I have a two and a half month old who looks as if she is teething - she has all the tell-tale signs of teething.
What can i do to ease her pain? I can't use the teething gel as it is not for babies under three months. I've got some teething rings but they seem too big for her (and i got the smallest size in the store). I've given her panadol but it hasn't really helped.
Any suggestions? And does anyone know of really small teething rings?
Thank you
Baby teething?
The best thing at this age (or any age) is placing a damp clean wash cloth into a zip-lock baggy and popping it into the freezer for a few minutes. Allow her to suck and gnaw on the cloth while you hold the end of it so she doesn’t put it too far into her little mouth. You can use this all day, as many times as you like and you don’t have too worry about unwanted medicine in her body.
Watch that she doesn’t get a high fever that wont go down, because she may need to see a doctor for illness not teething (or both). Just watch closely, but it isn’t much to worry about, babies temperatures fluctuate more than adults and babies are over medicated for fevers when their bodies are just naturally dealing with something.
You can also try rubbing her little gums with your clean finger, or just applying pressure where you think her tooth might be coming through (or push up slowly), most likely the front bottom.
When she is really fussy try holding her as often as you can and moving around, this usually helps the little one ‘forget’ that they are in pain and allows them to think about something else, go for a walk in the neighbourhood. Wearing her in a sling while also help because of the close comfort to you, and if you are breastfeeding this can offer her even more comfort when she needs it most. Some babies will feed all day when teething, and some stop all together!
Try your best to soothe her without meds, rocking, singing, dancing, music, cold cloths, rubbing and pressure, lavender baths at night, lavender body rubs (olive oil mixed with a few drops of essential lavender oil), all these will help her relax, calm and hopefully sleep!
Good luck with your early teething little one.
Reply:Ice cubes worked for my daughter
Reply:I used Bonjela for both my kids, it says from 4 months but I used it both times from around the same age. Or see the chemist about it.

Reply:There are teething rings with saline / water in them. They have a very small toy floating inside of each bubble. I used to have two or three and put them in the fridge. They don't freeze. Just the coolness is soothing.
By the way, people especially babies don't operate by books. your baby could teeth way sooner than the book says. Also, might be that your baby just didn't like that tething ring. They like fingers too!!!!! I'm sure that you have found that out.
Keep the variety of rings, but make sure to get the saline ones, they are smushy and babies love them. The ones you bought, babies just love to throw them. They make noise when they hit the floor and make the parents go crazy. That cracks babies up.
Num-Zit teething gel. Your baby is 2 1/2 months, very close to three,,,,,,right.
U see the directions and reccommendations are alll estimations. Because they don't personally know your baby, so they can't know when they are teething or sitting up, or biting your finger. Right??????????
Reply:You can give her Tylenol or ibuprofen. Just call your pediatrician or pharmacist and ask how much you can give her.
And to the first guy who responded to this question...You are very sick and immature. There are respectful people and kids who come on this site. Do yourself a favor and grow up.
Reply:I hope shes not teething this early (she could be starting but I doubt a tooth will come through this early so the poor wee mite could just have pain with no tooth coming through for a while)
The only thing she really can have at this stage is liquid baby paracetamol.
I hope she feels better soon...
Reply:DESPITE THE PREJUDICE AGAINST IT, THE USE OF WHISKEY (OR OTHER ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES) RUBBED ON THE GUMS IS A TRADITIONAL REMEDY THAT WORKS WELL.

Reply:I'm glad you asked this question. My daughter is the same age and going throught the same thing. I kept thinking to myself that she's too young to start teething right now, but she's acting like she is. I've tried giving her teethers too and she doesnt seem to like them. Hopefully by reading other people's answer's to your question I'll find help too. Good luck!
