Teething....?

my baby is 5weeks old on monday and is teething and recently has came out with a few small spots n i was wondering if it is common 2 get a rash when they are teething

Teething....?
Where are the spots? Has she had fever? Whats the rash look like?

Its not unheard of for a newborn to teeth, but its not super common either. Maybe theres something different going on...

At her age it might be infant acne, but without more information its hard to tell.
Reply:I wouldnt bet on it. If I were you I would have the rash treated.
Reply:It is very common to get a rash around the mouth and chin, think about all that spit!.

It could be baby acne, very common also. Check with your baby's doctor to make sure.
Reply:5 weeks seems a little early to be teething...they usually don't until at least 4 months.
Reply:The rash is normal...it's from the excessive drooling. I used a touch of Balmex on the area to help protect the skin.
Reply:The rash is probably just from drooling. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I doubt she is teething.

At 10 weeks my son started drooling and chewing on everything, I was so sure he was teething. He is now 7 months and just got his first 2 teeth about a month ago. I think teething symptoms are overrated. My son's drooling actually improved a few weeks before he got his firfst tooth.

I would just make sure you keep her face dry and maybe but some Aquaphor on the area, it will protect it from moisture while treating the rash.
Reply:if it is what i am thinking of, its because of all that drool.

it can cause a rash around the mouth and chin and cheeks :)
Reply:your baby is 5 weeks old, that is uncommon for a baby so young to be teething, but the spots on its cheek/chin area is probably excessive dry skin from milk or slobbers (normal) it will b just fine. congradulations on your new born
Reply:It is common, it is from the major amounts of saliva they are producing when teething.
Reply:oh it is really normal........my son is 14 months and his seventh tooth just came in and he had a rash from head to toe...took him to the doctor and she said it was from teething....just give him cool baths and Tylenol....i did and his rash is almost gone....just try to keep baby comfy...and minimum pain (orajel..tylenol...teething toys)////by the way i found that the nigh time orajel was the best.....it has more medicine...but i used it during the day to.....good luck
