Teething? How long does it last??

My 7 month old daughter has 2 teeth and has pretty much been grumpy ever since the first one appeared, she doesn't want anything near her mouth, and its difficult to get her to eat or drink. Just wondering, do babies eventually get used to the pain of teething, does it become more bearable for them after the first few teeth come in, or does the grumpy mood last until all the teeth have come through?

Also, is there usually a break in the teething process at all?

After my daughters first tooth, her next one was up within 2 weeks, and i'm pretty sure another is about to burst through ( less than 2 weeks later) . I feel so sorry for her!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Teething? How long does it last??
Teething usually starts about 2 months before the first tooth erupts, and proceeds intermittently. All of the primary teeth are usually in by 20 to 30 months, but most children do not have major symptoms with each tooth. This chart indicates when to expect tooth eruption http://www.ada.org/public/topics/tooth_e...

check it out :)

Reply:I've found that my daughter would be really cranky and not want to eat and even cry herself to sleep... then after 3 or 4 days i would see a tooth pop in. it was like that each time, so i got the hang of it.

Shes 14 months now and she has the top 4 and bottom four in the front. Just the other day she was crying a lot so i decided to try the oragel.. I felt the biggest swollen bump ever..that never happend before.. sure enough the next few days i feel a little tooth coming.

So i think they have the most pain when they are coming up.. and once they break thru it gets better.

Another thing, you said its lasting long? well jadyn got her first 8 teeth in days of each other.. so it did last a while.

Try teething tablets from wal-mart. They dont have medicine, but they help distract them.

Good luck.
Reply:Sorry to tell you but some babies don't get used to it. Some teeth take a while to come in and some pop in before you know they were teething. try baby orajel before a feeding.
