Teething at 6 weeks?

My son is 6 weeks old and he has been so fussy these past few days. At first I thought it was just the heat but it hasn't been as hot lately. I noticed that his two bottom teeth are coming in. Now he has a heat rash could this be from teething? Nothing is seeming to help his pain also. Ive been giving him baby acetametophin (sp) every 5-6 hours, using teething rings, and gum massagers. He isn't eating much, and I'm breastfeeding, but it seems as if he wont latch onto me and he just screams when I try to feed him. He will latch onto the bottle, but it seems as if he just wants to chew on the nipple. He is eating some from the bottle, but not from me. Should I be worried about it?

I can't get into my doctor until next week. I know i asked a lot of random questions but I have so many, and I'm so sleep deprived that I know im not making any sense lol Please any advice from experienced moms is great

Teething at 6 weeks?
Oh my! Im so sorry you have to deal with this so early in his little life! My son started early at 11 weeks and it was hard enough. He is 6 months old now and his first tooth just came in. Your son must have come out teething! Its normal for them to be fussy when they eat. I called the doctor many times about it because I was worried. He said that they will take a bottle easier because it does'nt hurt their mouth as much. You can pump for him for a few weeks if you need to. Its sucks because he is too young to know how to use a teething ring or pretty much anything to relieve his pain. Maybe you could try to use the baby orajel but just a little and try to get it just where the teeth are because it is really strong and he wont ba able to feel to swallow if you use too much. Good luck!
Reply:I am a mother of one with one on the way. My son was acting like he was teething about the same age...the teeth eventually went back down and then didn't reappear until he was about 4 months old. It may help to get a wash cloth wet and put it in the freezer for about a half hour and let him chew on that before you try to nurse him. this will help numb the area so that he will be able to really eat. Also you can give your child the reccommended amount of tylenol every 4 hours.
Reply:My daughter is 6 weeks old and doing the same thing, she cries and chews on her bottle constantly but has stopped eating as much at one feeding. She now wants to eat an ounce every hour or so and chew the nipple. She will not take a pacifier and when I take the bottle out she screams. She has been to the dr. and there is absolutely nothing wrong with her and he checked her gums and didn't see anyhitng. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but I honestly thing she is getting a tooth this early also.
