Teething???

My baby is about 8 weeks old and now she starting to cry and suck on her hands whenever she is not sleeping. She also is sucking on her hands even though she has already had her bottle. Just curious, should i call the doctor or is this a sign of teething? It seems to be worse during the day right up until bed time. I have given her the infant tylenol to help subdue the pain, but not sure if its really teething! Thanks so much!!

Teething???
If the gums are overly red, try some baby Ambesol or Oragel. I have seen babies born with teeth, so they can come in at any time. Best of luck to you and your little one!
Reply:At 8 weeks ist's unlikely that she's teething.

She must be uncomfortable due to some other reason, please check. If you can't find it, and she still cries a lot, consult your Pedi.
Reply:I would STOP the tylenol! I highly doubt she is teething. Most babies don't start till AT LEAST 5-6 months. I am not an advocate of medicating unless necessary. My guess is maybe she is still hungry or that is just something that is soothing for her as opposed to a pacifier. HTH
Reply:Try gently rubbing your fingers on her gums. Those little teeth sound like they want to pop thru. Also, they have baby Ora-gel. I did both on my kids and it helped. Good luck!
Reply:She probably wants to suck more. Try giving her a pacifier. Stop with the Tylenol. I'd only give that stuff to my baby if she had a high fever. All that crap ruins your liver. My grand daughter does the same thing . When we pop the pacifier in her mouth she's fine.
Reply:That could be a sign for teething my son started teething at 2 months. if shes drooling a lot is also a sign. but if you want to just make sure call your pediatrician. Good Luck!
Reply:I doubt that she is teething at this young age. She may possibly have an ear infection, or perhaps she might benefit from a pacifier. If she starts to cry like she's in pain, take her to the doctor. Earaches are common in babies, as they drink while laying back. They are also extremely painful. She's very young. If in doubt, take her to the doctor.
Reply:Call the doctor just to make sure. I don't know too many babies that started teething that early. My little sister starting teething at about 4 1/2 or 5 months. Maybe she is just an early bird which isn't too much to be concerned about.

Good Luck!
Reply:It does sound like the starting of teething alright. You can buy those soft teething rings and put them in the fridge then give to your baby to chomp down on. It will help sooth the pain. They also have homeopathic pellets that disolve in the baby's mouth that are a natural pain reliever if you don't want to give her Tylenol so often. Good luck!!! :)
Reply:We used to have access to a drug called paregoric. That was nice, but they took it off the market and changed it to prescription because it was so effective.

Feel in your baby's mouth and see if you feel any teeth trying to break through. Good possibility she is teething. Get one of those teething rings you can put in the freezer, and let her chew on one of those. Give her other soothing things to chew on. If she has a fever, call the doctor, but should be OK if it is just the other symptoms you mentioned.

Maybe she's bored. Get a mobile or put her in a swing so she can watch you go about your work. Does she act this way if you are holding her? If not, get one of those backpacks for babies that you put in the front of you and let her ride around with you all day.
Reply:It is probably not teething and not pain. It is normal for infants to suck on their hands. Let her or try a pacifier if it bothers you that much. Stop giving her tylenol for no reason. Sucking can be a sign of hunger. She may be going through a growth spurt and needing to be fed more often.
Reply:buy a teatthing toy so she can chew on
Reply:it sounds like teething try teething tablets there great
