My son is 7 months old and being a first time mom, I have no clue wether he is teething or sick! He has been pulling at his ears for like a month now, and I figured that was teething becasue there were no other symptoms. But now as it is turning cold outside and the weather is changing he has a major stuffy nose and sounds very cogested. He is still pulling at his ear, especially after a bath, and I'm hoping it isn't a ear infection! He doesn't have a fever, and so I don't know what it is. I want to wait it out and see but he is being way more fussy than normal and I am just hoping every day that a tooth will pop through and that would be the reason for all this not feeling well. Please share your experiences with babies and teething or sickness. Thank you!
Teething or Sick??
My sister was like that don't worry.
She was teething. Sometimes she had a cold.
Try some baby teething bongela which worked with her. Make sure it is the teething one not the adult one. The adult one can make them ill. Also calpol helps with teething and gripe water.
Good luck =)

Reply:He might have an infection. You should take him to the pediatrician to have him checked out.
Reply:That really sounds like an ear infection to me. But, he might have had an ear infection and gotten sick as well or it could be the combination of an ear infection and the teething. Definitely an ear infection if he's pulling at his ear like that.
Reply:ok, serously sounds like an ear infection. You should have taken him in a long time ago. My son is 16 months and has had at least 10 already. It's possible that if left too long it can rupture his ear drum, or lead to a worse infection. Please take him in right away.
Reply:It really could be both.Teething and an ear infection.I would get him seen to make sure. There are ointments for his gums and tylnol and motrin can help with the pain.Back rubs and rocking him may help as well.He may need an antibiotic for his ears and waiting will not delay his problem if he has one.It won't go away.ear infections rarely do on their own..
Reply:It does sound like an ear infection. And considering his age he is also teething. Since you mention that he is stuffy, go down to the store and pick up some Little Noses decongestant and drop a couple drops in his nose. It will help clear him up. Oh, and grab some Little Noses Saline to soften up any boogies that might have hardened up in there first then take the nose sucker and suck them right out. Then you can drop some decongestant up in there and he will be able to breath. Also, pick up some baby Vick's vapor rub and that will help loosen up the phlegm in his chest. For his teeth, pick up some infants Tylenol. BUT make a doctors appointment. They will prescribe you an antibiotic to clear everything up. All of my suggestions will just keep your little guy comfortable until he sees the doctor. I hope this helps. Good luck!
Reply:They don't always get a fever with an ear infection. With your son pulling at the one ear, being fussy and no signs of an actual tooth yet I really don't think wait and see is the right approach anymore. Especially if he has been pulling at his ear over a month. If left too long an ear infection can cause the ear drum to rupture, which could cause hearing damage and it is quite painful. It is worth it to call his pediatrician and try to get him seen.
Reply:He could have an infection, but it also sounds like teething. Have you pressed on his ear to see if it hurts? You need to get him looked at just to rule out an infection.
