Does teething make a high fever like 101.2?

and if so should i still take him to the doctors? i have a child with no other symstoms execpt 101.2 and a stuffed up nose. Yesterday it was 100.1. Is this a cold or just teething bc he still is in the teething stage is is 17months old. i gave him tynol and today is fever was up to 101.2. So should i still take him to the doctors? or should i just keep giving him tynol. He still acts like he does not feel good. could this be the flu?

It is more about how he is acting than the temp. If he is active and alert he is fine.

If he is lethargic or mentally seems off go to the doctor.
Reply:It could be either. If the fever does not break or gets higher take him to the doctor. High fevers can cause a lot of problems. Give him children's Motrin, it works better than Tylenol. Give him a Popsicle and if none of that works within the next half hour, take him to a doctor.
Reply:sounds like the flu, call the doctor he will probally have you wait till tommorrow with giving him tylenol and liquids. Hope he feels better
Reply:I would call the doctor but it could be either a cold or teeth...
Reply:Could be from the teething or cold. But also could be an ear infection. Call the doctors the nurse can help you make the right choice.

Good luck
Reply:I just went through this this past weekend. My daughter (14 months) had a temperature of 101 and we took her to the pediatrician. It *was* just teething and eventually her fever came down. Good luck :)
Reply:It could be a little bit og both. To be on the safe side I would still take him to the doctor.
Reply:With my kids, teething always seemed to go hand in hand with ear infections. When you're in doubt about a fever, or if he 'doesn't look right', that's justification enough to take him to the doctor.
Reply:Try infants Motrin. We use Tylenol for everything but Motrin worked better for teething/fever. If it doesn't go down an hour after that call your doctor, please.
Reply:Will if he has no other symptoms then he is just teething.... just give him popsicles or let him chew on things
Reply:Teething can cause fevers, but this sounds like an infection. The stuffy nose suggests that. The fever is higher today than yesterday, so I would get him checked. Keep in mind that the fever will always increase towards night time, too, so this may get worse today.
Reply:For all of the above (cold, flu, teething) there isn't anything a doctor can do. I wouldn't push tylenol so hard. Try other ways for the fever, a luke warm bath, remove some clothes, cold drinks or popsicles. Make sure baby stays hyrdated and I would back off the formula (tends to curtural up in a fevered belly) so try clear juices, water or pedialite. If you think it's teething, get some oral gel (worked wonders on my daughter). Also, a vaporizor at night or vicks baby rub would help alot with congestion without filling the system with meds. I would think it's teething or a cold. Flu I think would have more problems (throwing up, cranky like my daughter) than the cold or teeth. If you still want to give medications for pain and discomfort, try to switch between infants motrin and infants tylenol (they act in different areas in the body, one dissolves in the liver and one in the blood, so it will give those respective areas a rest and still keep pain at bay). I would say any fever over 102 needs doc or ER attention, but try to keep it down ahead of time with the different ways okay. GOOD LUCK, I know it's tough with a sick baby, so heart breaking!
Reply:ITS POSSIBLE THAT IT COULD B THE FLU..MY 2YR. OLD JUST GOT OVER THE FLU AND HER TEMPERATURE WAS 104.4 AND I TOOK HER TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD THE FLU AND TO GIVE HER TYLENOL AND MOTRIN EVEY TWO HOURS AND TO GIVE HER THOSE PEDIALYTE POPSICLES CAUSE THEY CAN GET VERY DEHYDRATED AND THAT'S NOT WAT U WANT BUT THERE'S A WAY Y CAN FIND OUT IF U NEED TO TAKE THE BABY TO THE DOCTORS JUST CALL THE ON CALL NURSE AT THE CHILDREN HOSPITAL AND THEY CAN GIVE U MORE INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT U SHOULD AND SHOULDN'T DO....I WISH U THE BEST AND I HOPE THE LIL ONE GETS BETTER.......
Reply:it sounds like teething give him some tylenol and wait if the fever is still high in the morning take him to the doc
Reply:THAT IS ONLY 3 DEGREES WHAT ITS SUPPOSE TO BE...WITH TEETHING, IT CAN BE THAT HIGH. ANY DOCTOR WILL TELL YOU TO BRING HIM IN, JUST TO GET MONEY. JUST BUY HIM TODDLER MELTAWAY TYLENOL, IT PUT HIS FEVER DOWN AND REDUCE TOOTHACHE. GOOD LUCK.
