Baby Teething at 3 Months?

So, my baby boy starting having a slightly higher temp over the last couple of days (ranging from high 99.8 to a mid-range / median average of about 99.0 and dipping to 98.7 when less active / sleeping). This is his third day with an elevated temp, but nothing breaking into the 100 territory.

We noticed that he is starting to drool a lot more and is trying to "eat his fingers" constantly. It got us thinking that he may be teething already?

My questions are:

1) Is it normal for a baby to teeth this early?

2) Is the higher temp normal due to teething normal as well?

3) Is there anything else to consider?

Many thanks.

Baby Teething at 3 Months?
Normal or not my baby girl had her two bottom teeth cut through at 3mths and had a really rough time with it as she suffered from reflux as well! Her temp was slightly higher but I'd definitely keep an eye on that. I was advised that I could give her Panadol every 4 hours as long as I did not exceed the dose. I wasn't too keen on giving her medication, but it really made her life less miserable. Then at 6mths we had a few miserable weeks when all 4 top front teeth came through at the same time!! The other 2 bottom ones came through last month and I think she's cutting a molar at the moment - she's 9 1/2 mths!

It's really hard when they teeth so early as they haven't really learnt to chew on anything yet...try getting him to suck on ice cubes through a muslin cloth as that helped me a little. If you are worried though it's best to get your doc to check him out incase there's something else bothering him.

Good luck :-)
Reply:Normal is at about 4 months so he's a little early, but its very possible.

If he is teething, probably.

When in doubt take him to the doctor.
Reply:My first sone started teething at 3 months and had his ist tooth at 4 months!! The doc said it's rare but ok. I'm sure thats whats happening. The drool is a sure sign. Although babies can drool and have fevers for months before getting tooth, i would say that he's fine. Any temp over 100 for a baby that little isn't good. So if it gets that high or if you want to make sure thats whats wrong just make a quick appt at the doctor and they will assure of the problem. Good Luck!!
Reply:1. Yes, as early as four weeks, kids can have teeth.

2. Yes it normal to have a high temperature for the baby is adjusting to something new on his body. Natural reaction.

3.Make sure dont give sweets at early age and make sure you will give him a suitable teether for him.

Just giving an advice as well for a mom like me..(",)
Reply:Both of my girls had 2 teeth at three months.
Reply:It is normal for kids to teeth early. However, I'd check with his pediatrician if the fever continues.
Reply:You could have an early teether there. If you are concerned I would take him to a pediatrician to be on the safe side. It could be a sign of anything, sore throat, even an ear infection.
