My 10 1/2 month old daughter is teething. For the past few days, she's been very fussy and not taking her bottle unless I give her teething tablets or orajel. She seems to be getting three teeth in all at once. She's already got two teeth.
However, since Saturday night, she's had explosive diarrhea. Her wet diapers have become minimal, and she's not taking much formula (she was getting table food, but we stopped it for now, seeing as the formula is more important) even after she's had teething tablets or orajel. She doesn't have a fever. Is this normal during the teething process?
She didn't have any diarrhea the last time. Thanks!
Teething and Diarrhea?
My daughters have had loose stools when teething but not explosive diarrhea. Teething can cause a wide variety of symptoms but if this diarrhea persists I would recommend a trip to the doctors as you do not want your daughter to dehydrate. If she does start to eat, try some grated apple as this contains pectin which firms up the poop! Good luck.
Reply:the two combined are just phenomenal. have your baby teeth on its warm poop
Reply:This is a debatable topic, you're going to get mixed answers.
I can only answer for myself. EVERY SINGLE TIME my son (now 3) cut a tooth..... he had diarrhea and a low grade fever.
Reply:My baby had diarrhea while teething too.
Reply:Diarrhea can be normal because the excessive drool actually upsets the stomach.
However if she isn't peeing enough, or her pee is dark or smelly you should take her to a doctor. I would also take her in if she takes less than 20oz of liquid in a day.
Reply:Diarrhea can happen with teething but what would concern me would be the lack of wet diapers. Watch out for dehydration. Call your doc if it continues. Good luck and remember this too shall pass.
