My 7-month old son is teething right now, and showing the obvious signs -- drooling, chewing on his fingers, red swollen gums around the teeth that are coming in(3), and waking up in the middle of the night screaming. He has been having a runny, green, and mucousy stool over the last 24 hours. As a result it has caused an awful blotchy red diaper rash all over his bottom which I been treating with diaper rash cream. He aready has 4 teeth, but he didn't suffer of diarrhea. Is this the kind of diarrhea that is often associated with teething, or is it possible it is caused by something else? %26amp; What can make the diahrria go away?
Teething %26amp; Diarrhea??
There is still no link to prove that diahrrea has anything to do with teething but my son experience it before too. He poop watery stool 3 times a day for 3 days. But after that it stopped. As long as there is no white jelly-like stuffs in his stool then his ok and make sure the poopingdon't last for more than 5 days or else it will be something else. Rash ,drooling, chewing on his fingers, red swollen gums around the teeth that are coming in(3), and waking up in the middle of the night screaming are common syptoms
Reply:I can only say keep him hydrated. Call your dr to see how much pedialyte he can have.
Reply:It could be, but I would keep an eye on it. It is very easy for a baby to dehydrate and I would take him to a doctor if you are in the least bit worried. Speak to your pharmacy and see what they advise, if you don't think it is bad enough for the doctors.

Teething problems?
My 5 month old son has been having a really hard time with teething! He is allergic to baby oragel, he hates teething rings, hates pacies, does not like anything cold in his mouth what so ever...i give him tylonal fever and pain reducer, it helps for a very short time...any suggestions or ideas? I have also told the doc. about this, and he pretty much says to wait it out.
Teething problems?
We use homeopathic teething tables by Hyland's, which are great. You can find them at any pharmacy. This is better than giving him baby tylenol everyday.
They can be dissolved under the tongue, which takes like 2 seconds, or can be administered in his bottle.
Also, what about a wet washcloth to chew on ?
Reply:my son hates the teething rings too, he seems to prefer to chew on his plastic toys (which arent soft AT ALL). im not sure what i can tell you other than just know that he wont teethe forever. good luck!!
Reply:You'll need to wait it out like the doc says... but you could try
Teething tablets (safe, natural and are well known to do the trick)
Teething biscuits (from gerber, messy but effective)
Love
There isn't much else you can do. And.. even with Orajel, tylenol and teething tablets my daughter still has some hard times when teething and there is NOTHING that helps her.
I only gave my daughter Tylenol IF she had a fever otherwise I found it really didn't do much good for the "pain" part.
Reply:You can also try rubbing a very SMALL amount of whiskey on his gums....this will help dull the pain for him.
I have never done this myself....but I know people who have and it works wonders!

Question about teething?
I just posted a question a little while ago about my 2 month old possibly teething. Over the last few days he's been drooling more, he's been running low temps, and he's been more irritable/restless than usual. The only thing that really seems to comfort him right now is his binkie or his finger or mine. I tried a frozen washcloth, and he seemed to like it for a few seconds but then he was unable to keep a grasp on it. The teething rings seem a little too big for him. Are there any other things that could work? I haven't been able to feel buds but I know that he's dry, he's not hungry, and he's been burped. His behavior is different from usual which is why I know something is changing, but I don't know what's best to comfort him. I'd hate to use something like baby orajel or something unless I knew for sure that he was teething. Any advice?
Question about teething?
Babies can begin teething at any time and some are even born with teeth. So it's a possibility. One of the things my son likes is chewing on carrots. They're cold, hard %26amp; taste great!

Reply:My boyfriends mom froze tootsie-pops for him when he was a baby....Lots of sugar but it was the only thing he liked.
Good Luck, poor baby =(
Reply:If he seems to like the frozen washcloth, try letting him suck on your finger through the frozen washcloth, therefore you are holding it for him. You might be able to get him to suck on it long enough to let him fall asleep. Good luck!
Reply:i had the same problem. i always just used my finger. and in a really extreme situation i gave her baby tylenol. they say not to use baby orajel anymore because if your child were to accidentally swallow some it would numb his gag reflex and he could choke... even on his own spit up
Reply:When my children were teething I used cloves spice. I get my finger wet and put a little dry cloves on it and rub it on their teeth with my finger. Cloves seems to work great it numbs it, takes down the swelling and kills any infections and its safe. Just does not taste the greatest.
P.S.
You can also use call a nurse to see what is the best thing to do.
Good luck
Reply:Even though I have had three kids and have become more and more relaxed about kids' running a low fever or being fussy, I would still suggest that you take your baby to the pediatrician just to make sure that there isn't anything wrong. The baby is only 2 months old and you just don't want to take any chances, unless you have a doctor or nurse among your relatives and friends who can help you make sure that his recent change of behavior isn't cause by any other reason.
Reply:two months old is WAY too young to start teething....
my son acted like that at two months, it is just baby....
Reply:2 months is NOT too early. My oldest daughter had her first bottom tooth break through at 9 weeks.
My youngest daughter is 8 weeks old and has all of the same symptoms as your son. I ended up taking her to the pediatrician for a healthy baby check up and he noticed all of the drooling and such too. He put his finger in her mouth and said one of her bottom teeth was almost ready to break through.
I put my daughters pacifiers in the freezer. I have the soothies like the ones they give out at the hospital. I have about 8 of those, and I freeze them every night and hand them out in the daytime when she needs them.

Teething tablets? Top teeth first?
How many of you have tried teething tablets? Do they work better than Orajel? I have 4.5 month old who is teething pretty badly and it seems to be getting worse the passed couple of days. The Orajel seems to be wearing off before it is time to apply more. Also, has anyone's child(ren) gotten their top teeth before the bottom? His top gums seem to be much more tender/inflammed than the bottom.
Teething tablets? Top teeth first?
Humphrey's teething tabs were a lifesaver for our second child. We didn't even know about them when we had our first. Yes, I think they are better than Orajel. The doctor also told us that we could use benadryl rubbed on the gums.
Top or bottom, I don't know. I think it depends on the child. The front ones definitely pop up first. They're also the first to go once they hit 5-7 years of age. It's kind of neat--the symmetry of it all.
Also, what I've found with my children, is that asking the pharmacist often helps a lot. Sometimes they know tricks even the doctors don't.
Also, I loved the little blue Gerber gum brush! The kids loved it, too. I would rub their gums (just with water) to keep them clean and they'd chew at it and sooth their sore little gums. Of course I had to abandon the practice when more teeth showed up to save my fingers!

Reply:Try Humphreys, they work great. They can be a little hard to find but they are out there. My sister used to make us ship them to her because that was the only thing that worked. I believe you can find them at Target. Good luck. I do not think it is abnormal to get the top teeth first.
Reply:My daughter had a hard time teething, and Hylands homeopathic teething tablets worked well for us.

Reply:I've used both, and I think it works best if you give the tablet, then apply Orajel because it's instant and seems to give relief until the tablet takes effect. My twins have been teething for 4 months (they'll be 8 months next week), and one just got his first bottom tooth--no signs of top teeth.
Reply:don't they sell teething rings anymore (with the jel in them? that you put in the frig to keep them cool...that the child sucks on...)
Reply:Whenever your child begins teething, you may notice that your child seems to drool more, and seems to want to chew on things. For some babies, teething is painless. Others may experience brief periods of irritability, and some may seem cranky for weeks, experiencing crying episodes and disrupted sleeping and eating patterns. Teething can be uncomfortable, but if your baby seems very irritable, contact your child's doctor.
Although tender and swollen gums could cause your baby's temperature to be a little higher than normal, teething, as a rule, does not cause high fever or diarrhea. If your baby does develop a fever during the teething phase, it is probably due to something else and your child's doctor should be contacted.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when your baby is teething:
Wipe your baby's face often with a cloth to remove the drool and prevent rashes from developing.
Place a clean, flat cloth under the baby's head during sleep to catch the drool. This way, you'll only have to change the cloth when it gets wet, not the whole sheet.
Give your baby something to chew on. Make sure it's big enough so that he or she can't swallow it and that it can't break into small pieces. A wet washcloth placed in the freezer for 30 minutes makes a handy teething aid - just be sure to wash it after each use. Rubber teething rings are also good, but avoid the ones with liquid inside because they may break. If you use a teething ring, be sure to take it out of the freezer before it becomes rock hard - you don't want to bruise those already swollen gums!
Rub your baby's gums with a clean finger.
Never tie a teething ring around a baby's neck, as it could get caught on something and strangle the baby.
If your baby seems irritable, acetaminophen may help - but always consult your child's doctor first. Never place an aspirin against the tooth, and don't rub whiskey on your baby's gums.
Baby Teeth Hygiene
The care and cleaning of your baby's teeth is important for long-term dental health. Even though the first set of teeth will fall out, tooth decay can hasten this process and leave gaps before the permanent teeth are ready to come in. The remaining primary teeth may then crowd together to attempt to fill in the gaps, which may cause the permanent teeth to come in crooked and out of place.
Daily dental care should begin even before your baby's first tooth emerges. Wipe your baby's gums daily with a clean, damp washcloth or gauze, or brush them gently with a soft, infant-sized toothbrush and water (no toothpaste!). As soon as the first tooth appears, brush them with water.
Toothpaste is OK to use on your child's teeth once he or she gets old enough to spit it out - usually around age 3. Choose one with fluoride and use only a pea-sized amount or less in younger children. Don't let your child swallow the toothpaste or eat it out of the tube because an overdose of fluoride can be harmful for children.
By the time all your baby's teeth are in, it's a good idea to brush your child's teeth at least twice a day, and especially after meals. It's also important to get your child used to flossing early on. A good time to start flossing is when two teeth start to touch. Talk to your child's dentist for advice on flossing those tiny teeth. You can also get your toddler interested in the routine by letting him or her watch and imitate you as you brush and floss on a regular basis.
Another important tip for preventing tooth decay: don't let your baby fall asleep with a bottle. The milk or juice can pool in her mouth and cause tooth decay and plaque.
The American Dental Association recommends that children see a dentist by age 1, when six to eight teeth are in place, to spot any potential problems and advise parents about preventive care.

