At what age roughly do babies start teething and what are the signs that they are teething?
Is it possible for a 12 week old to be teething?
What age for teething?
It really does depend on the baby. My daughter was drooling like mad at 2 months, but didn't get her first tooth until she was 7 months. My little sister got her first tooth at 3 months, so it's entirely possible your baby is teething.
General signs are drooling, tugging/rubbing the ears (the nerves in the mouth run up to the ears), fussiness, swollen gums, low-grade fever, diarrhea and decreased appetite. The excess drool is swallowed, frequently causing diarrhea and of course being a cause of decreased appetite.
Reply:My first son got his first two teeth at 4 months.
My second son is now almost 8 months and has no teeth, but he has been teething and dribbling since about 3 months old, so I would say that it is perfectly possible that your baby is teething, although it might still take ages before any teeth appear.
Reply:my 3 month old is poppin a tooth already so yeah it is possilble and its normal. My older son didnt show a sign of a tooth until he was 10 months old so i guess it really depends on the baby.
Reply:well they actually start teethin from 6 months and up but their gums may bother them and it may hurt so give the baby orajel for baby and give him somethin to bite on like a toy or somethin good luck..........
Reply:my son was 9 months before he got a tooth... i'm not sure about 12 weeks.. could be possible..
Reply:Yes, my baby sister was only 10 weeks when she started teething...but my friends brother was 10 months before he got any teeth. Perfectly normal.
Reply:Teething, an important milestone in baby's development, is the sequential appearance of baby teeth and it's incredible to think that those tiny teeth buds first began to develop when they were still in the womb.
Teething usually begins at between four and nine months and most babies will have 'cut' their first tooth by their first birthday.
However, every baby is different and the start and duration of the teething process can vary greatly between individuals - it is thought that around one in 2000 babies are actually born with a baby tooth or two already, while others don't show any until they are 12 months! If you are becoming impatient or are at all worried, it is worth bearing in mind that teething patterns do tend to be hereditary, so knowing when you and your partner began to cut your teeth may provide some clues.
There is no need to worry if your baby's teeth appear particularly early or late - the timings are not believed to be any indication whether the baby is developing well, either physically or mentally. In fact, you can see from the timetable below that even the average age ranges at which different teeth start to emerge are quite broad but this should help give you an idea of what to expect:
* 6 to 12 months - The lower incisor (the teeth at the very front of the mouth) is generally the first to emerge;
* 9 to 16 months - two more incisors break through, top and bottom;
* 12 to 18 months - the first back molars emerge;
* 18 to 24 months - the canine teeth start to appear between the molars and incisors.
Finally, the second molar teeth break through in the lower and upper back of the mouth. Most babies don't have a full set of milk teeth (ten at the top, ten at the bottom), until around the age of three. They will then usually keep these until they are approximately six years of age, when these naturally start to fall out and are replaced by bigger permanent teeth which quickly start pushing through.
good luck and all the best.
Reply:my 13 wk old baby has been teething for weeks hes just started cutting his first tooth so yes a baby can teeth from any age, some babies are born with teeth
Reply:any age
Reply:Normally anywhere from 6 months to a year. But no two babies are the same!!!
Reply:my daughter has been teething since 12 weeks unfortunately, some of the signs are they start to chew there hands and fingers and soon start to shove anything they can get there hands on into there mouths, lots and lots of dribbling, red warm cheeks, you may be able to feel a little swelling on her gum, its such a shame when they start teething early.
Reply:It is defo possible to teethe at 12 weeks but it could just be that the baby has found thier hands and is constantly chewing them. At 12 weeks my daughter constantly chewed everything. At 7 months the real teething kicked in! It was a nightmare. it really unsettled my daughter at night then after 2 weeks her two bottom teeth appeared! Then she was back to her happy self!
Saying that, my friends baby was born with a tooth! It was really unusual to see this tiny little thing with one full tooth!
By 12 weeks his other bottom one came in!
Reply:Around 6 months. Drooling and rubbing the gums are one of the signs. I dont think its possible for a 12 week old to be teething
Reply:My first daughter started teething around 8 weeks and popped her first tooth at 12 weeks then another a week later but then no more until 6-7 months. So the signs are chewing at hands and being fussy. Mine kinda refused to suck the bottle but instead wanted to chew on it. My 10 week old right now goes for my finger and when I give it to her she clamps down really hard I think we are entering the teething stage and she has been fussy. So I guess the age for teething is widely ranged from very young on up.
Good Luck
Reply:Yeah, my daughter started having sore gums and getting grizzly about at about that time, but no teeth came though until about 7 months!! But the signs can be a constant need to bite (well, gum lol) things, dribbling, nappy rash, face rash, a slight temperature and just generally feeling sorry for themselves!
Reply:my son had five teeth by the time he was three months old. by the time he was a year old he had all his teeth. when he was 4 he lost his four front teeth coz his 'big' teeth were pushing his milk teeth out. he had cut his 'sixers' at not even five. he is the youngest of three his brother and sister were more 'normal'. I dont think there is a too early, more of a problem if they havent cut them till quite late, in case they have no teeth ( my nephew had to be tested for this, he was nearly 2 by the time he had cut his first teeth)
Reply:my son got his first teeth at 7months all baby's are different.
Reply:Really depends on the baby.
