My daughter is months old she is my first :) She has been having difficulty falling asleep lately could it be the beginnings of teething? Would it only bother her when she is falling asleep? Her gums don't really show signs of teething yet. I have tried everything rocking, leaving her in her crib, feeding her, checked her temp, no gas, changed her diaper, etc. Its been going on for two weeks.
Teething baby?
how old is she? months can mean three, four, five etc.
usually teething begin for baby 4 up to 7 month,
here are several symptom of teething,
you can find out, if your baby has this symptom, maybe this is symptom of teething
symptom 1. swollen gums / tender gums;
Your baby gums maybe swelling and red or even bruised, which overlies the erupting tooth. This swelling accompanied by a bluish coloration; red color, known as and eruption of hematoma. This condition may cause sore and painful, that can make your baby refusing food, fussiness, not sleeping well or wakefulness, especially at nigh sleep. Teething pain happening during the day and night, at night when your baby has no activity, the pain might feel stronger, this condition makes your baby wakes more often it night, when the pain gets bed enough.
Sometime you will found blood in your baby’s gums. This is normal, sometimes, as a tooth is breaking through the gums, small cysts can from which, when the pressure increases, break open. Normally, once the first blood is let, the bleeding stops and soon you see a little white tooth where the cyst once was.
The pain at your baby gums can increasing biting behavior your baby will gnaw and gum down on anything that your baby can get their mouth around. The counter pressure from biting on something helps your baby relieve the pressure form under the gums.
The pain in the gums my travel to the ears and cheeks. Particularly when the back molars begin coming in. than you may see your baby rubbing their cheeks or pulling at their ears.
But if this symptom happens to you baby, please check it with your doctor, because pulling ears can related to ear infections.
symptom 2; drooling.
Infant who are teething generally have an increased flow of saliva, which can cause excessive drooling, more often than normal. Drooling can lead to a facial rash, especially the skin around the chin and mouth. Gently wipe your baby’s mouth and chin periodically can help prevent chin rash. The extra saliva also can cause your baby to occasionally cough or gag.
Swallowing more drool than normal can lead loose stools. This loose bowel movements maybe apart of teething symptoms, but anyway you should check it to your doctor if this diarrhea is not related to teething. And remember, if this loose stool associated with teething, it can lead to diaper rash, too.
While most parents usually agree that some or all the symptoms above happened around the time of teething, it is still recommended that if your baby experiences any of these symptoms below, you cheek it with your pediatrician to rule out other possible causes for the symptoms.
Below might not teething symptoms.
Fever.
Fever is always a sign of infection, so if you found your baby increasing body temperature, please check it with your doctor.
Diarrhea, loosing stools might be related to teething symptoms, but diarrhea is not. So also check it with you pediatrician if this symptoms occur.
Vomiting. Vomiting also not related to teething symptoms, so check with your doctor if your baby vomiting often.
Reply:it could be the starting of teething, her gums wont look any diff untill right befor the teeth break throu. my son teethed from the age of 3months and he is now 7 months and is still teething, he just got his fifth tooth today. but i do understand about the nighttime thing. the only thing that helped my son was if i would cuddle him untill he fell asleep and i gave him baby orajel and infant tylenol also.
Reply:Oh yeah. I am going through this with my 6 month old. Her teeth finally came through a few days ago...
Teething is a subject Im just figuring out myself. I did however buy baby orajel- they have a nighttime and daytime tube in the package... So.. yeah..
Also.. I didnt think teeth were coming through- but the grandparents said they felt bumps on her gums.. So.. yeah bumps on gums.. swollen.. irritable...
I even felt like my daughters cry was new and painful when she first started to teeth.. She had tears.. So yeah..
Plus. I have learned to always trust your instincts. If you think she is teething... she probably is.. Get some more teething rings/toys!
Reply:maybe she dont like her crib that could be it
Reply:you need those teething rings that's what i got my baby cuz it helped a lot (buy at baby r us wall-mart any ware
Reply:If you have tried everything. Take the baby to the doctor. Hopefully it not nothing serious. She is too young now to be teething I think. If you can't get an appointment, talk with the nurse to give you some guide line for you baby girls.
Reply:I am a first time mom too and I met a gal at the grocery store that said to me, "I have 2 words for you. Teething tablets." She said they worked wonders and you get them at the drugstore. My son cries like that at night too. He is 4 months old and not teething yet, but soon he will I bet. I hear sometimes they do this for a couple months before the teeth break in. Good luck to you mommie.
Reply:get the teething tablets i was just told about this. i used orajal with my first. after trying the tablets they are 10 times better my son is 7 months and has two teeth and more coming in.
Reply:i dont think its teething but i could be wrong.... she could just be fighting sleep... try taking her an hour before bed give her a bath and have quit time so she isnt over stimulated at bed time. i thought the same thing about my son so i tried baby orajel it didnt work he didnt get teeth until 4 months... so it could just be overstimulated