ice cube tied up in a baby sock
ice cube in a Baby Safe Feeder (mesh feeding bag)
metal spoon that has been kept in freezer
stalk of cold, hard celery

Teething at 3 1/2 months ?
my daughter is already teething at 3 1/2 months is this normal? and she has diarrhea, diaper rash, fever, red cheeks is this associtated with teething?
Teething at 3 1/2 months ?
Thats all very normal. I got my first tooth at 2 months old, my daughter got hers at 3 months, and my friends baby is cutting her first tooth at one month. The symptoms that you described are typical, but make sure the fever doesnt get too high. Ask your doc at what temp you should call him, just in case. When your baby gets old enough to hold things, I recommend a mild flavored, tough jerky. The gnawing helps cut the teeth in faster, and relieves the pain. Plus, unlike plastic teething rings, it tastes good and isnt too cold, so your baby will want to chew on it longer. Make sure the jerky is tough, and replace it with a new piece when it starts to fall apart.
Reply:yep, my son is 3 1/2 months and he is teething like crazy!!! red cheeks, fever, are usual symptoms. You might want to see if what you are feeding her is causing diarrhea and diaper rash, but I'm sure nothing to worry about. And always if you are worried call the baby doc and ask
Reply:it can happen. my son started showing symptoms of teething around that age. he's now almost eight months and his teeth (two bottom front) finally poked through a couple weeks ago. good luck!!
Reply:Well honestly i have never heard of a baby teething that young..but i am sure itns' known to happen and yes all those signs are associtated with teething..well i know mine was..INFANTS ADVIL worked wonders on my child...
Reply:yes it can happen. my daughter got her first tooth at 4 months, and all those other problems are deffinatly associated with teething, good luck
Reply:yep, my son started before 3 1/2 weeks
Reply:my daughter started teehing at 2 1/2 months but none of the other symptoms you might need to take her to a docter
Reply:yeah my son was 2½ - 3 months when he had his first tooth
Reply:Teething can start at 2 weeks of age, some babies are born with teeth, so 3 1/2 months is normal. Mine actually never had the diarrhea and alll the other related symptoms, but each baby is different. It is a drooly mess that never stopped even after mine got her teeth in. Good luck and watch out when they stick your fingers in their mouth, those little teeth are sharp!
Reply:My kids teethed before that. They also got bad diaper rash from it and the occasional fever. All withing the normal range, don't worry.
Good luck!
Reply:yeah it is completely normal...dr.'s will tell you they can't but it happens all the time...I did it and my goddaughter did it...so don't worry...if she acts like she is a lot of pain you can give her like half a dose of baby tylenol and it will help her a lot.
Reply:Yes, i have 4 children. 2 of my 4 had 8 teeth by the time they were 6 months old. my oldest son on the other hand didn't start teething until he was 13 months old. All children are different.
All 4 of my kids were cranky, ran a 99-102 fever while teething. Red cheeks is probably just from the fever. Diaper rash is common with diarreah. Symptoms usually go away in about a week. If your baby has more than 3-4 diarreah's a day I would take him/her to the doctor. They easily dehydrate at that age.
Hope it helps
Only give fever reducer when nec. your baby is young to give it just for crankiness or discomfort. You can also give them a cool wet rag to suck on. I know it sounds nasty but they are really too young for teething rings %26amp; frozen teethers.
Reply:Yes, it is normal. My daughter was teething that young. Babies teeth for a month or 2 before the actual tooth erupts. All these symptoms are very normal and can be associated with teething. Has the tooth already erupted? My daughter came in very quickly. One right after the other. She had two by the time she turned six months. The red cheeks also could be a sign of exzema. My daughter started this at 4 months also. I hope I have been helpful. E-mail me a janinebat@msn.com if you have any questions. Good luck.
Reply:Some kids are born with teeth, actually. One of mine had a first tooth at two months. By six months, she had 12. And I know another kid who had no teeth at all until she was 15 months old. There's a huge window considered "normal" when it comes to teething.
Some pediatricians will tell you that teething doesn't cause any of that stuff, and others will say that it's all related. All I know is that my kids experienced all of that stuff during the period they were teething. There was definitely a correllation, even if I can't tell you that it was CAUSED by teething.
But the diaper rash is likely caused by the diarrhea, and you can treat that. The rest of it, you likely just have to tough it out.
With your pediatrician's OK, you can make your baby more comfortable with Tylenol or Motrin. Motrin works better and lasts longer, but you can alternate the two (i.e. a dose of one at 12, a dose of the other at 3, and then the first again at 6) for a few days to minimize the pain.
Our pediatrician said to stay away from stuff like Orajel. She said it doesn't last long at all to control the pain, that most of it washes right off, and that it can upset your baby's stomach and add to her distress.
Something cold to chew on is best. A wet washcloth works well.
Reply:Poor little thing. Its a good thing that we don't remember being a baby !! All the diaper rash, shots, teething and for alot of baby boys, circumcising !!!
I freeze clean damp wash clothes or give my grand baby cool pops that are UN-opened.Finding the prefect teething ring is next to impossible!! My grand baby likes my nylon eye glass fob. What can i do, it makes her happy so i let her chew..GOOD LUCK with your baby..And remember This too shall pass...
Reply:perfectly normal. if she has fever etc, justt give her some baby tylenol or advil. some things that helped my kids were cold teething rings, and clove oil( cut it with regular veggie oils NOT peanut oil), Just rub it on her gums it will numb them. anbesol was ok but clove oil was better
good luck!
Reply:Yes my baby girl started at 3 months, and diarrhea, diaper rash, fever, all those things have to do with teething. Just be shure to give her pedialyte, for her diarrhea and Tylenol for her fever, and she will be just fine. It is frusting but it is ok.
Reply:my daughter got her first two teeth at three months. it can cause alot of other symptoms like the fever but not the diaper rash or diarrhea. you should go to the dr for the diarrhea and get cream for the rash. give her pedialyte till you get there. it helps the dehyration caused by diarrhea and should mellow the fever some. also try rubbing infant tylenol on her gum for teething pain and irratability. get dye free, trust me. teeth pain changes eating habits also so that might explain the diarrhea but i wouldn't chance it if its real bad or it persists. but baby poop is usually a litttle runny. fyi
Reply:it is definately normal to teeth at this time. I think most babies get their first tooth around 4-6 months. some babies are even strangely born with teeth! Anyhow, crankiness and fever are all VERY common symptoms of teething. diarrhea is as well, which can irritate her skin and cause diaper rash. The best thing you can do for her is give her tylenol for the fever and discomfort and give her a cold wash cloth to just chew and such on. depending on the child, she may want her gums rubbed. Howeer- DO NOT use baby orajel bc it has alcohol in it which can irritate the gums if a tooth has broke it open. Just tylenol! Also, for the diaper rash, use Aquafor... it is WONDERFUL!
Good luck!
Reply:I thought my baby was teething at that age, he's 5 months old now and I still haven't seen a tooth. He had alot of the symptoms you mentioned. You may want to keep an eye on him, my son had alot of diarrhea and then it had some blood in it, some how he had gotten a bacterial infection and Rotovirus at the same time.
Reply:if you go to the store and get baby oral gel, it states that teething does not consist of any symptoms. if so to contact a doctor. plus if you get oral gel dont use for more than 7 days. i have a 4 month old as well, and just brought some oral gel.
good luck
Reply:Yes...my baby brother cut his first tooth at 3 months so it is normal/possible.
Reply:thats totaly normal,my daughter has been teething since she was just about 3 months, she's now almost 5 months and has 4 teeth....

