Rash due to possible teething?

My 5 month old daughter woke up screaming last night and was fussy all day long. She has had no appetite at all and now I just noticed a rash on her head, face, back and a little on her stomach. It looks like small red dots on her body but on her head they are a little bigger, but hard to tell with the hair in the way.

Anyhow, my first only had rosy cheeks and diaper rash when he teethed, so I am wondering if any one else's baby developed a rash when teething? (I'm pretty sure she is teething, all other symptoms are there)

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

Rash due to possible teething?
yes my daughter got a terrible rash when she was teething, luckily it goes away, so just have baby orajel and tylenol on hand, if the rash is bothersome your doctor can usually prescribe an RX cream to help...my daughter had to go to a dermatoligists at 5 months for it...but once we used that it cleared it right up...also stop using scented wash and lotions...use cetaphil for now it will help and it won't agitate the skin...they make the bodywash and lotion and it is a Godsend...hope that helps
Reply:I have never heard of a baby having a rash like you describe from teething. Is there any fever? Have you heard of Roseola? It's usually a high fever (which it doesn't sound like) but then followed by a all over body rash that sounds like what you describe. I would call the doc. It could be an allergy to some food? I would say that this kind of rash would NOT be related to teething.
Reply:I've never had either of my kids get more than a diaper rash with teething. However, my son has eczema, and that's exactly what it sounds like.Where you're saying it is, is the main areas that babies get it. Plus, with my son it almost came out of nowhere - as if something unknown irritated it, and he's had it since. I would have the doctor check it to be sure, but if it is the eczema,it's fairly easy to treat - creams and such.

The only other thing is, what are you feeding her? It could be a food allergy. If you recently started giving her something new, I would eliminate it from her diet, and see if that makes the rash any better/go away. If that's the case, call your pediatrician and they can have her tested.

Either way, it can't hurt to give a call and be sure :)
