Is this normal.. teething behavior or something else.?

The other day i felt my son's first tooth start poking it's pearly little whilte head from the bottom right. He was fussy 2 days before that.. well he's been fussy since 10 weeks =] ( now 5 months ).. So for the last week or so all together he's been very fussy, he eats well, but fusses right after .. Sometimes i think he's tired and try to lay him down and he won't have that !!! Maybe i'm mistaking his teething pain for tiredness? He just seems restless, and whining all the time.. no matter what we do. He rubs his face, so i think he's tired.. could he be rubbing it b/c it's hurting.. ?

i do offer orajel and teething tablets.. But it's only so many times a day i can give them to him.. and anyhitng else such as teething rings, washcloths, etc.. doesnt work at all!!!

So is this normal behavior? And maybe he's just got his 2nd bottom tooth cutting through?

Is this normal.. teething behavior or something else.?
Your son is in pain. He probably is tired, but the pain is keeping him from getting comfortable enough to sleep well. If you've every been in severe pain (which this is to him) and tried to sleep, you know it can be difficult. The good news is that babies typically handle subsequent teeth much better than the first. Just try to hang in there and comfort and love on your son :)

Have you tried freezing the washcloths? I heard that does wonders.
Reply:This does sound like teething (escpecially the face rubbing). You are doing everything you possible can. Just try your best to comfort him and take a break when you get frustrated.
Reply:It sounds like he could be going through teething pain, but it could also be an ear infection.Sometimes disconfort from an ear infection is referred to the face as well. I would make an appointment with your pediatrician to make sure. You don't want the infection to get too bad if that's what it is. He/she may also be able to help you with the teething issue if that's what the conclusion is.
Reply:My son went through similar issues. Is your baby breast fed or taking formula? If formula, is it milk based? Do you hear his tummy churning afterwards? Could be a combination of teeth and possibly the formula is upsetting his stomach. I finally switch my sons formula to soy based and the cry and problems stopped. Much like you, I thought it was teeth, but when none of the normal remedies helped, I became suspicious. I highly recommend you check with your pediatrian before making any abrupt changes.
