Cats teething (side effects)?

I have a kitten who has a bad cold (sneezy, runny nose, diarriah) and we think it may have to do with his teething. He is about 6 months. He has some baby teeth in tact. He has had the cold for a couple days, he was fine the week before. Do you think his cold is a result of his teething?

Cats teething (side effects)?
Hi there...kittens generally begin losing their baby teeth between 5/6 months. However, there's no direct relationship with the other symptoms you are witnessing. More commonly young cats can suffer from upper respiratory infection (URI) especially unvaccinated because kittens are predisposed due to their immature immune systems. Antibiotics are necessary to treat the secondary infections related to Feline URI.

Reply:sorry but kids do not get colds when they teeth they get cranky sore gums etc cats can get colds same as humans when teething they chew on things to relieve the pain
Reply:I have never heard of problems like this associated with a cat teething. Has he had all his shots? I think some of the symptoms you mentioned may be indicative of feline distemper.

I think you should take him to the vet. If it's a cold, he may need an antibiotic. Otherwise, it may become a serious upper-respiratory infection, or he may become dehydrated if the diarrhea continues.

Sounds like you shouldn't let it go. Good luck.
Reply:no, it has nothing to do with teething. Get your cat to the vet to rule out something serious. it could be Leukemia, FIV or worse FIP
