URGENT TEETHING!!My 6 month daughter has cut two teeth but is still not sleeping at night?

she is really irritable, cries a lot, tugs her ears, (doesnt have ear infection) and wakes up at night a lot. Is this still teething?

I really feel for her but dread giving her calpol too much, I hate giving her painkillers so young but she can't sleep properly and I know I have to get rid of her pain. But if this is going to go on so long, can I do anything else to help her sleep? Bonjela works only tempory she wakes up again, teething granules pacify her in the day and I try to give the paracetemol last thing at night and only 2.5 mls- but I am still worried it';s too much. Also I'm worried that she's going to develop bad sleep associations at night as I put her to the breast to comfort her, bless her. Any suggestions?

You're doing everything right. It's good you don't want to give her too much medicine, but don't let her suffer either.

It sounds like she's cutting more teeth.

Nursing her for comfort is a great idea. Nursing helps with everything. You have a great tool there, why not use it when you need it!!!

She won't have bad night associations. She'll start sleeping again when she feels better. She's still really young anyway, most babies don't sleep through then night at that age.

There's a homeopathic you can use if you don't like giving her regular pain killers.

It's called Calc phos 30CH. Dissolve one pellet in warm water, and give it to her with an eyedropper. It's a natural pain killer.

Good luck, and hang in there.

Reply:Rub her gums with Jack Daniels'

Works great.
Reply:calpol is that a Canadian drug? Infant Tylenol is a safe pain reliever. I personally wouldn't give her anything to make her sleep just work on comforting her. At night before bed give her a warm bath and a massage. Also massage her gums through out the day. My son found this comforting. Use a warm wash cloth and gently rub her gums. Also call her doctor and see what they suggest. Do whatever comforts her. hold her close, rock her, sing to her. good luck
Reply:It might not be teething. Is she hungry or need a pacifier?