Granddaughter is teething she also developed twitching of her head dr says its the pressure has anyone heard?
my grandaughter 8 months old is teething the twitching of her head ive never heard of with teething we have a family history of epilipsy and it looked like a piti small seizure we brought her into the hospital she was fine ,have any of you had the preasure of teething cause head twiching
thank you very worried grand ma
Granddaughter is teething she also developed twitching of her head dr says its the pressure has anyone heard?
I'd make an appointment with a neurologist just to be on the safe side.
Mention the family history to the doctor. They should take it VERY seriously if they know.
NO, I've never heard of that either.
Reply:Teething does cause sinus discomfort and she may be feeling it in her ears. The doctor can check her ears for fluid build up. Since there is family history of epilepsy you are right not to ignore it and I don't blame you for being worried.
Reply:get a second opinion right away, if it is something serious it better to catch it now, go to a doctors office and get referred to a specialist don't go to the E.R. they only treat and street people they don't help if it is not a life or death situation

Teething already?
What are signs of teething with babys i have a 4 1/2 month old baby and latley she has been chewing on her fingers really hard and has been getting up about three 0 clock in the morning when she usally sleeps through the night. Is this the start of teething.
Teething already?
she could be teething. my kids started doing that around the same time. get her a cold washcloth or a teething ring. good luck!
Reply:Probably, lots of babies already have teeth at 4 monthes. Mine did.
Reply:Yup, that is probably it. You may not be able to see or feel any teeth in there for like a month or so, it takes a while. but that is what my son did.
Reply:teething symtoms can come and go even before a tooth comes. If you are first time mom it is hard to tell. I did not tell until I say a white spot on the gum line. If she will let you stick your finger in there and feel around. She most likely is some baies start teething earlier than others.
Reply:i would say yes from the info your giving. you can help with the itchy gums by taking a face cloth, wetting it, and sticking it in the freezer. after it is frozen (not solid) give it to baby. the cold and texture of cloth will make her feel better. also, you can check her gums to see how she is doing by looking for any white on the gums or bumps on the front of her gums (that will be her teeth coming up) on the bottom they always seem to come first. good luck if she is teething you are just in the beginning of a lot of sleep interrupted nights.
Reply:It very likely is teething. However, she may not get her teeth for some time yet. My little one started "chewing" at 5 months and just got her first 2 teeth at 14 months. If it seems to be bothering her, ask your pediatrician about giving her a little Tylenol at night.
Reply:My son was 4 months when his first tooth came in (bottom front right).
Good luck!
Reply:Yup! Our youngest got her first teeth at 4 months (on the bottom jaw) She didn't get the third tooth until 6 months though.

Teething 9mo. old?
my daughter is 9mo. and her gums have been swolllen for a couple months now and she has been teething and last week she had a fever for 2 days really cranky chewing on everything and then this week she has done the same exact thing but still no teeth have popped through how long does it usually take after they really start teething with a fever and everything i feel so bad for her i wish they would just come through already
Teething 9mo. old?
According to my mom I didn't get teeth until 2 weeks AFTER my first birthday. This was due to my thick gums. I would highly recommend instead of the tylenol try Hylands or Humphrey's Teething Tablets. Also, if she's already eating solids, try to give her one of those teething mesh thingys that you can put fruit in it. You can put a piece of cantelope or apple that is REALLY cold and have her chew on it. It will help keep the inflammation down. Teething bisquits help as well. If you haven't done so already, get an infant toothbrush (it has nubs on it instead of bristles) and brush her teeth twice a day and put some orajel on it and it will stimulate the gums so that the tooth can errupt quicker.
I hope this helps!

Reply:yeah like when they reach a year then they will start coming out. one thing that will make your baby relax is teething toys, and baby orajel. that will numb her gums. also try not to touch her gums because she might get infected.
Reply:teeth usually start coming in around 6 months, some earlier, some later. I would expect hers to come in any day now if she is already 9 mos.
Reply:they'll pop through soon...give the kid some tylenol and a teething ring. you'll both get through it.
Reply:every person is different so who is to tell. good luck to you and daughter
Reply:Maybe you should see your doctor or dentist.
Just to be sure they're coming in right?
Reply:you need to take a clean wash cloth and tie an ice cube in a knot and give it to baby to bite on. it will sooth the gums and help the teeth come in
Reply:teeth actually start developing while your baby's in the womb, when tooth buds form in the gums. Teeth break through one at a time over a period of months, and often — but not always — in this order: First the bottom two middle teeth, then the top two middle ones, then the ones along the sides and back. They may not all come in straight, but don't worry — they usually straighten out over time.
Reply:Every child is different. The only thing you can really do is give her a childs pain reliever. There are many over the counter options. Also try freezing a teething ring..they really like gumming these and the cold numbs the pain
Reply:my son is 6 months and has been doing the same thing for over a month with still no teeth. They tell me it could be months.
On another note: if you use teething tablets, check the ingreditants VERY carefully. My pediatrician was telling us that the most common tablet(sold at walmart) contains belladonna, which is poisonous!!! And coffee!! So read the list of ingredients before you give them to your daughter
good luck!!
Reply:Some are late teethers. Wet a washcloth and put in the freezer for 5 minutes and let her chew on it. It will comfort her chewing need and the cold will help with the swelling and pain.
for you just be patient and loving.

Teething? Something else? My usually very happy baby has not let me put him down all day. If I do he starts?
bawling, screaming, and tears start even streaming down his face (i've never even seen him do this before!) I can't tell if it is teeth or something else. He doesnt have a temperature and he has drooled for as long as I can remember. Anything else you can think of? If he is teething, what's the best thing for him besides teething rings? I don't have any orgel for tonight so, that will have to wait until tomorrow.
Teething? Something else? My usually very happy baby has not let me put him down all day. If I do he starts?
Hylands teething tabs- everyone I know that has used them has loved them- they are homeopathic and completly safe and effective
Reply:Is he chewing on his fingers?
It won't help tonight, but a friend of mine had the same issue. She swears by Gripe Water.
Reply:Do you have any other pain relief for babies? Like the liquid paracetamol we have in the UK? It wouldn't do any harm.
It could be many things - change in routine, separation anxiety, he may be coming down with a cold even but not showing it yet. Or it may simply be that he's discovered that if he does this, he gets to be held close and that is what he wants today. He may have a tummy ache, or a pain somewhere else that you can't see. I assume he's on solids now? Is he having a growth spurt and hungrier than usual?
My son is clingy and tearful a day or two before some virus or other appears. He's 5 now and its still a good indicator that he's off-colour.
It makes for a tiring day and probably night too. Keep comforting and cuddling and he should get through it.
Reply:I bet he is teething. Give him some type of pain reliever and then make a bottle with ice and some juice or water or both. The cold really helps and sometimes my son would just sorta play with it because it was cold and helped. Just hold him and comfort him through this, it will be like this for a while. My youngest gets really bad when teething and so I have come up with little ways to help him. I will tell you though that some days I never get up because he is only happy when I hold him when he is teething, Good luck and hope he feels better soon.
Reply:Until you can get to the store and buy teething tablets- they dissolve in his mouth, popsicles, really cold wash cloth to chew on, if he's nursing? you. Infant Tylenol is helpful but can't be used long term.

