I really need some help here! My baby boy(4mo) is teething and wont sleep and wont quit crying. Ive tried everything I can think of cold washcloths, teething ring,Ambasol,Tylenol,Teething tablets and still no real results. Ive had maybe 8 hrs sleep in three days and Im really worried about Thanksgiving with our extended family tomorrow. I do know for sure that it is teething and not an ear infection or other ailment because he has little blisters(3!) on his top and bottom gums.PLEAAASE HELP!
TEETHING AT 4MO! New mom begs for help!!?
Try some clove oil. You can either make it yourself by simmering whole cloves in oil or dilute the essential oil in some oil.
However if they are blisters on his gums and not hard bumps you need to take him to a doctor ASAP because it is not teething and blisters can be a sign of serious disease as well as really silly things too.
Also if you have an smaller toys with you can soak and freeze those for him to chew on. If he does this a lot consider using breastmilk or formula as water can be bad. Also at 4 months you may wish to consider boiling the water first.

Edited to add:
Sorry about the blister comment. But foot and mouth disease (I think) anyway one of the childhood diseases starts with blisters on the gums.
The clove oil really works though, numbs them right up. It is actually used in some temporary fillings.
Frozen toys are good too.
Or but don't tell anyone a bit of scotch/rye on the gums. (Now for all of you that are going to freak out if you dip your finger in scotch how much alcohol do you really think he is going to get?!
Also you could try giving him gripe water with the Tylenol/Advil before bed in case the teething or the meds are upsetting his stomach.
My baby cut 3 teeth at the same time, it was awful! Also don't be surprised if one pops through and the others seem to stop for a few days.
If all else fails try a whole dill pickle or a bone to gnaw on. But I would be hesitant because you haven't stated solids yet.
Also talk to your pharmacist.
Reply:Oh god help you. My son went through that too. he's a year old now but I'm sure my wife and I havent got but 6 hours of sleep in a night since he was born. But good luck!
Reply:GET some Baby orajell
Reply:Anytime a baby constantly cries and doesn't sleep for 4 days it is time to take him to the doctor and stop with the home diagnosis.
Reply:It sounds like you are doing everything you can for your poor little guy. Some babies just have a really tough time with it and nothing works until those little buggers poke through.
Hopefully your Thanksgiving goes well put that extended family to good use and let them help with your son.
Reply:Do you have any baby ibuprofen, that is good stuff.
We used that when my daughter was teething- but they were when she was slightly older...I don't know about use on a four month old.
The first teeth my daughter had came through at three months old, and completely floored us because they just appeared, but every other tooth we gave Calpol, Bonjela and baby ibuprofen.
Chat with your health visitor/doctor about what they recommend.
Reply:Try humphries teeting tablets. If that doesnt work nothing will
Reply:You really should seek the advice of your pediatrician. He/she knows what is best and will find out exactly what is wrong with your baby. Good luck and I hope you find some rest soon.
Reply:Hi, you know what you can also try is some baby oval. The baby might have gas even though its a teeth issue. Also check the babies nipple hole on the bottle to make sure the liquids is not coming out to fast. If all fails you will have to go to the doctors. Try not to worry. You will find the answer. Take care.
Reply:Call the doctor - sometimes the doctor's nurse can give you some ideas. Try freezing a teething ring and giving to him. Once the teeth break thru the gums then the pain is gone. If not, then welcome to the world of motherhood during holidays!
Reply:go see your baby's doctor, i've never heard of a baby having blisters on their gums from teething. Blisters could be from a virus or from something else other then teething. To try and comfort him lay him on your arm tummy down with his face next to your elbow and your hand between his legs and pat his back while swaying back and forth. my son is has colic and that position has helped calm every fussy baby i've come in contact with. Also he can feel your stress so when youre holding him take a few really deep breaths and calm yourself down and he should calm down too. It's hard but when you're stressed and angry it fuels them into more screaming.
Reply:you need to take the child to the doctor and get him some relief
Reply:If your little guy has been crying that much for the past 3 days, then perhaps you should take him to the doctor. Are you sure it's not colic??? When babies are teeting, they don't get "blisters" on their gums... the gums get swollen and red, but they don't actually blister. Sometimes babies can get thrush and other infections in their little mouths. Either way, that wouldn't explain so much crying. I think your best bet here would be to take the little guy to the doctor to make sure it's not something serious. Since they have no way of telling us what hurts, we sometimes need an expert who knows what to look for.
I hope he turns out to be alright... if I were you, I'd go ahead and go to the ER tonight since Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Good luck!
Reply:Obviously he needs a check -up at the doctor's - if nothing else you'll be sure that your child doesn't have otitis or ear infection which is horribly painful for a child.
You should have gone to the doctor's after the first night. It's no shame to be told by a doctor that there's nothing wrong with a child, or that he's only teething, in any case he can advise you how to help your child.
Stop worrying about the Thanksgiving - your child is in pain and he needs you. You can not put him on a shelf just because of your extended family.
Reply:My baby teethed at just before 4 mos. She's 4 1/2 mos and has two teeth now. Teething blisters are normal with some babies.
First things first - a damp washcloth put in the freezer (get it to freeze solid). Katie had trouble holding on to regular "teethers", but the washcloth was big enough for her to grasp and bite down on. Also, try baby feeding spoons (rubber coated) put in the freezer. There are also teething "beads"...the look like a little necklace with oblong beads strung on them...same idea. Easy for them to hold and get to the mouth, easily tossed in freezer as necessary.
Next - Katie cut teeth with little problems, but she was ALWAYS chewing on my fingers. Once I realized she was teething (doc said no way she was), I would rub my finger on her gums. The baby WILL protest for the first minute or so, because it HURTS at first, but, after about 30 seconds, the counterpressure will start bringing relief, as well as helping the teeth to push through a little more quickly.
One reason he may be crying so much is he might be hungry, esp. if the teething is making feeding sore for him. If Kate's fussy, I always rub the orajel on about two minutes before I try to feed her. Usually it lasts long enough for her to get a 4-6oz bottle down, although you may have to do it twice (I don't use a lot, certainly less than the "pea-sized" amount recommeneded; just enough to cover the teeth coming through).
Good luck!
Reply:Use Baby Oragel. It numbs the gums i think, so i think it should really work. Good luck!
Reply:try Vitamin C drops, they are suppose to help and certainly won't hurt!
