When will the teething pain stop???

my 4 month old has started teething. you can kinda see the outline of the teeth underneath the gums. i wanna know how long i should expect her to go threw all that pain. any tips on dealing with teething would be wonderful, thx

When will the teething pain stop???
My daughter started teething at 3 months and at 7 still has no teeth. It can take awhile, even when you can feel the teeth, sometimes they will go back in. My daughter's teeth have almost come in 3-4 times already. I've noticed it tends to be bad for a few days, then they will have a stretch of time where it doesn't seem so painful that they can't ignore it. Here are some suggestions to help

Infant tylenol or motrin(talk to doc 1st)

Hylands homeopathic teething tablets, available at Wal-mart

Refrigerated rubber teething rings

Freeze a clean damp washcloth and let her chew it

let her gnaw on a cold carrot(once she has teeth it can break and become a choking hazard

Baby orajel

Rub pure vanilla extract on their gums, it has a minimal amount of alcohol that will help sooth them

Simply rub gums firmly, using your finger or an infant toothbrush(one of those rubber caps for your index finger with bristles)

Try a teething blanket, it has rubberized corners, my daughter loves hers

Buy a fresh food feeder(wal-mart) and put ice cubes in it

I also let my daughter chew on an unopened freezer pop and will let her drink a little of it sometimes to, lol

Keep in mind that the teething pain is worst until the 1st tooth comes in, then baby learns to adjust and it won't bug her as much.

Good luck!
Reply:be prepared for a bit of a long deal because as soon as one comes through and feels better it seems as if there's always another right behind to start again. i found a secret weapon though it is in a little bottle that looks like lip gloss , clear with a black lid, and the stuff inside is like hot pink ,and i can only find it at one store where i live which is CVS pharmacy , it cost a little more than oragel or stuff like that but it is WORTH IT! also if you get teething rings like the kind with water in them DON"T freeze them just put them in fridge, it bruises the babies gums because they get to hard. hope this helps and good luck!!!!!
Reply:It usually takes a month or two for a tooth to completely come through. Try getting her one of those teething rings that can be frozen and freeze it enough that it's slushy inside but not completely frozen. It will give her something to chew on and the coldness will help to numb her gums so they won't hurt her as much. You can also find baby Orajel if she seems to be hurting a lot.
Reply:Expect teething pain to continue as long as teeth are coming in (through the second year molars). I am a big proponate of baby Tylenol, and giving the child something rubbery to chew on. If you have ever had tooth pain, then you can understand the frustrating pain that is associated with it. Thank goodness for baby Tylenol!!
Reply:I don't mean to scare you but my third baby is 21 months and still teething, he has been unfortunate unlike his sisters he has not had a break as much in-between.

We got him a lot of chew toys, the gel ones that you could freeze seem to work best, some medication once in a while like infant Tylenol helps too. If its at night we used the numbs it stuff as they call it, i think its lidocane but not sure.

Anyway it seems the pain varies and when they drool tends to be the times they are experiencing or about to experience the painful stages.

be assured it will all be alright.
Reply:When the tooth breaks through, the pain will stop. Then there will be pain again as the next tooth prepares to emerge. This will occur off and on until all the teeth are in....
Reply:my neice is 9 mon. old. she is teething and has been for the past few months. but all babies are different. when she is teething we just put put orijel on her binki and it gets in her mouth... that helps a lot... and then we put to wash rags in the freezer (we wet them first) and when they are frozen we take one out and give them to her so that she can chew on it... when it isn't frozen anymore we put it back in the freezer and give her the other one..... try it... it works for my neice... maybe it will work for ur 4 moth old. good luck!
