my daughter is already teething at 3 1/2 months is this normal? and she has diarrhea, diaper rash, fever, red cheeks is this associtated with teething?
Teething at 3 1/2 months ?
Thats all very normal. I got my first tooth at 2 months old, my daughter got hers at 3 months, and my friends baby is cutting her first tooth at one month. The symptoms that you described are typical, but make sure the fever doesnt get too high. Ask your doc at what temp you should call him, just in case. When your baby gets old enough to hold things, I recommend a mild flavored, tough jerky. The gnawing helps cut the teeth in faster, and relieves the pain. Plus, unlike plastic teething rings, it tastes good and isnt too cold, so your baby will want to chew on it longer. Make sure the jerky is tough, and replace it with a new piece when it starts to fall apart.
Reply:yep, my son is 3 1/2 months and he is teething like crazy!!! red cheeks, fever, are usual symptoms. You might want to see if what you are feeding her is causing diarrhea and diaper rash, but I'm sure nothing to worry about. And always if you are worried call the baby doc and ask
Reply:it can happen. my son started showing symptoms of teething around that age. he's now almost eight months and his teeth (two bottom front) finally poked through a couple weeks ago. good luck!!
Reply:Well honestly i have never heard of a baby teething that young..but i am sure itns' known to happen and yes all those signs are associtated with teething..well i know mine was..INFANTS ADVIL worked wonders on my child...
Reply:yes it can happen. my daughter got her first tooth at 4 months, and all those other problems are deffinatly associated with teething, good luck
Reply:yep, my son started before 3 1/2 weeks
Reply:my daughter started teehing at 2 1/2 months but none of the other symptoms you might need to take her to a docter
Reply:yeah my son was 2½ - 3 months when he had his first tooth
Reply:Teething can start at 2 weeks of age, some babies are born with teeth, so 3 1/2 months is normal. Mine actually never had the diarrhea and alll the other related symptoms, but each baby is different. It is a drooly mess that never stopped even after mine got her teeth in. Good luck and watch out when they stick your fingers in their mouth, those little teeth are sharp!
Reply:My kids teethed before that. They also got bad diaper rash from it and the occasional fever. All withing the normal range, don't worry.
Good luck!
Reply:yeah it is completely normal...dr.'s will tell you they can't but it happens all the time...I did it and my goddaughter did it...so don't worry...if she acts like she is a lot of pain you can give her like half a dose of baby tylenol and it will help her a lot.
Reply:Yes, i have 4 children. 2 of my 4 had 8 teeth by the time they were 6 months old. my oldest son on the other hand didn't start teething until he was 13 months old. All children are different.
All 4 of my kids were cranky, ran a 99-102 fever while teething. Red cheeks is probably just from the fever. Diaper rash is common with diarreah. Symptoms usually go away in about a week. If your baby has more than 3-4 diarreah's a day I would take him/her to the doctor. They easily dehydrate at that age.
Hope it helps
Only give fever reducer when nec. your baby is young to give it just for crankiness or discomfort. You can also give them a cool wet rag to suck on. I know it sounds nasty but they are really too young for teething rings %26amp; frozen teethers.
Reply:Yes, it is normal. My daughter was teething that young. Babies teeth for a month or 2 before the actual tooth erupts. All these symptoms are very normal and can be associated with teething. Has the tooth already erupted? My daughter came in very quickly. One right after the other. She had two by the time she turned six months. The red cheeks also could be a sign of exzema. My daughter started this at 4 months also. I hope I have been helpful. E-mail me a janinebat@msn.com if you have any questions. Good luck.
Reply:Some kids are born with teeth, actually. One of mine had a first tooth at two months. By six months, she had 12. And I know another kid who had no teeth at all until she was 15 months old. There's a huge window considered "normal" when it comes to teething.
Some pediatricians will tell you that teething doesn't cause any of that stuff, and others will say that it's all related. All I know is that my kids experienced all of that stuff during the period they were teething. There was definitely a correllation, even if I can't tell you that it was CAUSED by teething.
But the diaper rash is likely caused by the diarrhea, and you can treat that. The rest of it, you likely just have to tough it out.
With your pediatrician's OK, you can make your baby more comfortable with Tylenol or Motrin. Motrin works better and lasts longer, but you can alternate the two (i.e. a dose of one at 12, a dose of the other at 3, and then the first again at 6) for a few days to minimize the pain.
Our pediatrician said to stay away from stuff like Orajel. She said it doesn't last long at all to control the pain, that most of it washes right off, and that it can upset your baby's stomach and add to her distress.
Something cold to chew on is best. A wet washcloth works well.
Reply:Poor little thing. Its a good thing that we don't remember being a baby !! All the diaper rash, shots, teething and for alot of baby boys, circumcising !!!
I freeze clean damp wash clothes or give my grand baby cool pops that are UN-opened.Finding the prefect teething ring is next to impossible!! My grand baby likes my nylon eye glass fob. What can i do, it makes her happy so i let her chew..GOOD LUCK with your baby..And remember This too shall pass...
Reply:perfectly normal. if she has fever etc, justt give her some baby tylenol or advil. some things that helped my kids were cold teething rings, and clove oil( cut it with regular veggie oils NOT peanut oil), Just rub it on her gums it will numb them. anbesol was ok but clove oil was better
good luck!
Reply:Yes my baby girl started at 3 months, and diarrhea, diaper rash, fever, all those things have to do with teething. Just be shure to give her pedialyte, for her diarrhea and Tylenol for her fever, and she will be just fine. It is frusting but it is ok.
Reply:my daughter got her first two teeth at three months. it can cause alot of other symptoms like the fever but not the diaper rash or diarrhea. you should go to the dr for the diarrhea and get cream for the rash. give her pedialyte till you get there. it helps the dehyration caused by diarrhea and should mellow the fever some. also try rubbing infant tylenol on her gum for teething pain and irratability. get dye free, trust me. teeth pain changes eating habits also so that might explain the diarrhea but i wouldn't chance it if its real bad or it persists. but baby poop is usually a litttle runny. fyi
Reply:it is definately normal to teeth at this time. I think most babies get their first tooth around 4-6 months. some babies are even strangely born with teeth! Anyhow, crankiness and fever are all VERY common symptoms of teething. diarrhea is as well, which can irritate her skin and cause diaper rash. The best thing you can do for her is give her tylenol for the fever and discomfort and give her a cold wash cloth to just chew and such on. depending on the child, she may want her gums rubbed. Howeer- DO NOT use baby orajel bc it has alcohol in it which can irritate the gums if a tooth has broke it open. Just tylenol! Also, for the diaper rash, use Aquafor... it is WONDERFUL!
Good luck!
Reply:I thought my baby was teething at that age, he's 5 months old now and I still haven't seen a tooth. He had alot of the symptoms you mentioned. You may want to keep an eye on him, my son had alot of diarrhea and then it had some blood in it, some how he had gotten a bacterial infection and Rotovirus at the same time.
Reply:if you go to the store and get baby oral gel, it states that teething does not consist of any symptoms. if so to contact a doctor. plus if you get oral gel dont use for more than 7 days. i have a 4 month old as well, and just brought some oral gel.
good luck
Reply:Yes...my baby brother cut his first tooth at 3 months so it is normal/possible.
Reply:thats totaly normal,my daughter has been teething since she was just about 3 months, she's now almost 5 months and has 4 teeth....
