with water and then put it in the freezer to chill. Chewing on something cool like the cloth, can also help relieve the pain of inflamed gums. (Similar to those gel teething rings that you put in the freezer for babies .)
Reply:Just like humans, cats have 2 sets of teeth. The first set is called the milk teeth or deciduous teeth and they start to come in when the kitten is about 4 weeks old. They continue to come in until all 26 milk teeth have appeared, usually by 6 weeks. These teeth are non-permanent and they begin to fall out from 11 weeks until 30 weeks.

This is a time which is similar to teething in human babies, so the kitten may have sore gums, may do a bit of complaining and may eat less due to pain. During the time when the milk teeth are falling out, new permanent teeth are coming in until all 30 of them have developed and have replaced the milk teeth usually by 8-9 months.

Question about teething and bleeding gums?

My 18 month old i THOUGHT has been teething because of the extra drool and all the other signs, but just now he had bloody drool. My oldest didn't bleed when her teeth came out, i was wondering if this is normal? His teething is a lot worse than hers was.

Question about teething and bleeding gums?
Yes, bleeding is normal. All babies are different. Some will bleed others won't. Some drool more than others. Some are crankier than others. As long as it's a small amount of blood, i woulnd't worry about it.
Reply:AS long as it is a little blood its fine. There are sharp teeth coming in. Just make sure to give them some Tylenol and maybe some Oragel and something to chew on.

Is He Teething?

My son just turned 4 months December 29th! hes been drooling like crazy for about a month so much so it leekes through his bib and onto his sleepers and im having to change him at least 3 times daily his appitite has changed so much and spts up alot all the time. hes a really good baby not a crier at all! now hes crying quite a bit and nawing on everything his thumb any toys i give him i mean everything. i cant feel any teeth in his mouth yet but you can see the whites of his two top front teeth through his gums. my question is, is he teething? I've tried to relive him through a teething ring and he has no interest in it so I've been weting a cloth and letting him naw on that only in my presents of course, does anyone have any other ideas? ive also bought him baby orajel but i dont want to give that to him untill we have talked to the doctor and we dont have his next appointment for the next few days.. any help is greatly appriciated. thanks

Is He Teething?
YES...he's definately teething however you won't see a tooth appear for a while. You'll notice that he'll have loose bowel movements due to all the saliva so be sure to change him often to prevent diaper rash.

It's so very hard for the little ones at this time, and for you too b/c you must feel as helpless as I did when my 2 kids went through it. A few suggestions to try:

1. Put a bagel in the freezer and let him chew on it

2. Give him pain relief especially before sleep times.

3. Buy at least 5-6 teething rings that go in the freezer

4. Let him chew a small freezie (not open)

5. Use a small amount of oragel (you can find it at any pharmacy)

6. MOM....breath....I know it`s hard but get used to it because he`s got lots more teeth to come in...be calm and patient. You`ll get through this and so will he.

Good Luck!
Reply:It sounds like it! Nothing to worry about, just dip your finger in whiskey and rub it on the gums. Works every time!
Reply:Yes he is teething i have a baby cousin who starting growing his teeth when came to visit me if you go to the store like CVS you can get baby oragel and it will quite him down for i few hours and chewing on things is a regular sign when there 4-6 months they usally start teething
Reply:yes he is teething...give him the baby origel you bought him it wont hurt him in anyway itll just make him feel better...and give him 0.4 on the syringe of infant tylenol ...he will be fine these are the things that my doc told me when my child was teething...also try putting the teething ring n the freezer for a while...then give it to him he still might not want it my little girl never did
Reply:my brother was just like that when he was teething and he is a good baby too and he still is teething a little so ya i would say he might be teething and what u can do is my mom put teething rings in the freezer then gave them to him and he love it and a wet wash cloth u can put it in the freezer while its wet but don't let it freeze and its super cold they really like that im sorry if any of my info doesn't work it worked with my brother good luck and Happy New Year!
Reply:He's definately teething. Drooling, %26amp; you can see the whites of the teeth soon to poke through the skin. You didnt mention, but babies get really cranky too while teething thats another sign.

Usually teething rings kept in the refrigerator so they are good and cold (soothing to the painful little gums) %26amp; cold wet washcloths are good for teething babies. But it sounds like you've already tried those without much success. If he isnt interested in the teething ring cold, you might flavor it somehow to get his interest. Like use a little of his food/drink smeared on one area of the teething ring so it doesnt taste like plastic.

Ask your doctor at his next check up, or if you cant wait, call his dr. office and ask if you can speak with his nurse for suggestions to get you by until the appointment.

