Teething question...?

How old did your child start showing signs of teething? How long after they showed the signs did you see the white?

Teething question...?
My daughter started teething at 10 months. You could see her gums were red and swollen. It took about 3 months to actually see the white and it seemed like overnight, it broke through. My middle son was so different. He didn't start teething until he was about 16 months old. He just wanted cool things in his mouth. He loved me to put his crackers and other snacks in the freezer. It took about 1 month to see white but another 4 months for the tooth to come all the way in. My last son started teething around his first birthday. He wanted to chew on food like pizza crust. He loved pizza and could gum-chew an entire piece of pizza from the time he was about 6 months old. His tooth came in about 1 month after he started teething. It just showed up one day! There is not an actual age that they should start teething. If you are concerned about your child, talk to your doctor or take your baby to a dentist whose specialty is dealing with children. He/She can take an exray and see if the teeth are close to coming in.
Reply:My daughter started teething at 4 months and within 2 months you could see the white in her gums but the tooth did not pop through until she was 8 1/2 months old.
Reply:My friends son was 4months and he had signs of teething.
Reply:My daughter had all the normal signs of teething, as in the drooling and all, around 3 months. However, she didn't actually get any teeth in until around 14 months! Things went well, when she got the first bottom two she woke up two nights, but would just lay with her father for a couple hours then go back to sleep. Getting her other ones in hasn't been any bother at all, you just know it cuz she has her hand and everything else shoved in her mouth! She's had the other signs, like different bowel movements, slight fever, runny nose with the other teeth, but nothing that bothered her at all.
Reply:None of my children got teeth until they were well over 8 months
Reply:my baby was 5 months old.I saw the white part coming up about 2-3 weeks later.
Reply:My son starting showing signs at 2 in a half months. At 4 months we saw a tooth.
Reply:My son is 7 months old and has his two bottom from teeth. He began showing signs of teething (ie: swollen gums, low grade fever and drooling) at around 3 months and by month 5 there they were. They came in within a day of eachother. Now, at 7 months, he continues to drool like a St. Bernard, and his top gums are super swollen, and the Dr. says they're on their way, but I cant see or feel them yet. Remember though---all babies are different and develop at different rates with milestones at different times/ages.
Reply:I've read it varies from child to child. However, my son started teething at 3.5 months of age approximately. He just turned 6 months a couple of days ago, and just cut through a week ago. It still hasn't grown all the way through, you can feel the sharp ridge.

Signs of teething:

increased saliva, drooling, anxious to chew and bite things, swollen gum-line, at least 3 months of age, it can also be accompanied with fever or diarhea.

How to soothe:

oral-gel, cold teething chew toys, rub his gum with a cool rag, give recommended dosage of Tylenol for pain relief, breast-feed for soothing. I personally feed him cool baby food (i.e: carrots, applesauce, etc.) and it calms him down, then I let him hold his rubber spoon to chew on. He loves this!

Hope this helps!
