Teething question, Lhasa Apso?

My Lhasa apso puppy is turning 6 months old on July 15 and she is still teething. Several weeks ago a dog trainer said that teething is pretty fast, I beg to differ. Thankfully she seems to be dealing well with her teething, I introduced chew toys and teething treats early on and she never chews on anything in the house. I am just wondering when will the teething process be finished?

Teething question, Lhasa Apso?
Looks like it varies and can last a year?

From the below source:

"Keep in mind the puppy teething stage can be a long time period beginning when he is five months old and lasting over a year or longer. "
Reply:Well, my pug has been teething since he was about 4 months, he stopped around 7 months, but you know, it depends really on the the dog you have. Do not get confused, not the BREED of dog, the exact dog you have right now. So my pug stopped around 7 months ( he is now 15 months). Bottom line is, as long as you're giving your puppy enough chew toys, treats, and lots of love, he/her should stop pretty soon! I wish you and your puppy the best of luck!

Teething...?

my 3 month old is already getting teeth. isnt that way too soon??

what can i do to releive the pain she is having??

Teething...?
My daughter started the teething process around that time and at 4.5 months she got her first 2 teeth! She is now 7 months and has 7 teeth. I found the Hylands Teething tablets worked good and baby oragel. Because she was so young she was unable to grab and hold cold teethers in her mouth. So I did my best to hold them there for her or rub her gums with a cold wash cloth.
Reply:dip your finger in a some rum, or jack and rub in on his gums. good luck
Reply:well I would try to give her the baby tylenol...but only give her the lowest amount
Reply:LOL no alcohol! that'd get you in trouble if someone reported you to CPS! There's a couple of things...First off a damp washcloth that has been thrown in the freezer for a few minutes works wonders...They love to chew on the texture of it and the cold will help numb the gums.

Tylonal and motrin help...be sure not to give them both at the same time...alternate them. Baby orajel..just enough to cover the spot the tooth is coming in, otherwise it interferes with nursing.

There are several different teether options on the market. Some are liquid/gel filled and designed to be frozen/refrigerated so the cold soothes them. Others have different bumps and knobs on them for baby to chew on to help the tooth break through.

I have found that if the toothe is almost through that it saves alot of drama and misery to just numb up the gums with the orajel and use a clean washcloth to firmly rub over the tooth and break it through that last bit of skin. It sounds bad, but honestly it's better to end the misery since once the tooth has broken through the skin baby feels better.
Reply:Orajel and tylenol will help also a cold wash rag.
Reply:No it's not soon... My best friend child already was growing one by the time she reached I think 9 months or something like that... Try Humphrey's Teething Pellets No. 3. you can get them at Walgreen's and other places... Hope this helps! :)
Reply:Nope, I got my first tooth at 3 months. Every baby is different.

I found the only thing that worked for my first baby was Infant's Tylenol. You can also try a cool teething ring.

Teething..?

okay so my sons been real cranky for about a week and just the past 3 days hes been crying alit and holding his mouth so i decided to check and the bottom of his gums in the front is a little bit white...how long after does the teeth start to come out??

Teething..?
Can you see a white line on his gums? If so, that's the tooth, and it should break through the gums within 2-3 days. If there is no line (tooth) showing, there's not really any way to tell how long it could take.
Reply:My daughter started teething at 3 months and didn't get her first tooth until 9 months..

So it could be awhile.

Teething...?

A friend of mine's baby cut her first tooth last week. She cut a jaw tooth first. The book What to Expect the First Year about babies says that the first 2 teeth are normally the bottom front ones and then the top 4. I know I've read somewhere that cutting a jaw tooth first is abnormal. Is it? What could be wrong or the cause of that?

Teething...?
I wouldn't rely on books every child is different. Best thing to do is too talk to you dentist

Teething ??????????????

when do on average children get all there teeth? My daughter will be two the end of next month and just has her last four molers to come.

Teething ??????????????
There are 10 teeth in the primary dentition (baby teeth). The last set of molars, also known as the 2nd year molars, come in around their 2nd birthday. Around age 6 they will get their first adult molars. The same first molars in your mouth right now... you got around age 6.

Teething??

Once the teeth break through, are they still in pain until the teeth are finished coming through?? Or does the pain stop when the teeth pop out?? I just dont know if my son is getting more, or if he is still sore from the ones hes got now. After the teeth poke through, should I still give him cold things??