Teething... ARGH!!!?
I am so worried about my nearly 6 month old daughter... she is teething really badly and wont take a bottle at all. Today she has only had 200mls of milk, which is only 5-6 ounces for the entire day. She is having solids three times a day but I read she is supposed to have something like 500-600mls of milk per day. She is up all night for the last week and is miserable all the time. Nap times are also troubled and she is a completely different child... I am feeling so teary because I don't know what to do. I have tried everything and she has been living off Calpol, Bonjela and Teething powders... Do you think she needs to take more milk??? I have taken her to the doc and they think to seem she is OK - is this all normal? I can hear her stiring again and she has only just gone down for the night.... ARGH!!!! Help please.....
Teething... ARGH!!!?
My son is almost 7 months old and has 4 teeth. What I found that helps is this...
Night time baby Orajel (comes with a finger fitted gum massager for EASY application)
Lavender bath soap routine before bed
And frequent feedings
I feed my son cereal twice a day and a jar of baby food once a day. He eats 4oz every 2-3 hours still but isn't an overweight baby. I guess it just depends on the child. With all the crawling my son does no wonder, he's burning it all off. lol He rarely ever eats 6 oz at a time cause when he does it comes right back up.
If you're doc thinks she's ok then that's fine. Teething is not only rough on the child but also the parents. I know that every time my child would get a tooth it was a week of getting up at least once a night.
It's pretty normal how she's acting, but not necessarily how much milk she's intaking. I do recommend getting her that night time baby orajel cause that helped with my son. Maybe she'll eat more if it's numbed better? Also let her chew on lots and lots of teething rings cause that'll make the process go by faster.
ALSO, no one told me about nipple sizes I had to find out for myself. grrr You may want to go up to a higher level of flow. When I changed that and started using the lavender soup my son began to sleep through the time. He was 5 months old, boy did that suck. Then teething happened so I got the night time kind of orajel and all turned out well.
Reply:sorry cant help, experiencing similar - post back how u get on
Reply:Get her a cold rag and tie ice in it. Or get a cold ice cube and put on her gums. Also give her a cold nipple. If not get her some medicine from the doctor.
Reply:As long as she gets some milk in, I wouldn't worry. If she eats baby cereal/rice, mix it with her formula to get more in her. Try making the bottles cold. My son always took his bottles very warm until he started to teeth. The coldness soothes their gums and feels good.
Try giving her a dose of Infant Motrin an hour before bedtime. It lasts 8 hours and it'll kick in before she goes down. Teething tablets sold at Walmart work too. MUCH easier then trying to put baby oragel on their gums. They dissolve instantly after you stick them in their mouth. They are tiny tablets (smaller then birth control pills).
I know it's tough, but good luck!
Reply:Babies wont starve themselves. My little one actually started teething at 3.5 months and there was a week I thought she wasn't hardly getting anything in her. But she made it through and started eating better. You just have to wait it out...and try and make them as comfortable as possible. My little girl is now 5 months old. It seems the teething has let up...if that's possible...or maybe it's just not bothering her as much. I guess there are just stages. I tried swabs that you rub the meds on their gums...seemed to work a little.
Reply:This will not sound very PC,but my mother used to buy a small bottle of whisky and rub a tiny bit on my brother and sisters gums, and she said it always worked to numb the teething bit.Personally i am a bit sceptical, but my brothers and sisters are not,all of them having children and me not.
Reply:give your child, aston and parsons. i used these for both my children and they are great! they sooth the gums and the stomach! they help the child to calm down. here is a web link for more info:
http://www.expresschemist.co.uk/product_...
you can also buy them in boots!
they work really well and very quickly! even if they dont work for your baby, use them yourself as they will help you to calm down!!!
i am not sure if these are the powders you have tried already but they have worked for everyone i know!!!
have you also tried giving your daughter milk off a spoon or a srynge? this might help as there will be nothing resting on the gum! dont give her anything frozen as you will burn her delicate skin around her mouth and the coldness of it is not good for her stomach!
hope this helps! and remember this time will pass eventually!!
Reply:Both my kids were horrible monsters when teething. The only thing that we found that worked was these little disolvable tablets called Hyland teething tablets (www.hylands.com/products/teething.php) They were a God send for us and the little monsters... There's nothing worse that feeling like there is nothing you can do for the little one, there worth a shot...
Reply:This is going to sound crazy, but it works. When my first child was teething my mom rubbed tequila on her gums and it worked miracles. I now have another and will definitely be trying that with her once she starts teething. Of course, your'e only rubbing it on there gums so it wont harm them.
Reply:If she is eating solids, then make her solids up with formula - so you could make up baby rice with a few ounces of formula, or make a sauce with formula. That would get a few more ounces into her.
I put my baby in his cot with a teether in her hand, and then he can chew that. Chewing on plastic is the only thing that calms him down.
I feel for you - I am going through the same thing at the moment. But it won't last long. Those teeth will be through soon.

Teething biscuits that melt in the mouth?
My daughter is almost 6 months old and is teething as well as being very interested in food.
I want to give her teething biscuits but I dont want to give her ones that she could choke on. What are the best ones out there?
Please, no answers about not using them.
Teething biscuits that melt in the mouth?
I give my daughter rice rusks (not sure if it's spelled right) and she does well with them. Of course with any teething foods you need to make sure they are well supervised, but she really likes them and I haven't had problems with them. They dissolve and taste like kix cereal. My daughter is 6 months as well. As long as she is supervised you are fine. They basically end up being like baby cereal when dissolved. I've never had a problem with them.
Reply:arrowroot cookies are really good, they come in banana or just regular. my son loved them for teething purposes.
Reply:I bought these rice rusks today that say they melt in the mouth, safe for baby starting solids. Well, I give him one (he is 7 months) and a piece breaks off in his mouth. I pulled it out right away. It was not melting, it was big/small enough for him to choke on! I was pissed. Anyway, i'm going to try something different like good old biscuits or frozen banana.
Reply:arrowroot biscuits, melt in the mouth. They used to be in the baby food aisle of the grocery store (my youngest is 4, so it's been a while). They're made by Nabisco I think.
Although they melt in your mouth, they also break easy, so be careful and never leave her alone with them. She could still get a big piece off and choke before it melts.
Another great thing for teething is put a frozen banana in one of those nylon teething pouch things. The cold soothes sore gums and the piece of banana that come through the mesh are too small to choke on and by the time she gets it through the mesh it's not frozen anymore.

Teething advice?
I give my daughter Motrin, teething tablets, orajel. What else, besides those things, can I do for her? She doesn't care for her teething ring. She's 18 months old.
Teething advice?
Since she is 18 months old, she has a molar or two (I am guessing).
My daughter LOVES refrigerated bananas. She chomps on them and they cool her gums down.
Try it.
Reply:let her chew on something soft but firm
Reply:ice cubes in washcloths, hard crackers, advil if she's in pain, and popsicles.
Reply:fingers works..my son loved that..just make sure your hands are clean.
Reply:Take a Popsicle stick and gently rub on any gums that are still covering the top of the teeth. (DO NOT SCRAPE!!)
Reply:I kept a stack of frozen wet washcloths ready. My kids loved to chew on them. It really helped with the teething pain.
Reply:Try giving her a popcicle
Reply:all u can do is let her bite something hard not too hard mind. mine had terrible time dring teething. best of luck
Reply:Bare with her it wont last forever, and nothing gets rid of the pain for long !! I rubbed Whiskey on my kids gums, your mama probably did too, it is definatly old school.
Reply:You can get those mesh things that have a handle. They are usually used to put fruit inside so the baby can chew and not choke on the fruit. You can put an ice cube in there.
I wouldn't give her Motrin. That seems a little much.
Reply:cold washcloth,popsicles,childrens tylenol-thats all i used for my son
Reply:my favorite thing when i was little was this chew thingy with this gel on the inside. my mom would put it in the freezer so it was frozen and all. its A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
i used the same thing when my wizdom teeth came in. trust me. it helps so much.
Reply:if your daughter is breastfed you can give her breastmilk freezes ( homemade) you can do the same with homo milk and or formula, put the milk in an ice cube tray until frozen get one of them net like things that stops large pieces from getting out and chokin your little one and give it to her to naw on, You can buy sugar less freezes from all stores and give them to her. Frozen banana pieces works well.
Pretty much anything that is cold will work wonders. Mortin is an anti inflanatory which means it will take the swelling down in her gums and aswell as the pain it is better than tylenol.
There is a toy called the Super Yummy it is from discoverytoys and is about 13.00 or so and it is amazing for teething, it is red
Good luck
Reply:My daughter loved frozen apple and orange slices.
Good, messy (yes) but kept her from crying since her gums were numb from coldness.
18 months so she can eat them.
Reply:Zweback cookies (Nabisco ?) in the baby isle. My parents swear by them. My son didn't care for them but he's almost 17 months and isn't teething anymore--he was an early teether. Try it!
Reply:soft cold and chewy things like a cold banana or an ice pop
Reply:SUGAR TIT!! It is what my grandma and mom used. You get some sugar...put it in some kind of mesh cloth she can suck on and dip it in Rum. Not kidding it works like a charm...my daughter started teething 2 days after my husband got deployed and that was the only thing that worked.
Reply:I know a lot of people have already mentioned it, but the mesh thing. You can put ice chips, frozen banana, or another type of fruit. You can even freeze fruit juice and put in there. The frozen washcloths are great too. I also only used the night time baby oragel with mine. My oldest also did love those gerber biscuit things. Boy are they messy! Mine also really loved bath time, so while he was teething I used it to distract him. He was too busy having fun to notice the pain. Maybe let her do something fun like finger paints. You'll have a mess on your hands, but that beats hearing her cry and she has some good fun. Hope this helps!

