My son is 7 months old, he already has his bottom 2 teeth. This last week he has started teething with his top ones. For the last 2 days the only thing I have been able to get him to eat is his formula. I usually have issues with him and baby food on a good but usually I could always get him to at least eat fruit, but not the last 2 days. Could he be refuisng to eat due to his teeth? Is this normal? The first 2 teeth were an issue getting them in but they were nothing like the new teeth. Also those teething things that you put in the refrigerator to get cold say not to put them in the freezer, does anyone know why? Is it safe to do? Please help I am getting worried. Thanks.
Teething 7 month old!!!?
I was lucky and my son showed no signs of pain or anything when he was teething.
As far as the eating part. Dont worry. Kids will not let them selves starve. You will notice especially after the age of 1 that there are some days where you child will pig out and other days where he will barely eat anything at all. Kids tend to listen to their bodies a lot more than adults do. They eat when necessary. This happens a lot when they go through growing spurts.
Reply:Cold items will work also try the pills they give infants for teething, it is an over the conor item, not sure what it is called. Ask your pharmacist!!!
Reply:he might not be willing to eat because his teeth hurt. i was the same when i had braces. What you could try is freezing a wet tea towel and having him chew on it. this is different than those toys. But be sure to wash the towel in between each use for bacterial purposes. and then trying to feed him... once the pain is numbed he might be more willing to eat
Reply:It is normal for babies to get fussy and eat less when they are teething. Try putting orajel on his gums and then feeding him. The top ones are much bigger, too, so I would imagine they are much more painful for the baby.
I don't know why the teething rings say not to put them in the freezer, but I would follow the directions. There might be chance of the outer material to crack or something, so that the baby ingested what was inside.
One of my little man's favortie thing for teething was the top of the dropper of the Mylecon or Tylenol bottle.
Reply:First of all, take a deep breath and relax.
Yes, it is normal. When my babies teethed, they were fussy, had loose stools, and were not interested in anything but a bottle. I found that giving ibuprofen every 4-6 hours helped alot. The other thing they liked was a frozen washcloth. I would get a small corner wet and freeze it. Then I gave it to them to chew on, but only the part that "froze" would be in their mouth. That way their little hands wouldn't get too cold. The baby teething pain gel works pretty good too.
Hope this helps!
Reply:those teething things may burst when frozen... and you won't know it til it thaws... and that is after it has been in your babies mouth for a while... allowing him to swallow that stuff inside! freezing is a bad idea.... if you need it that cold try using a popsickle... the ones in plastic sleeves...like a push up...
If you use baby oragel it also numbs the taste buds... this might make the food not as tasty.... but it may help him to eat.
Reply:The best thing is to wet a clean wash cloth in cold water. Wring it out and give it to the baby to chew on. The cold will help sooth his gums and it's soft enough that he can bite as hard as he likes without harming anything. Of course do this when you are watching him. It also lets him take out his frustrations by biting hard on the cloth.
Reply:I always put my babies teethers in the freezer I didnt know I wasnt supposed to I thought thats how they worked I never had one bust open on my I belive its just water anyways, Its normal for your baby not to want to eat, they can run a low-grade fever, get runny noses, and sometimes even ear infections your baby wont let himself starve the formula will be just fine. When my daughter got her teeth in they mostly all came in within a few days of each other but those were a rough few days
Reply:Try those Zwieback Biscuits I used those for my babies and I recomend them to anyone. I never did like or trust those teething rings with liquid inside. Try the solid rubber ones.