Babies also tend to spike fevers during teething, so if you have baby tylenol on hand you might watch him for fever. If you have never given your baby tylenol - wait until after your appoint to find out what your dr. recommends as far as doseage.
Reply:it sounds exactly like teething. my daughter was exactly the same, and she always got 2 in at a time. the orajel is ok, but its extremely temporary. our doctor said tylenol was ok(after 6 months ibuphrophen is ok) and it helped her alot, i only gave t to her when i knew she was in alot of pain and discomfort. also tub toys that are soft plastic but not easily broken by chewing gaveher more comfort tan a teething ring.

I would also freeze her pacifyer for comfort.

it thaws quick, but it was a huge help to her

good luck!
Reply:Sounds like teething. Sometimes those teeth take a while to come in though. In addition to teething rings and cold wet washcloths, you could try Hyland's teething tablets which are homeopathic. Check with your doctor before giving tylenol to make sure you have the proper dosage. I'd stay away from the orajel unless your pediatrician ok's it since they can swallow it and numb their throats.
Reply:It sounds to me like he is my baby was the same my advise is you can get bibs that are back with plastic that will stop it leaking on to his suits and try some calpol or some bongella they help a lot you can try baby yogurts keep them in the fridge and offer him some it helps the gums because its cold it can help to ease the pain for him

Hives from teething?

My daughter has had hives twice in the last 6 weeks. I am sure they are hives, and they are all over her body. Nothing is different (food, laundry detergent, etc). I discovered she was teething molars both times she broke out. Has anyone else ever had a child break out in hives from teething?

Hives from teething?
Yes! My 1st Son ! Broke out 3 Times in an 10 week Period! From Teething! So Babies Just Get Rashes! Others Get Hives! BUT! I would talk to Her doctor ( if u haven't already about it! ) Could be something your not thinking of! Is she Breast feeding? if you are it could be something your eating ( some moms breastfeed for a while hahah ) Not sure how old she is Either so....! But yeah talk to her Doc. And for my son it was Normal! There Immune System goes down when they are teething , that's why most babies Get Rashes and Hives , or even get a Cold! And Runny Nose! Hope this Helps!
Reply:no but it could be the teething ring or something on her hands,

I wouldn't hink the hives are from the teething, but more so an extrenal allergen,

possibly a cookie or a spice,

My children have allergies to foods , but not severe

if my oldest has too much red dye he breaks out

My oldest and youngest, are mildly lactose intolerant

too much makes them sick

My middle child can't eat eggs i didn't realize this at first because he seemed fine

then in the evening he would puke

so i stopped eggs and he is fine, but he is fine with egg products like cookies and cakes,

So pay close attention to her see if its a food your giving her, because at first it could seem like she is fine but then, later or the next day she can get sick

Infants and teething?

okay I have twins that are 3 months and 23 days old they have been teething for 23 days now and I think I am loosing my mond at times (not really) is there anything out there beside tylenol or teething rings you have use and it actually help???? any suggestions would be great

Infants and teething?
try hyland's teething tablets. Also if they take pacifier's, there is one made to comfort teething babies it's called Raz. It has a bumpy texture and you can chill it. These two items have saved my life!
Reply:oraljel...you can use the adult kind its just a little more strong, I've found this to work.....Tough though I know what your going through...My 16 month old is getting his molers..Ear infections can happen when they are teething also, so I would contact you physician to make sure they haven't developed this.
Reply:There is this thing at wal-mart called teething tablets, you find them in the baby section. There are no drugs in them ,it is all natural. I swear by those things. If it wasn't for those my mind would have ended up in the lost and found. Good Luck!
Reply:There are teething tablets. and teething gels you can use to numb the gums, try using your clean fingernail to lance the swollen blister around a tooth, then put teething gel on it right away, and keep putting it on until the tooth falls down enough to stay. also cold damp wash cloths work really well too.
Reply:Try Hyland's teething tablets (every grocery store I've ever been to has them). Also, oragel seriously saved my life several times!
Reply:baby anbesol is the best.it numbs their mouths ,for a while.you can also give them a cold wet face cloth to chew on.it works real well too.
Reply:my little one chewed on twizzlers. until she cut her teeth thru. she just gummed away. she couldn't bite any off and they don't break off and she loved the taste. the texture felt good on her gums too, i think. also, i got these mesh bags from wal-mart with a loop handle and put ice in it. they are made just for babies, and after the ice i put fresh fruit in it. she's 2 and she still uses those mesh bag things! she likes to eat ice so she eats it from there so she won't hurt her teeth biting ice cubes. but the twizzler thing WORKED AWESOMELY!!!

