Does teething cause lack of appetite?

I believe my son is teething. He is 5 1/2 mos, constantly chewing, the drool has become a lot worse. Anyway, he breastfed this morning, but just a little, then had two 7 oz bottles during the day and breastfed before bed, maybe only like 10 min. His intake seems to have drastically reduced this past few days, and I was wondering if it could be the teething.

Does teething cause lack of appetite?
not so much the lack of appetite but he may not eat as much because right now he is associating pain with eating. once the teething lessens he will be willing to eat again. it just takes time. It is part of growing so I wouldn't be too alarmed, unless u dont feel he is getting enough liquids.
Reply:Possibly...although I may lean more towards the pain in his mouth causing him to reduce feedings...not so much the lack of appetite.

You can try giving him a cold teething ring to chew right before a feed.

As long as he's eating enough to keep gaining and growing, there's no worries :)

Otherwise, my answer to your first question, Yes, it definately sounds like Teething.
Reply:That could be teething with the drool and not wanting to eat... Another sign is running a slight fever.
Reply:Teething can cause lack of appetite because your gums are swollen and painful when your baby suck your breast. Give him a cold teether to suck on to numb the gums.