Teething queston?
My daughter is 5 1/2 mos. She's been cranky every night for the last week and hasn't hardly slept either, she's been drooling and chewing on her fist for the last month. I know these are all signs of teething, but just in the last week, she's been spitting up a lot, pretty much after every time she eats or drinks something. I've noticed it more just yesterday and today. Is this also part of teething? I have plans to contact her doctor tomorrow but I'm just curious to know what mommies think. I'm a first time mom. Thank you.
Teething queston?
Yes, it is. Give her the teething rings. Also rub some whisky on her gums. It really works.
Reply:Yes this is normal when a child is teething and sometimes that have diarrhea as well so be prepared. For the vomiting try pedialyte to replace her electrolytes from all that vomiting.
Reply:Could be teething but it could also be somehting she is eating? Is she on cereal yet? If so try a different kind (rice, ost, etc..).
Reply:Yes its OK feel her gums or look in her mouth to see if there are white dots let her chew on some thing cold
some good things are put a put a carrot in the freezer and let her chew on it or a waffle
and a ice bag but be careful she could chew a hole in it. they have textured toys that are good
they have baby oragel
I agree with the wiskey it may sound bad but its just a couple of drops off your finger you will see a marked inprovemnet for hours
Reply:Baby oral gel for the gums. Also a pop sickle they come in real fruit flavors. The coolness will help.Grandma's give them a soft cloth with chipped ice.inside.The babies chewed on it for comfort.
Reply:Yes, the spitting up is probably caused by teething. My dd got her first tooth right at 5 1/2 months.
My son currently has 5 teeth at 8 months. I know when he is teething hard core because his stool get soooo stinky. We say that it is "acidic" from all the drool he is swallowing.
Teething is on going. It really seems to go on for months and months. So, you will figure out what comforts your baby the best. My dd liked to nurse, my ds likes to bite me while nursing... Ha ha. My dd loved ice chips, my ds hates super cold stuff.
Reply:Put her teeting rings in the frigerator so they can be cold for her gums, also try baby orajel! That helps!

Teething baby.?
Our baby is teething early. Seems she does everything early. She is even in the 95% for length. Need some advice on teething. first baby.
Teething baby.?
Our baby is teething too. If she doesn't seem in pain, just drooly and chewy, give her some things to chew. My kids liked the rubber teething rings(I put them in the fridge). Our baby is having alot of pain so we're using baby orajel. YOu can usually tell where the tooth is coming in by where the swelling is. He's also been getting low fevers in the evening so we've been using tylenol for that. Frozen washcloths are great when they can hold them themselves. Just wet a corner, freeze for about 10 minutes, and they can chomp away. It helps take down the swelling, and it's not a huge mess. I've heard a rash can be common too, but I don't have any experience with that. Good Luck
Reply:baby orajel works wonders, teething rings(you can put them in the freezer or fridge to be cold they like them better), give her a cold wash cloth, popsicles, clean her gums gently or brush with a baby toothbrush just with water she'll like the feeling.
Reply:well orajel never worked with my kids, so i used to get a qtip and dip it into some whiskey and rub it on their gums and that helped them so much better and the doctor said it was okay,, or let her chew on a frozen french fry or a frozen wash cloth
Reply:How old is your baby? My baby just had her first 2 teeth pop through the gums, but she's been teething for about a month or so. She is almost 5 months old now.
Give her stuff to chew on. You probably have the problem I have, all of the teething rings are too heavy for her to hold in her mouth, so are wet wash cloths. I ended up giving my baby whatever she could hold to her mouth to chew on which ended up being - receiving blankets (which we use for spit up rags anyways), really small stuff animals, we have a soft ring toy that squeaks, rattles, etc. she chews on that, as well as those plastic links you can buy and link together in a chain. She can hold those good, and you can hook a chain of them to her car seat etc.
Other than that you can try Tylenol, teething tablets, and a very small amount of oragel if needed. I only use the oragel as a very last resort when she is inconsolable.
You can also try massaging her gums with clean hands (and trimmed fingernails), sometimes that gives them some temporary relief and they calm down a little bit.
Oh, and I don't know that those charts are always right. At her 2 month appt she was in the 95th percentile in height and weight. At 4 months she was 75% in weight and OFF the scale for height, the Dr. said she was the avg. height of a 7 month old! I think as long as your baby is making steady progress, don't worry about all those numbers too much :)
Reply:give her something to teeth on like putting a teething ring in the freezer and let her teeth on that, my mom gave my brother a carrot to teeth on when he was a baby so really anything that is safe and okay for him to chew on is okay for her to teeth with, give her Tylenol especially if she has a fever and just hold and cuddle her as cuddling with mommy or daddy can always make you feel better when you don't feel good
Reply:How old is your baby? Our 9 month old has shown signs of teething since he was 3 months old (red cheeks, lots of drool, bum rash) but no teeth yet. It has been a LONG process and sometimes teeth can move up and down until they finally poke through. Advice....give her a teething ring or cool face cloth for comfort. Massage her gums with a clean finger. If she is clearly uncomfortable give her tylenol but don't give tylenol without reason as studies are showing that parents are overdosing their babies with meds and this is leading to liver failure. So, use this route only if she is clearly uncomfortable. Don't use teething gel as it can cause too much numbness and can cause your baby to choke. I tried it on myself and stayed numb for 7 hours. I used it once on my baby and he was uncomfortable with it all night long. I hope this helps but remember, although you think she is teething, you might not see anything for a long time.

Reply:Give her a cold, hard object. Its been shown that instead of "Soft" like parents usually offer, that something firm or hard will help the tooth to break through the skin faster.

Questions about teething?
does teething mess with the sleeping habits and feeding habits.. my pediatrician said my son is teething ..and his schedule that he normally is on has been hay wire...and sometimes he will eat more and then less..so i didnt know if this had anything to do with teething..?
Questions about teething?
Yep it sound like your little guy is definitely teething. They make teething tablets you can give. They come in daytime and nighttime tablets. Frozen wash cloths and teething rings will help too.
Reply:It has everything to do with teething.Poor little thing is in pain.
Reply:surely.
his mouth hurts. sometimes so bad he cant sleep well or eat well. then when it feels better ..... he's really hungry and will eat more.
Reply:teething messes with all kinds of things and even more so when it comes to sleeping. use some tylenol before bed because teething gets worse when babies sleep
Reply:Lol, my daughter is teething too and she's been haywire lately and driving me nuts. Won't eat her solids for a day and a half and not drinking as many bottles, then eating a bunch at one sitting and ready for more twenty minutes later, lol. Sleeping's all messed up too and she's broken about 6 nipples gumming them so hard the holes become huge. It's a pain in our butts lol, but it's harder on them. Just keep using the relief method that works best(teething tablets, orajel, frozen wash cloth, etc) and remember it is a stage(well that's what they've told me, she's my 1st, lol) Good luck!
Reply:yes it can mess up sleeping and eating habits.
Try giving him teething tablets, i got them at the pharmacy in the baby aisle, they also have them at the health food store. They are homeopathic and all natural. They dissolve right under the tongue. If my son is inconsolable, i stick one under his tongue and he's asleep in 5 minutes. that's how i know its his teeth bothering him. i don't do it often, but i know i can if i need to!
Reply:think about it like this...when you're mouth hurts (sore gums, sensitive teeth, tooth ache, abscess tooth, do you feel like eating? Also, teething can be a cause of fever, diarrhea, consitpation, ear ache...would you feel like eating then? How do you think you would sleep?
To soothe him, try letting him suck on a frozen washcloth.
Hylands Teething Tablets work wonders...far better than Orajel or Ambesol (there's also a brand called Little Teethers Teething Tablets, but they don't melt as well...could pose as a choking hazard). And baby will most likely glady take it (mine did and she would NEVER take the Orajel or Ambesol...also, with the Orajel and Ambesol, if you use it too often, it causes the gums to harden, which makes the teething process longer and MORE painful in the long run. The tablets don't have that effect. I get the tablets at Babies R Us and Publix.
My daughter also likes frozen carrots, frozen broccoli, frozen cucumber, and frozen celery. This helps her teething and acts as a teething toy, but without the threat of toxic plastic chemicals leeching into her gums.
PLEASE DON'T GIVE ACETAMINOPHEN! (TYLENOL OR PANADOL)
http://www.righthealth.com/search?t=vhea...
An acetaminophen overdose can lead to life-threatening liver and kidney problems.
Acetaminophen overdose is one of the most common poisonings worldwide. People often think that acetaminophen, a pain-relieving medicine, is extremely safe. However, it may be deadly if taken in large doses.
Reply:yes he can have teething tablets and give him a frozen bagel to naw on it helps and feels good to the gums
Reply:when teething, his gums may be swollen, and that cause an uncomfortable feeling on chewing hot food
try to give him food from fridge, so can cool down his uncomfortable feeling
what is orayel? is that teether? u can get him a teether, put in in fridge before give it to the baby
no need any tablet, just give him panadol baby to relief the pain
my doctor said it is safe to give panadol baby quite often (1 - 2 times a day, preferable just once a day) when ur baby is irritated......
Reply:Of course it'll hurt him to eat. I know for mine I would have to try over and over again for him to drink his bottle and eventually he'd take it. When mine was teething, I didn't really like orajel b/c he didn't like the feeling and the flavors grossed him out which led other problems. For his fussiness I used these natural teething pellets that you can find at CVS or Walgreens. I know that they have some for the pain but I haven't been able to find those. Give him something to chew on.

