Hi all! My 14 wk. old is teething badly and I purchased the orajel teething swabs. I openend up the swab and was not sure how much to apply on to my babys gum. Do I use up the whole swab or just apply a little on the gum?Can anyone help me out?

please be careful tht yes indeed your child is teething. Look at the gum line, do you see buldges on the front side of the gum line. IF YES, then your child is teething.

At 3 months I thought my daughter was teethin, she was so unconsolable. I ended dosing her with Tylenol to ease the pain. WellI was medicating my daughter for no reason. She was in fact not teething, but going thru a mild colic stage.

AS well Orajel is quite bad for a child. Look into homeopathic remidies for teething. If the orajel is not aplied to the gumline or too much is used, it can potentially numb the childs mouth. Its a local anestectic, if too much is used it could not only numb the mouth but the esophigus. Not a nice combination
Reply:I believe the swabs are filled with enough for one use.
Reply:14 week old baby teething? I'm thinking, probably not the problem. If your baby is teething at 14 weeks, that particular med isn't recommended for babies under the age of 4 months. Instead, I'd recommend a dummy (pacifier) that can be used during teething. Put it in the freezer for a bit first. Or try a teething ring, cooled first, as well. If this doesn't seem to help, an appropriate dose of infant pain reliever is the way to go, but you should really have your ped see the infant. Might not be teeth that's causing the problem.
Reply:Open the pink end of the swab and hold it upright until you see the liquid is covering the tip of it. Start dabbing it over where you know the teeth are coming through, and then gently roll it over the surrounding gums. By the time you do this, the medication will be all gone. There is just enough for one dose.

I'm in the same boat. I've also found that the finger brushes work well with a pea sized amount of baby orajel on it. The baby can gum around your finger without taking it off, and you get to feel where the concentrated pain areas are.
Reply:You could try teething tablets by Hylands. Ive had such better results with that than Orajel and its natural. (Plus it doesnt taste nearly as bad as Orajel)
