Teething info...?

My daughter is six months now, expecting her to start teething sometime soon. I know all babies are different but I'm just trying to prepare myself for this! How do you tell if they are teething? What will their gums look like? I asked my mom and she tried to get a peek at my daughter's gums, but the little goofball kept sticking her tongue out and laughing! So I thought - Hey! I'll just ask the moms on Yahoo! :) Any advice or information you can give me will be very helpful - thank you all in advance!

Teething info...?
She may start biting or chewing on stuff. She'll probably seem more grumpy than usual. There may be some redness or white bumps on her gums.

Hyland's Teething Tablets are one of the best teething remedys out there. They dissolve in the mouth immediately, so there is no worry of choking.

Good teethers:

I think most of the teething toys you can buy at the store stink. The best teethers I've found are -

- metal spoon that's been kept in the freezer

- stick of cold, hard celery

- ice cube or "boob cube" in a baby safe feeder or tied in a baby sock

- wet washrag that has been frozen
Reply:I alwasy found celery to be the BEST teether. It's cold and hard and can reach absolutely anywhere in their mouth that hurts. Many of the teething toys can only reach the front teeth. Report It

Reply:Sorry, didnt read the question but you a hottie, lol.
Reply:If you can get your finger in there you'll feel them start to feel hard.

Stock up on Ora-Jel now, so you have it when you need it and won't be making a drug store run in the middle of the night.
Reply:She will slobber alot more than usual and her gums will be swollen and inflamed. But if you go to your local grocery store and get her some toddler cookies then she should have no trouble getting them. I know my little girl didn't.
Reply:My 3 month old is starting to teeth. She started about 2 weeks ago. How I knew was the constant drooling! It clicked in my head that it could have been teeth so I stuck my finger in her mouth and rubbed her gums and felt little bumps. From then on, the drooling has since left puddles, the bumps have swollen bigger and she chews on EVERYTHING! When she starts whining, I hold up my finger and she grabs it, shoves it in her mouth and chews away the pain. Watch for drooling...that will probably be your first indication along with her putting things in her mouth! Good luck!!!
Reply:they may get some pains and loose motion also ,

some may not bget .they feel like biting some thing other ,not to worry at all.
Reply:most babys are ill! but there gums will be red and knoty! you will know!
Reply:Mine started teething after his 1st birthday, so it is pretty late for my monkey. I bought teething toys and gel but he hates them. So did nothing special about his teething. When he teeths, he got slightly cranky and had diarrhoea.
Reply:he is sick duh go to the doctor
Reply:My daughter just turned 8 weeks and is now teething! She drools a lot, chews on everything, sticks fingers and hands in mouth, and she loves the wet washcloth. You put your finger around a cold wet cloth, stick it in her mouth and she will love it. Someone told me teething tablets too and I did that with my first and it worked like a charm. 6 months is a good age to start, my son was 5 months and gave him some teething tablets that disolve really quick. Ignore Babyblu she was a witch to me too.
Reply:She will try to put her little fist in her mouth so she can chew down on it or anything she can get in her mouth..Best thing to do is to buy a teething rings and these help her and there is also some stuff you can rub on her gums...but the best remedy for teething pain and this is when they are crying cuz he hurts is to take some whiskey on your finger and rub it on her little gum and she will feel better instantly..and No this will not make her drunk it is just strong enough to take away the pain
Reply:Teething tablets and a very cold wash clothe to chew on. This works really good!!
Reply:You'll just notice little (or very loud if it's screams) things, red cheeks, putting fingers and toys in her mouth to chomp on, loads of dribbling.

Sometimes they just appear by themselves without too much pain but then again they can make for a lot of sleepless nights. There's loads you can try, get some teether toys in and clean just in case, you can get Calgel to soothe them too. You'll know this anyway, but just make sure if she's using teething toys they have been cleaned thoroughly and check which ones can go in hot sterilisers and which have to be cold water sterilising (if you get them mixed up it can leave a bit of a mess in the steriliser...trust me!)

Good luck, hope she keeps smiling.
