Is it teething or is it the result of the vaccination?

We took my son to get a chicken pox vaccine (just one shot at a time) and he was fine heathly and happy, then that nighthe started a fever and the next morning it sounded like he had a sore throat, and he had a stuff nose too. We then noticed some of his back teeth are coming in and know that he always gets crazy fevers when hes teething, but were not sure if he contracted anything from the vaccine. is he contagious, is he sick or is he just teething? We moved here recently and we dont have a doctor yet so i cant just rush him in somewhere. Hes also been waking up screaming bloody murder, very restless at night, he flops around and does somersaults all over the place in his sleep. He wont eat for my husband, he will only eat if im holding him and his bottle. the other day he hardly ate anything, although he was showing interest in everything we ate. He would even try to bite things, cringe and make a funny face and spit it out. I think its his teething but if you have any ideas, thanks

Sounds like teething, but if you are really concerned, seeing as you dont have a doctor yet, take him to the ER.
Reply:i think he's teething. my 5 month old has 2 teeth and is working on his 3rd. i found these little things that are better than oragel and they make him fall asleep too! it's Hylands Homeopathic Teething Tablets. about $5 a bottle at wal mart or walgreens. they work great. mix with a tiny bit of juice and water. good luck!
Reply:It seems like he's teething but having had the shot has probably irritated him and made him more moody. My suggestion would be to give him tylenol every 4 hours during the day and motrin every 8 at night. If that helps then he's just teething.
Reply:It sounds like teething, I feel your pain my son is getting some new teeth in as well and Ive had several sleepless nights here lately. But the shots can also cause your little one to run a fever. When you put him to bed give him the right dosage of motrin and put some orajel on his teeth it doesnt last very long but maybe it will help him sleep better and you 2 :)
Reply:It could be teething, but natural teething should not cause fevers... that could be the result of on infection, virus, or some other sickness. Teething is just supposed to cause irritability. I would consult an MD. If u feel their answer is not good enough then try another MD.
Reply:That's a tough one. It could def. be teething. Or he could be teething AND getting a cold too (I'm thinking that cause of the runny nose and sore throat you mentioned). Obviously you'll take him to a doc as soon as you can find one but I would watch for signs of a developing cold or flu as well as teething symptoms. Good luck.
