My son is 18mo. and has just cut 3 out of 4 mollars. The forth is trying to push through, but seems to be stuck. His gums are extreamly puffy (BLISTER LIKE) around this tooth and he is so cranky (not eating or sleeping). I have an appt. at the dentist scheduled for Friday...I was just wondering if anyone has had problems with their babies cutting teeth and what the dentist may do?. (NO this is not normal teething...something is wrong! So please only serious answers!) Thanks! : (
Teething...?
The dentist may cut the gum so the tooth can come through. For now use anbesol on it and give him lots of popsicles and cool treats.
Reply:Try going for an x-ray.
Reply:Until you make it to the dentist, here's a couple of things you can do. Give him motrin around the clock; this will help with pain AND swelling! Don't give it as needed, give it every 6 to 8 hours regardless to keep the swelling down. Also, take a teething ring and put in the freezer, let him bite down on a COLD SQUISHY teething ring; this will also help with pain and help the tooth come through. Hope this helps!
