my daughter is now refusing food or eating little not drinking milk just 7-9oz is this normal when teething it seams like sucking juice and milk hurts and shes very grumpy having almost tantrums any advice please!!!!
Teething again sorry!!!!?
Try giving her baby tylenol about 1/2 hour before a feeding, baby orajel about 2-3 minutes before feeding. Follow proper dosing, and call your pediatrician if you're not sure about dosage (even if they're closed on the weekend, there's usually a nurse or doctor on call). Our pediatrician said I could do the baby tylenol up to twice a day if she was really having trouble eating, even if there were no other problems.
My baby had this problem, as well. She ended up moving to larger, less frequent feedings. She also wants to eat more SOLID foods when teething. I think it's because she doesn't have to suck, and she can bite down on the rubber spoon. I don't know if your daughter has started foods yet, but you could try this.
If she won't do solids, either, try getting a dropper, like the ones you use to administer medication. Put the milk in that and you can squirt the milk into her mouth (aim for the side of a cheek). That way, she won't have to suck. It will be slower going, but she might get some satisfaction that way.
Depending on how old your baby is (I'm assuming at least 4 mos if she's teething?), you could try feeding her from a cup as well. My girl is almost 5 mos, and she can drink from a cup if I hold it for her. Use a flexible one where you can pinch it together a bit to make a "spout" - it will be a VERY messy process. :-)
Reply:get a teething ring and some baby ambesol
Reply:give her some popsicles. that will numb the pain, plus they taste good!
Reply:If she wont eat, try giving her milk in a regular cup. It will take a lot more time but it wont hurt as much as sucking.
Reply:this is very normal, and we all still worry about them when it happens. soak a baby wash cloth in cold water and stick it in the freezer for a few moments to let it get a little icy, then let her chew on it...also depending on age, get her some gerber biter biscuits to chew on, she'll be getting a little something in her tummy, and satisfying her need to chew on things..not reccommended on babies under 6 months
Reply:Tylenol- that's the only advice I have for you- that is the only thing that helps some for my son- who is 13 months now- he has always been very fussy during teething. Other things to help calm him down some are going outside, baths, reading a book to him, singing to him and holding him. Goodluck! Our son still has those moments like that.
Reply:Chamomile and Hylands teething tables are great for teething issues. Gripewater is also very good to help babies with teething pain.
