Teething Question?

My son is almost 8 months old, and still has no teeth. I'm not concerned about that, he just seems to be having a very hard time with it. When he was 6 weeks old, the doctor confirmed he was teething because we could both see his bottom teeth coming through. Now, he still has none. I can feel lots of bumps in his mouth, and he gets cranky, but then like a few hours later, they're gone and he's fine. This has been going on for a few months now off and on. He has no other symptoms such as excessive drooling, or fever. I'm just wondering if maybe there is anything to be concerned with since it's been going on for so long and they haven't broke through yet. Last night and the night before he woke up screaming from what I assume was teething pain, but with no other symptoms it's hard to be sure. I don't want to give him tylenol unless he really needs it, but it did seem to work in the case last night..any tips?

Teething Question?
Both of my kids were 11 months before they got their first teeth, and they both did the same thing yours is doing. It is like those teeth would play hide and go seek!! The first ones are always the hardest. After my son got his first 2, I never knew when he was teething on the others! They sell teething tablets that are WONDERFUL. They are all natural and you just rub them on their gums. I forget the name, but you can find them anywhere in the baby isle.
Reply:Hun teething is awful and my Mum is a dentist and she said that it is quite common for them to cause a lot of discomfort before they make an appearance. There is nothing to worry about, the teeth will just come when they are ready.
Reply:Sometimes it takes a few months for teh first ones. : Poor little baby! My first born was walkign before she actually had teeth even though I swear she teethed from the day she was born. My second baby started at a few weeks and finally cut one at about your sons age. My third started teething at about the same age your baby did but she's only 11 weeks now, so it will be a while. She is drooling EVERYwhere already.
Reply:try some ora- gel to see if it helps relieve the pain. it can take forever or they just suddenly pop through. my doctor also suggested to let her chew on a wet washcloth (not freexing but cool), or you could buy one of those teething things you put in the fridge. she loves it even when its not cold. with my baby's first two teeth she was cranky, drooling, pooping, and had a runny nose. she just popped another one and i had NO idea. she had no symptoms at all this time. good luck!
Reply:It can range from a few days to a few months of pain before a baby's teeth pop through! I usually use the infant tylenol for the pain, and also baby orajel. We also keep teethers in just about every room in the house, and one in the car (my son is having a miserable time with his teething). Some people also give baby a cold washcloth to chew on :)
Reply:At most drug stores and grocery stores you can buy homiopathic teething tablets. They are safe it sounds like they will probably break through real soon. I have a 13 month old who only has 4 teeth and he was around 8 months old when they came through.