Teething and a rash?
i think my son is teething hes 8.5 months and doesnt have any yet... hes been fussy all this week and yeasterday he got red patches on back and tummy and today they r turning into little bumps.. is it because hes teething?
Teething and a rash?
Theonly rash your little one could possibly get from teething is one around his mouth from the constant drool. Im no professional, but I am guessing the rash on his tummy and back are unrelated. Id consider getting it checked. Good Luck!
Reply:you're son is 8.5 and yes he might be teething or just being silly. but the rash and bumps no. i think he got bit while sleeping in his crib, or crawling on a rug baybe from you're dog if you have one im a baby sitter i have to deal with this all the time. im glade i can help. :)

Teething in 3 1/2 month old?
My son started teething at 2 1/2 months, he is now 3 1/2 and in this time my son sleeps through a few nights then wakes during the next few nights, he has done this for the entire month. Is this how teething works for babies? Are they bothered by their teeth for a few days then fine for the next few?
Teething in 3 1/2 month old?
What makes you think he is teething?
Babies will get drooly %26amp; will chew on their hands whenever they find them, but not necessarily be teething.
His waking could be due to a growth spurt, or just a change in sleep patterns.
Reply:YES, THAT IS HOW IT WORKS FOR SOME. MINE WENT ON AND OFF LIKE THAT FOR A MONTH!
Reply:WAKING IS NOT JUST BECAUSE OF TEETHING HE MAY BE ABOUT TO START SOMETHING NEW LIKE CRAWLING OR STANDING USUALLY WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING NEW THE ARE RESTLESS SLEEPERS IF HE CONTINUES TO WAKE MAYBE TRY CHANGING THE DIRECTION OF HIS CRIB THAT HELPED MY SON ?
Reply:uh sometimes are you sure its teething? becuase babys do that sometimes they just wake up and sometimes they sleep
if your baby is teething try highlands teething tablets they are amazing
Reply:My son started teething around 3 1/2 month also.
One night he woke up every hour on the hour and it was not until a couple of days later I saw the tooth.
When he gets a tooth he's fussy for a few days then fine.

Teething question??
my son is almost 3 months old and he is really fussy and drooling ALOT! is it too early for him to be teething? and when should he start teething?
Teething question??
its no doubt that he is teething my daughter did the same thing suprisingly at the same age. i would try some teething tablets or teething droplets also with teething comes fussiness fevers and sometimes loose stool and occasionally a little bit of vomit but thats perfectly normal with babys but if those dont work i would try a frozen pacifier or teething ring or a popscicle my daughter went through several just let him suck on the popscicle the cold will help sooth his gums. just dont let him bite off a piece also a cold bottle of ice water helps too. good luck!
Reply:NOPE baby's teeth sometimes for MONTHS! Try teething tablets from hylands or teething drops by gentle naturals. Tylenol if he is really fussy. A tooth may not appear for a few more months still so be prepared for that. Also cold symptoms and loose stool may follow
Reply:Your baby is teething. The teeth may not show but he is teething. My baby is always drooling. I have to put a bib on him and give him teething tablets often. His teeth might not come out for months but he his teething.
Reply:This is what our pediatrician told us at 4 months:
1. All babies drool.. regardless if they are teething. Many babies drool a LOT. (my daughter did for 3 months before she ever got a tooth)
2. All babies are fussy.. regardless if they are teething. Most babies are noticeably fussy starting at 3-4 months because they are starting to be aware of their surroundings and notice things that they didnt before (mommy isnt holding me... etc)
3. The number one myth in raising an infant is that if they are drooly and fussy they are teething.
Don't worry about it ;) Yes, he CAN be teething but he may also just be doing a normal baby thing. Again my daughter started drooling, (A LOT) fussing.. acting like she was teething starting at around 3-4 months.. she didnt get her first tooth until she was almost 7 months.
Reply:no my baby started teething @ two months. try orajel and give him something real cold to scratch his gum. a teething ring, rub his gum and give him motrin if he gets a fever; the line close to the bottom. trust me i know

Teething, ear infection? PLEASE help..?
My daughter is 5 and half months old. Starting 2 days ago shes been a bit fussy, she pulls at her hair around her ears, mainly her right one.. She does not pull at her ears though. She drools constantly, she has this little fake cough she does.. cranky, chews on anything she can.. Never finishs her bottles lately.. Always ends up just chewing on the nipple.. My question is at night time, she REFUSES to sleep, she will sleep for a hour, then up crying for the past 2 nights.. like she just cant get comfy, wiggles around..restless...Since she was born, shes slept threw the night, so this is totally new to me.. It seems shes happier during the day kind of then she is at night. Is this normal, ear infection and teething have such common symptoms..I gave her tylenol at midnight last night, didnt seem to help much.. I can feel little bumps on her gums, and her doctor felt them too. Im just confused, ear infection?? or is this normal with teething? THANK YOU
Teething, ear infection? PLEASE help..?
First I feel your pain, I've been there.
Ear infections andrunny stuffy noses are all related to teething so dont worry about it, there is nothing you can do for the ear pain but have patiuence and for the runny nose some saline baby drops might work along with a nasal suction thingy.
Your baby is teething, my son cutted his first front upper and lower 4 when he was only 5 months, what you can do is instead of giving your baby tylenol give her baby motrin (Ibuprofen) it works a whole lot better and faster than acetaminophen (tylenol) it has also been prooved that Tylenol can be harmfull to an infant, if you got for motrin get the dyed free one, trust me it works.
I also sugest that you get teething pills, they run aroun 5 bucks at any store they should be on the baby section where baby meds are and they work almost instantly, there is no limit with those since they are natural ingredients, you can give your baby up to 15 and will also help your baby right away, also there is a gel paste like Orajel called Little Teethers, from Little remedies, those work inmediatly you apply it in your baby's gums and you will notice the change, the little teethers paste doesnt burn like baby orajel does, instead it haves a sweet taste to it but because it numbs baby gums baby might drool a little more.
Since your baby is bitting you should get her s ome teething toys, and i you can get the ones that have water inside (they are sold at walmart as well) get those and keep them in the freezer and whenever your baby starts bitting give her a frozen teething toy this should help refresh her gums when she bites it.
there are lots type of teething toys, from teething rings to teething blankies, etc.
if she refuses to play with the refrigetated ones, get Ice cream and give her a lil bit everyonce in a while the coldness of the treat will also help make her baby gums feel better.
I Hope this lil info helps.. I've been there, my son is only 15 months old and he has all his teeth 20 to be exact.
so i know what you are going thru and get ready cus it only gets worse till they cut the very last ones. also canines are the most painful ones to cut since they are pointy and tend to wear and make the gums more sore than the rest do.
Again, sorry to hear baby is having a hard time, none of us parents like to see our babies go thru that but its just natural.
I almost forgot, sometimes rubbing baby benadryl in baby's gums relaxes them and stop the pain...thats what my sons pediatrician recommended us and it worked!!!
Good luck for you and your baby and hope you get some sleep, since teething babies keep you up all night!!!!

Reply:I'm a mother of 3, This is teething not ear infection, buy her special teething toys that she can chew on when you put her in bed.
Reply:They do get fussy when they teeth and they may pull their ears or hair and if she isn't running a temp then it isn't a bacterial infection of the ears at worst it may be a virus. If it is a viral ear infection it should clear up by itself in a couple of days. Antibiotics are pointless for a virus.
Essentially, at this stage it doesn't matter if it's teething or a virus, the treatment is much the same. Give plenty of fluids and pain meds before she goes to bed. Give her a teething ring to chew and try teething gel on her gums - It works wonders. If it is teeth she will calm down almost immediately after it is applied.
If she isn't better in a couple of days or starts running a fever take her to the doc, but I think she's teething.
Reply:normal teething im afraid! give it time, it will pass. Lots of patience and cuddles..
Reply:My son had an ear infection with almost every tooth he cut when he was a baby...it is very common. Teething question: URGENT?
I just got a puppy exactly one week ago and my mom was wondering when teething ends? The pup just turned 3 months old yesterday, and we have at least 7 chew toys for her! She bites EVERYTHING in sight, unless she is resting. But we need to know when a puppy stops teething. Thanks!

