My 5 month old daughter has been teething for a while now. The last couple of days she has been a completely different child. She is super grumpy and doesnt seem like anything I do makes her feel any better. I have tried oragel, teething tablets, teething rings (she doesnt like), vibrating teething rings and I am at my wits end. I am pretty sure that she is grumpy because her gums are hurting. She did get her shots a couple of days ago and I think she has allergies(she rubs her eyes a lot) but I cannot imagine these things making her act this way... Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on making my poor baby feel better? I would really appreciate it, it breaks my heart to see her in pain. Thanks in advance.
Teething question?
teething is a hard time...
you could try a wet washer to chew on? this can help some children to settle. otherwise you could go with hard foods to chew on such as a biscuit or some toast crusts?
give pain relief if you feel she'll benefit, otherwise, just try and keep yourself sane. rubbing of the eyes may be an allergy, or it could be an indication of tiredness. the teething discomfort may make the quality of sleep lessen, therefore she'll be more tired after waking.
Reply:Other than add tylenol if she really seems to be in pain, I say you are doing all you can. This should only last about a week. My son was the same way, I felt sorry for him, but there wasn't anything else I could do.
Reply:try giving her a wet wash cloth to chew on and maybe give her some Tylenol
Reply:are the allergies a new development? if so you may want to check with her ped on if she could be allergic to her shots. also i would try giving her some tylenol along with the oragel and teething tablets. it will help her to relax and take away some of the pain
Reply:I gave my son the pedialite popsicles at 5mo. when he was teething. he loved it and it soothed his gums. another idea is to take a clean wash rag and get it wet and stick it in a zip lock, then stick it in the freezer. then pull it out once it's frozen and let her suck on that. it helps too.
Good luck and best wishes!!!
Reply:actually orajel has a berry flavored teething gel my son loved the taste it numbed his gum so he couldnt feel any pain that made him feel alot better
Reply:My youngest is a different child when teething. I try to make him as comfortable as possible and give him more finger foods. Seems that gnawing on food helps his gums. Some of our favorites are zwibeck toasties (just dried bread/toast) and raw carrots. Yes, obviously watch your child with both of these but that rubbing on their gums is AWESOME.
Reply:i dont know.... um mabye just give her lots of attention so it gets her mind of it i hope i help!!:)
