Is it just teething?

My nearly 4 month old daughter has been teething for over a month now. I have to give her tylenol atleast 2-3 times a day. She JUST started having a fever today and she seems to have started flu like symptoms within the last couple of days. Stuffy nose, raspy cry, fever, drooling, etc. When should I start being concerned that maybe its something more than just teething? When she had her 3 month check up, I told the doc. that she had been teething for awhile already. He thought maybe she just had an ear infection, but after inspecting every option, he agreed, she is teething. But there are no signs of teeth, not even little buds about to pop through! NOTHING! Should I just let her do her thing as long as she is healthy or should I have her checked again? HELP! What are some other techniques I could use to ease her teething pain. Tylenol seems to work for awhile but its the waiting for it to work that kills her. And ice in a rag is too cold. She wont do it!! THANKS!!

Is it just teething?
sounds like teething to me. they teeth way before teeth pop up. we use a baby safe feeder for ice. she gnaws on it %26amp; it helps. teething rings kind of help. we found that Hylands teething tabs were a GODSEND! omg...they would knock her out. they say that the babies fall asleep because the teething tabs take away the pain %26amp; they can rest.

also, infant motrin, and those popsicles that come in the clear packages with the liquid in them that you can freeze. my daughter is almost 2 and still teething. when we go grocery shopping, she usually chews on the hot dogs or the bags of frozen veggies...lol.

Reply:If she is having symptoms then it is not just teething. any symptoms that involve the flu or a cold she needs to go to a doctor to get treated. Teething also takes awhile for teeth to pop up. Also alternate between tylenol and motrin. I know my daughter reacts better with motrin and it takes her fevers away faster then tylenol. just get a warm wash cloth and let her chew on that. use teething toys and rub your finger on her gums also. Helps relieve the pressure.
Reply:Take her back to the doctor. It only takes a day or two for an infection to turn into one. One day may be clear, the next day something new. It won't hurt to double check. I ended up taking my son in twice when he was about that age just to make sure it wasn't something more. Both times he was clear, and I had the peace of mind of knowing he was alright. Its worth the bother. Plus if there is something going on, it will just continue to get worse until she gets medicine. As far as teething, her age makes it tough. Most will tell you to use damp wash clothes cooled by the refridgerator. Ask if you can give her teething tablets at her age, I didn't use those until my son was older - but it can help some kids.
Reply:Call your doctor just incase. My 14 week old daughter is teething, and she has a slight fever, cough, all of that fun stuff. I took her to the doctor and they said it was from the teething because she was not congetsted in her lungs and everything. Tylenol is the only thing that helps my daughter, but since the fever is gone, I give it to her before bed to help her sleep.
Reply:Please go get your daughter checked out by a doctor.

And to ease teething pain, try a bagel in the freezer. It may not be as cold as ice in a rag.
