My son is 4 months old and has a tooth thats already broke through, last nigh he got a temp of 101, i was just wondering if anyone knew if that was from teething or something else, what is a normal temp for teething
TEETHING question?
There is nothing really normal........they could get a fever.....or diarrhea...diaper rash.....rash on the cheeks from the drooling....or no symptoms at all...
I would say to monitor it......and if it continues you should give your doctor a call just to make sure.....but definitely give him tylenol or tempra to bring down the fever......
And monitor it for any other symptoms as well just in case it's not teething related.
Reply:It is normal to get fevers from teething. Does he have a cold or any other signs??? If not it probley is just teething give him tylonal to cope with pain and bring down the fever.
Reply:he could have anoher tooth coming there is no text book temp another sign of teething is red cheeks not eating
Reply:not sure, but you can always tell when they are teething, you could keep his temperature down with calpol, dont use too many layers of clothing... CONTACT YOUR HEALTH VISITOR and be on the look out for signs of other things.. be especially vigilant for meningitis. Good luck
Reply:Teething WILL increase the chances of getting a temperature, and while there are some babies that breeze through teething with no side effects at all, others suffer terribly. If you doubt that the temperature has been caused by teething, take him to the doctors.
Give him some Calpol, that will help him.
Reply:It is quite common to run a low grade fever when teething, however call his pediatrician and see how high of a fever is normal, or look it up online.
Reply:That sounds normal but you need to watch for other signs of illness to be really sure. Some babies also have cold like symptoms when they teethe (runny or stuffy nose etc). Congratulations !
Reply:anything, over 101 you should worry about, teething yes it is possible for him to run a fever, its possible for him to have diahrrea, its possible for him to be cranky, give him a little bit of infants tylenol and he should be fine...
Reply:Its perfectly normal.... wow 4 months and a tooth... he's becoming a little man... so cute... good luck mommy...
Reply:Defeniatley! My daughter threw up and had fevers only when she was teething....just before the tooth broke through
Reply:that is normal. Give him baby Tylenol and he will be OK. Keep giving him water for he may get dehydrated. I have a 11year old daughter and 4 God daughters and I coached both their mother's birth. So i have helped raise all of them since birth. It has happened like that with each of them. (Their mother panicked too). Don't worry. You are doing good. He will be fussy and irritable but that is part of it too.
Get him a teething ring that you can put in the freezer so that he can bite on it. If he doesn't bit on it just rub it across his gums and he will love you for it. Stay calm also cause the more you get upset the more he will too. You will be surprised at how much they feel what we feel. He can tell when mommy is not happy and then he will think that he caused you pain. My daughter told me that when she was 4 years old when she came to hug me and comfort me ( I didn't know she knew I was stressed).
He will have a fever with the first few teeth break through after that he and you will be a pro at it.
Reply:temps from teething can vary my children always get high temps while teething he may also be cranky his ears may be hurting along with drooling and having trouble eating. Tylenol is usually ok to give ckeck with doctor first though! Hope he feels better soon.
Reply:If he doesnt have any other signs of sickness, and he got the fever as the tooth was cutting thru, then its most likely from teething. Just make sure it doesnt get any higher as it can be dangerous if it does. Give him tylenol to bring the fever down and help cope with teething pain. If he has another coming thru that is giving him fits I found that a cold butter knife rubbed on the gums gently will help it break thru painlessly. You can also put baby orajel on there to help with the pain. Get used to it, you have a mouthful to come, lol
Reply:its very normal 2 have a fever when teething and 2 have a snotty nose 2 and just give him a teething ring freeze it is what we did and he will suck on it and at night and through the day give him some motrin thats better then tylenol and a little anbesol for babies will fix him right up!!
Reply:My daughter has gotten a slight fever with teething before. If it's not any higher, and otherwise he is fine, that's probably what it is. At that age, when my daughter had a real fever from something going around, not related to teething, she was more pale than usual and she wasn't interested in eating much. Give him some of the infant Tylenol, and keep an eye on his temp. If it goes any higher, or continues for more than a day or two even with the Tylenol, I would call the doctor.
Reply:thats normal. thank god my son hasnt had any fevers. but he has six already and hes only nine months. but tylenol is a life saver!
Reply:i am sure it is just from teething. My 10 month old daughter had a temp of 101.7 when she was teething and I called the nurse and she told me that unless the temp is over 102 they can't do anything.
