Question about teething?

How long does teething last? I know that the actual teething process takes a couple years, but how long does each period last?

My son is 6 months old and his first tooth has just cut through the surface, but not all the way here yet.

I guess my question is, once this tooth comes through will we have a bit of peace? His teething has been really bad lately and I'm hoping it will settle down for a bit before the next one comes through. Are we just in for more teething now while we wait for the others?

Question about teething?
That was only the beginning!! When one start then all of them will start. I am still experience it with my 1 old daughter she half way done thought. I know how you feel and what you are going through. Good luck.
Reply:dont plan on it once they start they keep going good luck and it will get better i promise hang in there
Reply:You really cannot say. It's different with each child and each tooth. Sometimes a tooth pops through in a day, sometimes it takes WEEKS. Two teeth ago my daughter got one tooth and the tooth on the opposite side (they come in pairs) took 3 weeks to come through! With her first tooth it came through then the other one came through in about a week.
Reply:Yes Because normally when the first tooth comes in that means alot more is coming in right be hind that one. My son is 8 months and don't have 1 tooth yet but you can see them sitting on the edge. So I bought him a teething blanket. And this works well with him. It has four different textures of plastic ends and he chew on all four ends and be very content. So maybe you should try it I got it from wal-mart.
Reply:With my daughter it takes about 3 to 4 weeks for another one to come out she now has 4 teeth and is working on her 5th tooth and might be a 6th following in suit later : )
Reply:my parents rubbed JACK on my babies gums and it soothed her every night. she went to sleep and slept all night and everything. teething tablets didn't work teething ring orajel nothing!! but that did!! she was manageable through out the day!! all of it!! she is 2 now and her back back teeth are coming in i give her cookies now!!
Reply:Hi

I have yet to go through this with my baby but I remember my sister`s trick was to put a soother (pacifier) in the freezer and then when its really cold let them have it. Anything cold may help while they`re teething (for them to bite down on). I remember this phase lasted a while and her kids all had various complaints (fever, fussiness, no sleeping etc etc).

good luck to you