Teething??
YES...THE WORST IS THE BREAKING THROUGH..IT IS JUST SORE TILL IT COMES THROUGH...JUST REMEMBER THAT HE WILL CONSTANTLY HAVE TEETH COMING THROUGH SO THERE WILL BE LOTS OF THE BREAKING THROUGH PART. SO YES KEEP GIVING HIM THE COOL TEETHERS....GOOD LUCK
Reply:yes, they are. just like when you cut yourself, the wound will be sore for a few days, right?
Reply:Its hard to say if their teeth still hurt after poking through, but most likely It probably doesnt...And YES let him chew away on cold teethers! And cold wet wash cloths I think are best!!
Reply:He'll stop hurting when he's done growing all of his teeth. If you've gotten your wisdom teeth you know how much it hurts.
Reply:I've noticed with my children that they seem to be bothered a little bit, but not much once the tooth has popped through. So if that didn't help him, then I would think he has more on the way. My son always got his teeth 2 or 3 at a time - which in the long run worked out better because we had less teething times than what my daughter is now having. If he's still fussy, I'd keep giving him the cold things! My daughter likes them even when she's not teething so it couldn't hurt him. Good luck!
Reply:My son is 6 months [in 1 week] and he only seemed to be in pain in the beginning. The 2 bottom ones are both half way in and he hasn't seemed to be in any pain since they broke skin.
Reply:Oh yes they hurt for a little while afterwards, like a few days to a week or so, needs time to heal. I know this because while my son was getting his first tooth I was getting my first wisdom tooth. I totally sympathized with him there.

Usually baby teeth come in pairs and that may be another problem. My son is now 7 months old and has 6 teeth. 2 at 5 months, 2 at 6 months, and two at 7 months. But they can teeth for a month or two before they decide to come out. That is what I was told, they can start working on coming and then recede. So the teething rings and what not are always good. Hyland teething tablets, night time orajel, etc. And if they start teething at around 4 months they may not want the refrigerated teething rings, my son didn't, too much of a shock. Preferred warm things in his mouth. lol

Since he has multiple teeth I'm assuming he's probably around my son's age. And babies are pure action, so if the cold rings make him feel uncomfortable he'll tell you by his actions. From your question it is implied that he doesn't feel pain or discomfort at all from the cold rings. Sounds like you're doing just fine.

Good luck with your baby!
Reply:it hurts only when the tooth breaks through that is at the beginning. give your child a carrot to chew on.

Teething???

My son jsut turned 4 months last this week. He has been slobbing a lot latley and yesturday I noticed his teeth had cut through. He seems to be really fussy also. Can anyone recommend anything other than the usual meds.

Teething???
Frozen or cold teething rings and orajel work well, but I wouldn't use frozen or cold wash clothes. It doesn't seem very sanitary.

Try cold celery...sometimes carrots work too, but you have to be careful that he doesn't bite off little bits that can be swallowed or choked on.

You can let him chew on your finger, also.
Reply:u can buy certain products made for your baby to teeth on to help ease the pain. careful i wouldnt use meds everyday...just wen you think he desperatly needs it becuz its not good for his immune system. there is also a special baby "toothpaste" you can buy to rub on his teeth. hope it helps =)
Reply:get him teething rings and put them in the freezer, so it will be harder to bite.
Reply:try a frozen wet washcloth. get it wet and then freeze it. let him chew on that. It won't fall apart and it will help massage his gums and ease the pain.
Reply:a cool washcloth
Reply:they like things to chew on as it helps them not hurt so badly. i used freezable little toys and they just chew and chew. you can also freeze a wet washcloth. they love that as well. obviously tylenol or ibuprofin also help.
Reply:You can try those oragel products, cold teething rings and oddly, my baby likes ice cold towels to chew on. I know it's strange but he would be quiet for hours chewing on the towel. I guess rubbing his gums on it helped ease it. Too bad we cant askem' huh.
Reply:My SIL who by the way has 5 kids all under 6 years of age swears by a product called teething tablets. I also have a 4 mo. old who is starting to teeth and plan on trying them out.

You can get them at Walgreen's for sure and pretty sure Walmart carries them too.

Good luck.
Reply:Humphreys is really great. They are tiny white balls sold in a tiny bottle. You can go to a drug store such as rite aid. They have different ones so just read the labels for the ones that say "teething". You can also put a teething ring in the fridge for the baby to use. Or a hand towel dipped in water then placed in the freezer. This will soothe the baby's gums.
Reply:There is a homeopathic remedy made by a company called Highlands. You can get it at most drug stores. They are tiny little tablets that will desolve in your baby's mouth. Also, my 3 children used those little water rings, but you shouldn't freeze them like many say, just refridgerate them, then the baby can chew on them, but it's still cooling to their sore little gums. Also, those dive sticks you throw in the pool, my last baby loved them as a teether more than anything else. And if nothing else works, give the little guy some relief with baby Orajel rubbed on his gums. It numbs them and he'll make a weird little lipsmack with his lips, but it willl help.
Reply:A cold wash rag or they even make this really neat things that you can put frozen fruit into and it has a mesh like cover that goes over the fruit so the baby can gum on the frozen fruit and not break off a big chunk its all contained in the mess, I got one at Wal-mart a few years back when my daughter was teething. DO NOT get the teething tablets they contain belladonna which is a herbal sedative, not good for baby !!
Reply:They make baby orajel and teething tablets. You might try giving him a cold teething ring or a cold wash cloth to chew on.
