my twin girls are both teething. there 4 months old and were supposed to act like there 2months old which they def dont act like. they started sleeping alot more now that they are teething. i would think they would sleep less. sometimes they get over tired if up longer than 1 hour 30 min and just scream. why are they so tired?? before they started teething they would stay up 3 hours in a row and be fine and laughing, is this caused by teething??
Sleeping alot more do to teething??
The also go through a growth spurt at this age, so could be sleeping more due to the growth spurt - see http://www.ebabycentre.com/bdgrowthspurt... for more info
My daughter usually sleeps less when she's teething.
Reply:Are they actually teething, or just drooling alot? They could be changing their patterns, they do that about that time.
Reply:I think so. Teething is tough for babies. My son teethed so bad when he got his first tooth in at 13 months. (both bottom at the same time). He was drooling like crazy I had to put on Cortizone ointment on his chest because he was getting all rashy. I only used Oraljel once on my son and it seemed to help him. Give them teething rings that are cold from the freezer.
What can parents do to relieve their infant's teething pain? Teething rings or similar objects made from resilient and easily cleaned latex or silicone work well to satisfy this need. Teething toys and pacifiers made of latex or silicone do not contain diisononyl phthalate. Consider discarding worn teething rings even if they are phthalate free because rough edges can abrade an infant's soft gum tissue. Baby Orajel and Baby Anbesol are non-prescription, local anesthetics that help soothe gum tissue. A frozen banana also offers temporary relief from teething pain.
Reply:That is odd most baby's do not sleep as well if they are teething, do to the pain of the gum tissue opening up for the teeth. Its very sore like when you cut in a wisdom tooth . Every baby is different though.
Some baby's sleep more if they are growing more.
Reply:Along with the teething, it could also be a growth spurt. Any time my boys were approaching a milestone their sleep patterns, eating habits, etc would change. You should check out www.opmom.com. It's a great site with lots of useful parenting information.
