Teething or Not Teething?

My baby is only 4 months but she constatntly sticks her hands in her mouth. Last week she cried so much that I got scared and took her to the doctor and he said she was perfectly fine. I know its not colic. So does this mean that she could be teething? She does not have a faver or any sign of teething. What is it?

Teething or Not Teething?
She could be teething. Is she drooling a lot? If she is its a sign of teething. My son just made 5 months and he's teething. He's slightly more fussy at times, always sticking his hand in his mouth and drooling plenty. It honestly sounds as if your baby is teething. If you want you can try and put baby anbesol or oralgel on her gums, I do that with mines and it helps. If she has a fever that is another sign. My mother-in-law would tell me to feel his gums and sometimes you can feel the teeth. Hopefully this helps you a little..Take Care..
Reply:It could be a lot of things, but teething is the most likely. They'll start feeling it before you can see the teeth breaking through. My son got 4 teeth at 4 mo old, so I know it's possible for them to teethe that early!
Reply:She has every sign of teething. Chewing on her hands and crying is part of teething.

My son started teething at 3.5 months, and just now got his teeth in at 7 months.

Get some orajel and chew toys.
Reply:is she drooling alot.....some babies get feverish and get diarrhea others lose their appetite there are alot of ways to distinguish. my baby chews on everything every time he gets a new tooth.....feel her gums for any type of bumps when u find the tooth you will know it..... try this site it helped me alot www.babycenter.com
Reply:It could very well be teething. There are babies born with teeth.

My kids both got two top teeth at 5 months, so it's close if it's not teething. It won't hurt to give her something safe to chew on.

Good luck.
Reply:It looks like she is teething, and fever is not a sign for it. Actually, when baby has a fever it means the baby is sick or has an infection, when baby is teething there is no fever,. When baby is teething she is sticks her hands in the mouth and will be fussy and cry a lot.
Reply:I'm proud to tell you my daughter has been the same way. Yesterday I saw her gums a little red and felt them, yes, she has her very first tooth coming out already it already broke out from the gums! She's 3 months, 3 weeks old! She's been drooling since I can remember! Good luck!
