same as people. they chew things to relieve pressure.

when they are chewing, theyre losing their teeth
Reply:hehe, she will be biting on your hand and the ends of the couch soon, all kittens do this, its part of exploring and growing up, she will grow outta it, but it just takes time, try buying some rubber small doggie toys, just so she wont ruin the coffee table like mine did:) good luck!
Reply:Kittens usually begin teething at around 4 months old and should have all their adult teeth by the time they are around 6 months old.

Teething is painful because the new teeth have to push through their gums. As a result, kittens often begin chewing on hard or rubbery things as a way of coping with the pain. There are soft rubber toys that you can buy for teething kittens to chew. Alternatively, take a clean face cloth, knot it, dampen it with water and then put it in the freezer to chill. Chewing on something cool like the cloth, can also help relieve the pain of inflamed gums. (Similar to those gel teething rings that you put in the freezer for babies .)
Reply:Just like humans, cats have 2 sets of teeth. The first set is called the milk teeth or deciduous teeth and they start to come in when the kitten is about 4 weeks old. They continue to come in until all 26 milk teeth have appeared, usually by 6 weeks. These teeth are non-permanent and they begin to fall out from 11 weeks until 30 weeks.

This is a time which is similar to teething in human babies, so the kitten may have sore gums, may do a bit of complaining and may eat less due to pain. During the time when the milk teeth are falling out, new permanent teeth are coming in until all 30 of them have developed and have replaced the milk teeth usually by 8-9 months.