i just remembered. munchkin makes the mesh bags.
Reply:i give my son an unopened can of Pepsi he love it, and makes him feel so much better and he has 4 coming in at once, ouch! be sue to wash the can before you give it to them though, don't use alcohol back in the day they did but they stopped because babies can die from alcohol posing even from just a few drops, i figured some one would probably tell you that. oh also i let him chew on a clean bottle with out a nipple on it he likes the part that you screw on the nipple it helps break the teeth out good luck. wow twins i bet you do feel like your going out of your mind, i couldn't even imagine i have 1 and its hard enough.
Reply:Bonjela. That's what its called in Australia. This was my life-saver. My daughter got her first teeth at 5 months and was teething from about 3 months. You arent supposed to use bonjela until bubs is 4 months old so it was a great relief to her and me when she was finally old enough for it!
Reply:I would SWEAR by homeopathic teething drops!!! They are totally harmless even if baby drank the whole bottle, but they work like magic. I always used to let my babies just suck on the little eye-dropper while I was changing their diapers. Once I discovered them I never had a minute of teething problems. You can get them at health food stores that carry homeopathic remedies, or online at places like vitaminshoppe.com.
Reply:try giving them wet washclothes to chew on, maybe put ice chips inside it and wad it up.
Reply:Those Gerber teething cookies that melt or whatever so they don't choke- the baby loved, but was a MESS!

I would smash up some ice cubes and put them in a bowl for her to play with

Whenever I had the time I would rub my fingers along her gums, she loved it... (clean hands of course)
Reply:i have a 8 month old neice that is here all the time and she has 2 teeth, one appeared today. baby orajel works sometimes. my neice doesnt like teethers when they are cold. we give her a wet wash cloth and she will naw on it for a while, she doesnt fuss as much about her teething. it works for her. try it and see if your babies will like chewing on a wet wash cloth. hope i helped

Help with teething?

What are some tips to help my two month old daughter get through teething? she won't take to a teething ring or a cold wash cloth. Any suggestions would help.

Help with teething?
There are baby teething tablets that are all natural and disolve quickly in the mouth. My daughter didn't like oragel...she would cry everytime I put it in her mouth (have you tasted it? It's NASTY!) I would stay away from using food for teething, because I didn't think celery would break off, but my daughter choked on it, so avoid that if possible. Hope that helps!
Reply:Wow. Teething already at 2 months? Try baby ora-gel or give her a bottle of chilled formula. It'll soothe her gums and comfort her.
Reply:Infants tylenol and baby oragel.
Reply:Try stripping a cold raw carrott, not only is that a great teething soother it also has flavour and introduces your child to veg. Also if your child has a good grip, don't worry about the carrot, they donot crumble so your child will NOT choke
Reply:medicate with baby tylenol. It worked for us, of course he was not two months old.

Also don't forget to start brushing or wiping those teeth as they can still get plaque and decay.

Good luck to you.
Reply:a whole peeled raw carrott done the trick for my 2 as long as you dont leave little one unattended.
Reply:Leather

like a watch or a coaster
Reply:Benadryl is the most hidden trick. Just get some baby Benadryl and rub it on her gums where that hurt. It numbs them. They also have teething tablets that my friends rave about. You can by them where all the baby medicine are located in stores. Hope this helps. Frozen waffles sometimes help.

7 month teething?

Hi

I posted a question about my daughter teething and i just had another couple of questions:

What is Tylenol ( im from UK)

Also, my daughter was up nearly every hour at night!

I realise teething can bring on things such as earache so i gave her some baby Nurofen (i think this may be the British version of Tylenol) and she slept through the night peacefully.

Someone told me i shouldnt give her it unless she has a temp. Her temp was fine but something was hurting her and the medicine certainly seemed to help her.

Should i continue to give her Baby Nurofen at night (i dont give her it during the day as it doesnt seem to be hurting as much and i take her mind off it by playing with her, taking her out a walk etc)

I ask because she was very grumpy during the day as she has always been a baby who loves her sleep at night!

Thanks

7 month teething?
I'm from uk and i used to give my daughter calpol at night to help her sleep with her teeth. seemed to work fine. babies can get a temp from teething but not always and calpol is designed for teething not just temps, same as baby nurofen. My daughter is now 2 and still teething! I give her calpol night now occasionally as it has a mild sedative in and helps her sleep when her teeth hurt. its suitable from 3 months and even says on box - to help relieve teething pain and aid a restful nights sleep.
Reply:Try going to your local pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist... they will be able to help you with products and dosage.
Reply:well i would give her a pain reliever and fever reducer and try some teeth numbing stuff or you can take a washrag and get it wet and stick it in the freezer for a few hours and let her gnawl on it and that will help with pain, the medicine wont hurt her as long as you follow dosing instructions!
Reply:i don't know if it is the equivilant of Tylenol, but Tylenol is a psin relieve/fever reducer that contains Acetametaphin (spelling is incorrect, but close) it is the only thing safeto use in the states for infants/small children. as long as the medicine advises that it is safe to give it to her on a hightly basis, i think it is ok to keep giving it to her until your doctor's appointment. plus, teething can cause a low-grade fever, sometimes.
