Teething? Something else? My usually very happy baby has not let me put him down all day. If I do he starts?

bawling, screaming, and tears start even streaming down his face (i've never even seen him do this before!) I can't tell if it is teeth or something else. He doesnt have a temperature and he has drooled for as long as I can remember. Anything else you can think of? If he is teething, what's the best thing for him besides teething rings? I don't have any orgel for tonight so, that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Hylands teething tabs- everyone I know that has used them has loved them- they are homeopathic and completly safe and effective
Reply:Is he chewing on his fingers?

It won't help tonight, but a friend of mine had the same issue. She swears by Gripe Water.
Reply:Do you have any other pain relief for babies? Like the liquid paracetamol we have in the UK? It wouldn't do any harm.

It could be many things - change in routine, separation anxiety, he may be coming down with a cold even but not showing it yet. Or it may simply be that he's discovered that if he does this, he gets to be held close and that is what he wants today. He may have a tummy ache, or a pain somewhere else that you can't see. I assume he's on solids now? Is he having a growth spurt and hungrier than usual?

My son is clingy and tearful a day or two before some virus or other appears. He's 5 now and its still a good indicator that he's off-colour.

It makes for a tiring day and probably night too. Keep comforting and cuddling and he should get through it.
Reply:I bet he is teething. Give him some type of pain reliever and then make a bottle with ice and some juice or water or both. The cold really helps and sometimes my son would just sorta play with it because it was cold and helped. Just hold him and comfort him through this, it will be like this for a while. My youngest gets really bad when teething and so I have come up with little ways to help him. I will tell you though that some days I never get up because he is only happy when I hold him when he is teething, Good luck and hope he feels better soon.
Reply:Until you can get to the store and buy teething tablets- they dissolve in his mouth, popsicles, really cold wash cloth to chew on, if he's nursing? you. Infant Tylenol is helpful but can't be used long term.
