Teething Medications??

So, my daughter is almost 4.5 months old now and she is starting to cut her first tooth. We noticed it this weekend when she was whining (not actually crying) constantly. She seems to do alright as long as something is in her mouth, plastic ring, pacifier, her fingers, a stuffed animal, etc., but she doesn't have the best coordination to hold something in her mouth constantly. She woke up SIX times last night and as soon as I'd give her the pacifier back she'd go right back to sleep (she usually does not require the pacifier to sleep at night), so I'm just curious, from personal experience, what medications do you other mothers/babysitters/etc. use for your children? I've read that too much oragel can make their gums tough and make teething more difficult and also if you use too much it can numb the back of their throats and make them choke. I also do not want to give her tylenol constantly, I try to only use that when she really needs it...

Teething Medications??
We use a dose of tylenol and orajel nighttime before bed. I have never heard of the Orajel making the gums tough. During the day I would give our son frozen waffles, bagels, frozen yogurt in the tube. Also if you soak a washcloth in water and freeze it, it makes a great teether. I also felt like I was giving too much tylenol but for nighttime it was best so all of us could get some sleep. I do agree with the other person on here that said if everyone was rested it was easier to deal with. Good luck!
Reply:Just give her one dose of baby tylenol before bed if she's teething, and through the day one application of oralgel if it's bad with lost of cold teething rings.
Reply:Hylands Teething tablets, and tylenol when she seems really miserable and before she goes to bed at night to help her feel more comfortable so that you all can sleep. Teething is much better to deal with when you and baby aren't so overtired.

When my daughter got older and started get her I-teeth she like to eat fozen asparagus of all things. She was a late teether though so she was 18 months before she got her I-teeth.

I have also heard of frozen bagel and frozen waffles making excellent teethers.
Reply:I used a powder called ashton and parsons it's a natural herb powder it does no harm and can use it as often as your child needs it.
Reply:If someone used enough orajel to numb a babys throat they aren't too bright. Use a pea sized ammount on her gums.