Teething question: URGENT?
Your dog isn't necessarily displaying teething behavior. Puppies at all stages bite, you need training to fix it. You can't always just wait it out.
Reply:The teething hasn't begun yet. She will start to lose her baby teeth soon.
Reply:SImple Answer
"They chew
until there 2"
Reply:It can last from age 5 months to over one year (or longer). Remember to keep it away from dangerous things like electrical cords or appliances that are hooked up. Good luck!
Reply:try getting a wash cloth and drenching it in water (you could add a bit of chicken stock too), then wring it out and put it in the freezer all rolled up. having something cold for the teeth really helps.
teething can last longer for some dogs than others, the best way to tell is to check your dogs mouth and see which teeth still need to come in. on average i would say it lasts a couple months.
also even though your puppy needs to chew, don't be lenient and allow him to chew things he shouldn't. and if he bites you, do the "yelp and shun" to get him to stop.
ADD: oh and the others are right, teething usually doesn't start until 4 - 5 months, and usually the canines at 6 months, and by 8 months they pretty much have all their adult teeth.
Reply:You can soak and freeze nylaropes for her, and conversely, spray stuff you don't want her to chew (like woodwork) with Bitter Apple.
Get a small spray bottle and some icky yellow Listerine to spray on your hands, so you don't have to endure the Bitter Apple - it really does taste terrible!
I hope you're crating this puppy - that is the only surefire way to keep them safe when you're not directly surpervising them
Reply:It all depends on the breed and the size really although most dogs will stop teething around 5 months! She's experiencing exactly the same things as a human baby, the high temperature, the hot cheeks, the very sore gums, maybe the runs, being misreable and snappy, sad eh? Made even sadder because she can't tell you! You can rub some baby formula Bonjela ( a numbing gel for teething human babies ) on her gums plus give her ice cubes to suck - mine loved them when they were going through the agonys of teething, they still love them now in fact when the weathers very hot! Teething doesn't last forever, she's almost over it and you'll be finding her little gnashers all over the place ha ha. She can't help biting things, it does help with the pain and discomfort but try the ice cubes - they were a god send to me and mine. Good luck.

Teething Question?
My 6 1/2 month old has been pretty much crying all morning and chewing on everything. Does anybody Else's baby cry all day when there teething? I have given Tylenol, teething ring and orajel.
Teething Question?
When my son cuts a new tooth he cries all the time and is super fussy, chews on everything in site and has an almost completely wet shirt from all of the drooling. He usually nurses more so i let him as much as he wants to, he doesn't care for teethers but he does have a pacifier that he only ever uses to chew on at home when teething. Also i give him hylands teething tablets during the day when needed, put ice in the mesh feeders or freeze some applesauce and feed it to him and that helps sometimes and then he gets tylenol before bed. Hope your little one feels better soon.
Reply:My baby is 7 1/2 months old and we are going through the same thing right now. She doesn't really cry all day, but she fusses mostly all day. She just wants to nurse all day and be held. I try to put her in the same room as me and just love on her a lot. I mean, I know it's gotta hurt. The Tylenol should kick in pretty soon and start to help a little. If you have a swing, try putting your baby in it. My baby still loves hers and it helps a little. Good Luck.
Reply:I have heard that some babies will run a slight fever, and also get diarrhea when teething....and crying of course! Also, my sister in law also told me that my nephew was very clingy when he began to teethe. Good luck!!
Reply:Luckily my daughter is not bothered by teething but a close friend has a baby who really suffers and she swears my the medicine called Mediced!

Teething question!!?
How long does it take for a tooth to start showing if they are teething? I dont know if my baby is teething or not she is 3 months old. She has all the symptoms but it has been like 3 weeks now and she has no teeth. What do you think?
Teething question!!?
Babies can teeth for weeks even months before a tooth comes through. My oldest started at 5 months will all the signs of getting a tooth yet she didn't get her first tooth until two days before her first birthday, I was ready to call a dentist. My son started at about 2 months with all of it and had four teeth at 3 months. You really can't predict when a tooth will appear. The main thing is to keep the baby comfy. Use frozen wash clothes and teething rings, another thing is frozen waffles. If she is acting like that doesn't help then try tylenol. They also sell a teething tablet at Wal-Mart. It is 100% natural and it helps some.
Reply:Babies can start teething anywhere from 2-3 months before a tooth actually appears. My 9 month old started a t 3 months and his first tooth appeared at 5 months. Something that worked best for us is frozen wet washcloths. Good luck.
Reply:A baby can "Teeth" for Months. It might take a while for the teeth break through.
Reply:It can take quite some time for the tooth to show. My son had all the symptoms for a long time he never really got his tooth in to where i could see it untill he was about 5 or 6 months old.
Reply:For us, it takes too long! lol Our son was around 3 months when he would drool and drool lot's! Then when he got really fussy-it would last probably a whole week, then finally when the tooth broke through, he was okay and happier than ever... then starting it all over again for each tooth. Once his teeth came through, it was like 1 tooth every 2 weeks for the first four teeth- but all children are different. Let's just say he's 1 yr old now, and still teething, and still pretty fussy when it happens! Tylenol is really the only thing that helps for us. But teethers, cold rags, drinking from a glass, all helps a little.
You'll see teeth within the next couple of months at least!
Reply:Each kid is different and some gums are tougher to cut thru. Just keep giving her cool things to chew on, or cold washcloths to suck on. I never used a painkiller with my kid, but others may need some. Check her fever and make sure it is teething and not infection. You can ask her doctor if serious concerns show up.
Reply:she's got the teeth...they just have to break through the gums...which is why she's probably fussy and drooling and crying sometimes...ONCE that first tooth breaks through...the others won't hurt her as much!!

Teething problems?
The problem is that my baby is not even 3 months yet and she is teething and is extremely uncomfortable. I can't give her anything to bite on because she can hardly hold things and manipulate things with her hands to get it in her mouth the right way. She'll get it in but then jerks her hand away and it comes out and that just makes her more frustrated.
I put orajel on her gums, but how many times am I gonna do that.
Is there a something I could give her?
Oh and I try to hold teething toys in her mouth but I think they are too hard for her, she cries out in pain when she bites down on it.
Teething problems?
Have you taken her to the doctor to rule out everything else? When my son was 3 months he was acting as though he was teething as well, I knew he didn't need to eat or be changed or burped etc. I eliminated everything like that, but he was still crying as though he was uncomfortable, he was drooling excessivly and always biting on everything. It turned out that he had an ear infection and thats why he was uncomfortable. It's not unheard of that babies start teething that young, I would just make sure to take her to the doctor first to rule everything out and then try the teething tablets, and tylenol at nighttime to help her feel more comfortable to sleep better. And make sure that you don't put her teething toys in the freezer as they can cause frostbite on her little gums, and be careful with the orajel because it has been known to cause choking if it gets into their throat and numbs their it so they have no gag reflex.
Good luck!
Reply:Tylenol may help a little w/ the pain. She is still too young to have ibuprofen (I believe Dr's say at least 6 mos). You can also get teething pills that will dissolve under her tongue. They worked wonderfully for my daughter. You may also try and let her knaw on a cold, wet wash cloth while you hold her.
Reply:Try Hylands teething tablets (it does not rub off)
Reply:I know it's kind of gross BUT take a clean wash cloth and wet it in bottled water, ring it out, put it in a zip lock bag and in the fridge for like a half hour or so....take it out and put it in her mouth. It's so much softer and cold and wet. My daughter had horrible pain with her gums at that age (even though she is only 14 months now and only has 3 teeth and those three were a b*tch to come in, felt bad for her). But my mom recommended it and I did it to please her and my daughter LOVED IT! It was softer, not as big to get in her little mouth, and just worked perfect! I asked the doctor and she said did the same thing with her girls! She only said to use a white cloth (no dyes then) and she recommended the bottled water because they do suck a little in, and then you know it's safer than tap for her. GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:orajel actually makes the gums tougher so that it's harder for the teeth to come thru.....try rubbing her gums with liquid Tylenol. does she have a pacifier? if so let her teeth on it..

