my 9 week old has been acting like he may be teething lately. He is drooling loads and seems to be extra fussy for no real reason. he can't really appreciate teething toys at this age, but he sure loves a binky, although he seems to get frustrated with it sometimes (I am thinking because it doesnt reach the sides.
TOday when he was being real fussy and drooling, I stuck my (CLEAN) finger in his mouth to feel, and I felt two bumps on either corner of his bottom row. he also found great delight in biting down on finger and was pretty upset when I removed it.
Could he really be teething at this age? and what can I do to help him with the pain? I really dont believe in giving babies pain killers, but he cant use a teething toy either.
Teething at 9 weeks?!?
My son is 10 weeks (a preemie) now and at 8 weeks he was doing the same thing and i saw a bit of white on his gums and thought it was milk and tried to wipe it away and sure enough it was a tooth coming through.
I have been using a baby cloth wet and put in the freezer for a few minuts and then gave it to him and he sucked on it and he also likes his soother.
I hope this helps! Good Luck!
Reply:My first started teething right around that time and then popped five teeth in a week at 4.5 mos.
He could very well be teething, and it sure sounds like he is.
You could try wetting down a face cloth and freezing it...some kids like that, some don't.
If it gets bad enough for him, consider giving him some Infant's Motrin - it really can be painful.
Reply:my sisters baby is only 7mnths he will turn 8mnths on the 19th of nov..and he has already gotten two bottom teeth...he got sometime in his early 6mnths...every baby is differnt and developes a differrent stages!
Reply:My teeth started coming in when I was 2months old. I think it just depends on the baby because my son got his first teeth at 7months. Good Luck!
Reply:It happens..
No one believes me when I say it, but my first two teeth came IN at 6 weeks!! Yes.. WEEKS.. They had no enamel, though, and had to be capped. I have the cutest preschool pictures of me at age 4, smiling with two little silver teeth!!
Reply:I would suggest a frozen Popsicle. If your undecided about his teeth I would make a dental appointment with your dentist. Your bound to get the right answers. Good luck, and take care.Hope you find your answer.
Reply:It sure can be. My oldest daughter got her first 2 teeth at 4 months and 2 more soon after. Every baby is different. Sounds like you are using good techniques to soothe him.
I would consult a pediatric dentist as soon as those teeth come in. Never too early for that!
