Teething chocolate lab?

I have a 3 month old chocolate lab. He is good but he will bite anything he sees. I am sure this has to do with teething. Does anyone know about the age a chocolate lab will stop teething? Thanks

Teething chocolate lab?
I have a 7 month old golden Retriever and he's still chewing on things. Not bad things but he still likes to chew. All Retrievers like to chew!

I'd find something he really likes to chew on and get a few of them.

For teething pups I like to wet a hand towel ring it out and roll it up and pop it into the freezer. Let it get nice and frozen then give it to the pup to chew on. They love it because it not only helps their sore gums but also helpt their teeth pop through. rince it out and re freeze. I did a few of the towels at a time.
Reply:Yep, I have a teething beagle.

Go to the pet store and get those chew things that are made for dogs. Be certain to ask them which will last the longest. My dog will o through some ofthose things in a half a second and looks at me for more.
Reply:i dont know when they stop teething, but in the meantime, you could try getting him some toys to play with and chew on. you could also get these dog treats called Greenies, they are really chewy, and they are good for them. good luck!
Reply:I would talk with your vet about whether your dog is still teething or whether it might be behavior---just to be sure. I would suggest buying a dog toy called a "Kong" for your puppy. They are good for chewing and safe. I've also heard you can put peanut butter or other healthy food ideas inside to keep them occupied with it. Check out http://www.kongcompany.com/ You can find them at your pet store.
Reply:My dog stopped around 4 months, i got bitter apple spray so she wouldn't chew on anything she wasn't supposed to (cords, cabinets, etc). It worked great. I got a lot of soft toys for her cause she perferred to chew on those, and of course i had to throw them away once her adult teeth came in and she could tear things apart. Ice cubes are good too.
Reply:They have puppy kongs for teething or you can take a dish towel wet it with water (and maybe even a little chicken or beef broth) twist it up and put it in the freezer, when frozen give to puppy to help sooth gums. I can't remember how long it took my dog to teeth but the important thing is to teach him to bit toys not other things.
Reply:Puppies usually lose all their baby teeth between about 4 and 6 months of age. Their last 'big teeth' come in at about 6 months old.

You're partly right that your puppy's constant biting and chewing is related to teething. It helps his sore gums to bite down on things. Get him plenty of sturdy, chew toys to play with. A Kong stuffed with peanut butter and frozen overnight (or for a few hours) has tons of play value, and the cold helps soothe his gums too.

You can buy special toys that you put in the freezer or refrigerator as well. Or wet a small towel, squeeze it until almost dry, and freeze it (as with the Kong). It's a bit softer than the rubber, and puppies usually really enjoy chewing on the cold fabric.

Biting is also a dominant/attention seeking behavior though. It's very normal for puppies to nip, bite and mouth your hands, arms, shoes, pants etc. but it's a behavior that you want to stop. Puppy teeth are surprisingly sharp and can really hurt, but if a puppy doesn't learn not to bite, you'll find an adult set of teeth will do a lot more damage!

For lots of free tips and advice on dealing with chewing and biting (two separate behaviors) see the webpages below. Best of luck!