Is it teething or too much depend on pacifier? She used to fall asleep on her own days or nights till 6 months.
on her own and hardly being cranky. After 6.5 months till now (7.5 months), she has been acting cranky almost everyday and through the day. I know she had been teething and I've already seen two buds under her upper gum cutting out. However, I expect her crankiness would be gone away after those two teething cutting out, but it has not. She didn't take any teether but taking her pacifier to relive her teething pain. She refused other form of teethers. She used to fall asleep on her own, but today couldn't without pacifer. My question is if she develop dependency to pacifier already? or it just means new other teeth are cutting out soon and she still has pain? If she is still in teeting pain, I will let her take the pacifier, if not I rather try to limit her pacifier use of break that habit soon. How do I know? (PS, she still chews on her tiny finger sometimes.)
Is it teething or too much depend on pacifier? She used to fall asleep on her own days or nights till 6 months.
She could be getting additional teeth as well...
I think that for a child as young as yours, the pacifier is comforting for them to suck on. I wouldn't take it away, especially if they are teething.
Don't worry about getting rid of it until they are at least 1 year old...mine was 3 when she got rid of hers and it was fairly easy.
Reply:don't break the "habit" too soon. You may end up with a thumb sucker. If the pacifier brings her sore gums comfort, then let her use it. But be the keeper of the pacifier.
My daughter was s"hooked" on her "sucker' until one day when she was trying to say something (maybe 2 years old) and I could not understand her. I said" baby, I cannot understand you with the sucker in your moth, Do you want to throw it away?
She agreed and put it in the trash can herself. We had one tough night, but when we reminded her that she decided to toss it out, she was like" oh......that's right...." and she went to sleep.
Reply:I went through the same thing and my daughter couldn't sleep after that without the pacifier! It's fine now, but try to break her from it soon. I finally had to just take my daughter's away and let her cry herself to sleep. After about 2 or 3 days, she was fine! GL

Teething and feeding apple sause at 3 months?
My son is 3 months old and I think he is teething and my husband feed him applesause, is this bad to feed a baby this at such a young age? And any thoughts about the teething thing, what to do and how to help my little baby.
Teething and feeding apple sause at 3 months?
You should not be giving your baby anything but breast milk before 6 months of age according to the new Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. Babies digestive systems are NOT ready before then, even if baby seems ready. No more solids for 3 months.... or you're increasing the chances of allergies and poor absorption of iron from breast milk. Just breastfeed. It's all your baby needs right now.
Reply:your baby needs just breast milk at this age. start introducing cereals w/your milk and vegies when he is 6 mos.
teething happens anytime. make sure you give him advil for pain and provide cold toys for him to gnaw on. call your pediatrician for more advice.
Reply:4-6 months is the recommeded age to start baby food and most Drs recommend starting with cereal first. Apples have a lot of acid in them and can upset a baby's tummy. There are mixed opinions about which comes after cereal (fruits or veggies) but I have never talked to a dr who recommended anything but cereal to start with. Infant cereal is a safer thing to start with as less babies are allergic to it. The earlier you introduce the food the more the chances of a severe allergic reaction (thats what the dr told me). Some foods must wait until atleast 1 year of age. If your baby is teething no food is going to help that. You might be able to rub some tylenol ( Ibprophen products such as advil and motrin I believe he is still way to young for and may do damage to his poor tummy) or baby orajel on his gums. Give him a teether like you can give him a wash clother that has been wet and put in the freezer, a popcycle (the juice stick ones that you have to push up, forgetting what they are called at the moment lol) unopened, a frozen wet sponge, they have feeder things with netting that you can put fruits and stuff in and I put ice in there and it helps my nephew. There are many things you can do to help him with the pain of teething.
Reply:my daughter ate cereal at 2mos old then after that I started her out on yellow foods like sweet potatoes and squash and carrots but maybe wait on the apple sauce. for teething rub some baby oral gel on his gumes. and if he will let him chew on a cold teether. some baby's go through teething very Early mine daughter started at 3 mos. but try that
Reply:ANY food before 6 months of age has been proven to be unhealthy. It can lead to adulthood obesity and food allergies, as well as cause irregular weight gain and constipation as an infant. Their bodies are not made for anything but their mothers milk (or formula, if you must) until 6 months old. Some docs may say 4 months, but they are not up to date on the information that has recently been learned. Stay away from all foods, despite teething. I know it can get hard, but ALL babies survive it. Stick with teething tablets, oragel, baby tylenol if its really extreme, etc. When your baby is over 6 months old and can hold things, give him jerky. A really tough and plain flavored kind. My daughter LOVED it. She didnt like the cold teether toys because they were TOO cold. The jerky gives them something yummy to gnaw on and it helps the teeth break through faster. Hang in there, and dont resort to feeding your baby food. It could mean a lifetime of health consequences for your child. Good luck!
By the way, when your baby is ready for foods, start with baby cereal. Only introduce one new food every 2 weeks, so you can watch for food allergies. Studies show that it can take up to 13 times of trying a new food for a baby to accept it, so hang in there. After cereal, go to easy to digest veggies. Do meats next, and fruits last. If you start with fruits, you baby may become spoiled by the sweetness and not accept veggies or meats later. You can also mix your baby food with cereal when you are first introducing it, to make it easier on their system.
Reply:Wow if he is teething at 3 months, that is early.
Doctors differ about when to feed something other than formula/breast milk. Because of the severe allergies in my family, I stuck to milk until 6 months.
If your pediatrician agrees, go with applesauce and rice cereal.
Reply:It's probably not likely that your son is teething yet. It's not impossible, but probably not likely. As for the applesauce, you should hold out at least another month. Solids should be introduced between 4-6 months and you should be giving him baby food applesauce or homemade applesauce when he's old enough. Store bought applesauce can contain a lot of extra sugar and other ingredients. Hold off for a little while. His little belly isn't ready for that yet. He is probably just colicy if he seems fussy. If you do truly believe he's teething, buy some Hylund's teething tablets and use Infant Motrin for pain. Don't give him anything cold or frozen to chew on, because this will only cause more blood flow to the area and make it throb which will only put him in more pain. Stay away from Baby Orajel as well, because it will harden the gums and make it more difficult for the tooth to pop through. Just give him a room temperature teething ring. The hardness will be enough to alleviate the pain. I would suggest speaking to his doctor first, though, because he shouldn't be teething for about 3 months still. Good luck and stop the applesauce! This could be making him cranky because it's probably upsetting his stomach.
Reply:I think it is a little too young for feeding solids just yet. You'll know for sure when he starts showing a real interest in what you are eating, at the moment I think he's too young to understand. If he's showing signs in another 6 weeks, then try introducing solids (a teaspoonful a day) but don't replace solids for liquids for quite a few months yet. If he is teething, give him a cold (not frozen) teething ring, my son liked chewing on a face washer. Good luck.
Reply:Applesause? Seriously? at 3 months?
Youre the mother, tell him to stop. His digestive system isnt ready for solids, wait until he tells you that hes ready.
As for teething... nursing helped my son... hylands also healped.

Teething maybe?
Hi, my little boy is 9 nearly 10 weeks old, and i think he ma be teething but is it possible so early. His gums are red and look like there is teeth coming, he is dribbling alot and chewing his hand and dummy and he is also very mardy and hard to get to sleep. He isnt poorly as he has no temperature and i took him the doctors just to make sure so do you think he is teething?
Teething maybe?
It is possible. Babies can grow teeth this early and some I heard are sometimes born with teeth! LOL. But it is very possible but the hard thing about getting them this early is that you can't use Baby Orjal. It is harmful to their stomach. So use some teething rings, cold/frozen washcloths and patience. My son likes when I rub his gums with my finger...but make sure to wash it first.
Best of luck!
Reply:he sure is. his first tooth may not come through for awhile then again it may, this is not that unusual. every child is different so just keep your eye on him and try rubbing the teething gel on his gums and i used to give my son a very cold teething ring to chew on and he liked that. good luck.
Reply:I have twin boys of two years old so yes this does sound like the symptoms of teething however although it is very rare in one so ypung it is not unheard of. this could also be a bad case of oral thrush which babies are prone to. best off asking you health visitor or midwife.
Reply:He's a little young but he's probably teething but the teeth might not come in for some time. My drandaughter is 19 months and only has 4 teeth, we thought she would never get any teeth. All babies are different.

Teething and high fever in 6 mth old neice?
Can cutting teeth cause a 6 mth old to run fevers as high as 102 to 103, for several days.... they took her to e.r. and were told she was teething( checked ears throat etc.. no bloodwork or anything) just told them to give her tylenol and motrin.... this has helped some but the fever is back up high again.... told them they needed to take her to her doc for a recheck but they said they were not worried because a freind told them that she could run as high as 104 when teething
My kids ran some fever but never this high... just wondering
Thanks in advance

Although a low grade fever may not necessarily be unusual during teething, 103 is definitely to high to be it. The parents should see the pediatrician because there may be some other cause for your niece's fever. I guess it could be just a simple virus but there is also the risk of an infection. Hope she feels better!
Reply:Yes it's normal for some babies, they should given her a shot to bring down the fever. Take her to her pediatrician. When my kids ran fevers I would bathe them in cool water (not cold) then give them motrin. Every 4 hours give them motrin again.
Reply:102-103 is not a high fever in an infant. If she were five it would be high. Newborns are highly sensitive to fever, but with infants its a little different. Iam not sure why.
yes, teething does cause fevers. If the fever does not come down with tylenol she should see another doctor. I mean, if its still high even when she has a does in her system.
They should also alternate between acetomeniphen and ibuprophen for babies. They work different and work well in tandem.
At this point, as long as she's not lethargic showing signs of a cold, or trying to sleep constantly, i would give her the tylenol and wait for the teeth to break through.
Reply:I would take her back the last time my son (at 6 months of age) had a 103 fever it spiked to 105 instantly and i had to take him to emergency and they made me put him in a tub of cold water and dump cold water over his head i felt so bad for him.....I wouldnt wait for it to come to this
