My son jsut turned 4 months last this week. He has been slobbing a lot latley and yesturday I noticed his teeth had cut through. He seems to be really fussy also. Can anyone recommend anything other than the usual meds.
Teething???
Frozen or cold teething rings and orajel work well, but I wouldn't use frozen or cold wash clothes. It doesn't seem very sanitary.
Try cold celery...sometimes carrots work too, but you have to be careful that he doesn't bite off little bits that can be swallowed or choked on.
You can let him chew on your finger, also.
Reply:u can buy certain products made for your baby to teeth on to help ease the pain. careful i wouldnt use meds everyday...just wen you think he desperatly needs it becuz its not good for his immune system. there is also a special baby "toothpaste" you can buy to rub on his teeth. hope it helps =)
Reply:get him teething rings and put them in the freezer, so it will be harder to bite.
Reply:try a frozen wet washcloth. get it wet and then freeze it. let him chew on that. It won't fall apart and it will help massage his gums and ease the pain.
Reply:a cool washcloth
Reply:they like things to chew on as it helps them not hurt so badly. i used freezable little toys and they just chew and chew. you can also freeze a wet washcloth. they love that as well. obviously tylenol or ibuprofin also help.
Reply:You can try those oragel products, cold teething rings and oddly, my baby likes ice cold towels to chew on. I know it's strange but he would be quiet for hours chewing on the towel. I guess rubbing his gums on it helped ease it. Too bad we cant askem' huh.
Reply:My SIL who by the way has 5 kids all under 6 years of age swears by a product called teething tablets. I also have a 4 mo. old who is starting to teeth and plan on trying them out.
You can get them at Walgreen's for sure and pretty sure Walmart carries them too.
Good luck.
Reply:Humphreys is really great. They are tiny white balls sold in a tiny bottle. You can go to a drug store such as rite aid. They have different ones so just read the labels for the ones that say "teething". You can also put a teething ring in the fridge for the baby to use. Or a hand towel dipped in water then placed in the freezer. This will soothe the baby's gums.
Reply:There is a homeopathic remedy made by a company called Highlands. You can get it at most drug stores. They are tiny little tablets that will desolve in your baby's mouth. Also, my 3 children used those little water rings, but you shouldn't freeze them like many say, just refridgerate them, then the baby can chew on them, but it's still cooling to their sore little gums. Also, those dive sticks you throw in the pool, my last baby loved them as a teether more than anything else. And if nothing else works, give the little guy some relief with baby Orajel rubbed on his gums. It numbs them and he'll make a weird little lipsmack with his lips, but it willl help.
Reply:A cold wash rag or they even make this really neat things that you can put frozen fruit into and it has a mesh like cover that goes over the fruit so the baby can gum on the frozen fruit and not break off a big chunk its all contained in the mess, I got one at Wal-mart a few years back when my daughter was teething. DO NOT get the teething tablets they contain belladonna which is a herbal sedative, not good for baby !!
Reply:They make baby orajel and teething tablets. You might try giving him a cold teething ring or a cold wash cloth to chew on.
